Pips on the pauldron>Smooth basketball pauldrons

Also the gun is clearly inferior on the MOM suit, blue doesn't look as good as green and it looks a lot wimpier as well

Isn't the Prime 3 Varia literally identical to the Prime 2 Varia? Either way I'd agree with you wholeheartedly. I must admit I rather like the Samus Returns variant, though. It has a certain mix of chunkiness and sleekness that I think fit's Samus' mix of mobility and firepower well.

Attached: Samus Runs.jpg (1728x1728, 140K)

Prime 2/3 varia is perfection, so yes

Sr's varia suit is top samus design, pure kino

1-samus returns varia suit
2- prime 2 and 3 varia suit
3- light suit
4- zero mision power suit
5- prime 1 phazon suit

Attached: samus-pose.png (1115x1075, 180K)

That suit gives her more of a "primal" feel , I dont know how else to describe it
It looks like more alien esque than the others

The Prime 1 Phazon suit was so fucking lazy. Literally just an all-black paint job with red highlights. It didn't even fit the two-tone pattern that the other powersuits establish. Thankfully the other 2 prime games have phenomenal powersuit designs.

It has a very aggressive look, yet still looks sophisticated and technological. A sort of "brutal, yet cunning" kind of appearance that's hard to describe. Really wish they'd add it to Smash Ultimate; the profile isn't much different from the Other M suit.

I have this figure and it is easily the one I have the most fun with posing and handling. I have some statues I like better, but she’s my favorite posable figure I own.

The main benefit is after you get it Samus's face looks angrier in her reflection. its subtle but its there.

Am I the only one with a peculiar fondness for her Brawl design? I suppose it looks a little goofy because it's so chunky, but it really is a pretty good 3D interpretation of her appearance in Super Metroid. I honestly think it's quite nice looking overall.

Attached: Brawl Samus.jpg (858x1089, 137K)

The super metroid design looks good but does not have that menancing look, samus returns and prime 2 have the absolute best designs imo

PED suit > all others

It just looks like generic sci-fi space armor.

The prime trilogy had some of the most based designs
Here's hoping prime 4 lives up to that standard

Attached: Metroid Prime Suits.png (1440x900, 867K)

I will never not be angry that they didn't use SR suit in Ultimate.

I share your pain, brother.

Same
They changed a lot of characters designs, and the one that needed the most remained the same....
However, Imagine they used ridley's design from other m, lmao

they didn't have time to redo or add quality to previous characters because people can't live without their third Link or fourth Marth

This is the correct post.
Prime 2 got the Varia Perfect.

OtherM (namely how it's seen in Smash) is ok at best, given that she is supposed to be nimble in the suit as well, which I'm aware counteracts the purpose of the bulky space suit.
But the only thing that is EXTREMEMLY flawed with the OtherM suit in Smash is the shitty pea shooter of an arm cannon, which even Returns uses as you can see here.

Prime made the perfect arm cannon leap from sprite/art to 3D, but it was Prime 2 that made the best Varia.

I want Metroid Prime 4 to have multiplayer in some aspect.

Attached: 1562450770105.png (616x500, 435K)

Hunters was fun. Shame hackers killed it so early.

I'll take co-op like Halo 2

I'll take Multiplayer like Metroid Prime 2

but I really really want something interesting/special.

Battle Royale style with different characters like in Hunters but with the whole series.

Attached: fuckin a.png (315x372, 226K)

I have Hunters sitting around barely touched because I just couldn't get used to those damn controls.

I convinced myself it wouldn't be as interesting as the other games and decided to drop it.

was that a mistake?

zero suit ruined metroid

Attached: 1557454501376.gif (354x304, 107K)

Multiplayer was imbalanced as fuck, but a good time and certainly novel at the time of release. Single-player is surprisingly decent, though the bosses are repetitive. If you give it a shot, you'll probably like it.

zero suit was inevitable, as all cool robot mech looking things have pilots in sleek skintight uniform

good descriptions and reasoning. Thank you user

Cast Samus for live action

From a practical perspective, a person wearing a set of powered armor is going to need something to help regulate their body temperature and avoid pinching or sticking to the interior. Having said that, I feel the Zero Suit as it exists today is a bit fetishistic in terms of just how skin-tight it is, and the fact that they keep adding high heels to the fucking thing doesn't help. Still, I'm not opposed to seeing Samus outside of the suit, I just wish the art direction was more on the serious side.

Whoever they got for that Prime 2 ad looked like a pretty good fit, honestly.

youtube.com/watch?v=-O7fsmPGmVM

they only started hiring artists last month

Is it normal to want to fuck a suit of armor? Like, not the person in the armor, but the armor itself?
God I love the Samus Returns suits so fucking much. That big, beautiful, glorious BULK. She's like a walking fortress.

Attached: 1510526647690.gif (500x411, 178K)

Dat fuckin' Gravity suit, man.

Attached: Gravity Kino.jpg (1024x1024, 159K)

Looks like she belongs in Ratchet: Deadlocked or playing space football or something

Attached: L-LEWD.gif (312x322, 197K)

Football would be more interesting if the players had arm cannons.

Did the Gravity Suit have heels in the final game?

No more so than the Varia and Power suits did. They're proper boots, so there's a bit of a heel, but nothing exaggerated. They still added em to the Zero Suit, though. That said, I feel the SR version of the Zero Suit is a step in the right direction; it just looks more practical than the tinfoil-looking suit in Smash.

Attached: Zero Suit SR.jpg (800x600, 50K)

I'm not mad, I'm fine with it, it makes more sense and looks practical compared to the Other M shit. I know Sakamoto was a large part of Other M sucking but I feel like Sakamoto and his art team at the then SPD1 didn't really get along with Team Ninja's art team because Samus Returns looks like a Metroid game compared to Other M.

A lot of Other M's problems were related to Ninja Theory and Sakamoto just having very different visions for the game. I can appreciate what they were trying to achieve, but no game can survive drastic differences in creative vision between key team members. The whole thing was a compromise, and neither side was really happy with the outcome.

I can see why Sakamoto no longer wants to work with Team Ninja but wants to work with MercurySteam again, the moment they had their first disagreement is when the Other M project should have been dropped.

Attached: 1505593805178.jpg (851x1089, 294K)

Mercury Steam really impressed me with Samus Returns. It's far from perfect, but all of it's flaws are owed to being a remake of Metroid 2. I honestly trust them with Metroid 5.

>A lot of Other M's problems were related to Ninja Theory and Sakamoto just having very different visions for the game.
it was largely sakamoto's fault. Team Ninja barely did shit outside of character models and following orders

>the moment they had their first disagreement is when the Other M project should have been dropped.
the last thing sakamoto needed was more yesmen

Attached: stan.jpg (500x500, 33K)

Me too

They're somewhat the reason the gameplay is the way it is because they were too good to just make a 2D game like Sakamoto wanted.

We could have got another 2D Metriod game if Team Ninja would have just been yesmen.

Prime 3 Varia is literally the Prime 2 Varia, which is actually perfect.

Attached: 1469071697082.png (1920x1007, 1.85M)

Yes, the gravity suit has a significantly increased high heel than the Varia suit. The Varia's is a military boot, whereas the Gravity is a full-on high heel. Why in God's name they chose to do that is a mystery.

Ninja Theory insisted on bridging the gap between the Prime games and the mainline games in terms of gameplay. Sakamoto wasn't interested in re-inventing the series, he just wanted to do a narrative-focused Metroid game in the traditional style. The conflict and subsequent "compromises" resulted in stupid bullshit like pixel hunts and controlling a character in a 3D environment with a fucking D-pad.

The high-heel isn't actually on the game model for the Gravity Suit, just the concept art.

There's a solution for that: retcon Samus as a pilot/human and just make the suit a robot/mecha. Adding a human element was always a bad idea.

Infact, I can name at least three metroidvanias that are vastly improved by having non-human characters.

Attached: header.jpg (460x215, 55K)

The absolute destruction of Samus as a character, both in her visual design with the mole and high heels and the narrative making her a needy little bitch whining for daddy, was all Sakamoto.

Based PED suit

Attached: 1496701487968.jpg (1200x699, 156K)

I think you'd be able to fix that if you just slimmed down her visor and made it more aggressive. Tank Samus is infinitely cooler than slim Samus.

Not him but interesting, I also notice that Zero Suit Samus in-game model's heels isn't as high.

Not him but that all got brought in when Team Ninja wanted to make a grander game so D-Rockets got brought in. Team Ninja was a bad pick for a Metroid game.

Just imagine the sex
She can bend her body to become a ball
She can trap you with her tights and beat your meat like there is no tomorrow
You would not fuck samus, samus would fuck you

Who cares? The only good one is this one.

Attached: 1548028598539.jpg (560x920, 398K)

Yes, that's nice. Now please take that disgusting filth back to a porn board.

and? It would still be a worse fusion, same shit as other M

Samus is fine as a character, though. Most of her expression comes in the form of body-language, excepting Fusion, and it works for her. The Prime games in particular are good about using her body language to characterize her. Even when she does "speak" )AKA Fusion) it's generally relevant to the events of the game and fleshes out her background a bit, which is good for setting a tone. Things like establishing her past with the Federation help make her fit in the game's universe better and establishes her as a character beyond being a player avatar.

We don't talk about Other M. Not even Nintendo talks about Other M these days. Those were dark days I'd rather not reminisce on.

Attached: There are HOW many SA-X.jpg (246x169, 15K)

No, it wouldn't, SPD1 would have actually worked on it instead of being relegated to the sidelines because they had no idea how to make a 3D Metroid game.

I believe they were making Wario Land 4 at the time.

>Samus is fine as a character, though.
Other M shows otherwise. As long as she's a human, hacks like Sakamoto will want to constantly show her as "submissive" and "weak". Infact, Nintendo was so pissed at Samus Returns not being a rehash of Other M that they forced it onto the 3DS to die, and refuse to port it to Switch. Maybe that's just a coincidence though, so don't quote me on it. But seeing her representation in Smash, it's very plausible.

>Most of her expression comes in the form of body-language, excepting Fusion, and it works for her.
It didn't work in Fusion at all. Every other elevator and hallway and briefing scene was just one giant wall of dialogue and text. And this is disastrous game design for a game that's supposed to be fast paced. And considering that exploration and "carving your own path" are staples of the series, Fusion literally had to murder this concept by forcing linearity for the sake of narrative. and you can't even go back and look for items until after you've beaten the game, for no reason other than it upsetting the plot.

>Things like establishing her past with the Federation help make her fit in the game's universe better and establishes her as a character beyond being a player avatar.
And then Fusion AND Other M portray her as a retard who continues working with this group that actively hates her and has conspired to kill her on multiple occasions, either directly or by withholding upgrades. And yet at the end of Fusion, I bet she's STILL loyal to these idiots. If the game didn't have such a stupid, convoluted plot than I could easily excuse that, but Fusion just had to be a cinematic dumpheap.

This explains a lot, well, I'll just continue to ignore Other M and be thankful that Smus Returns exist, it's honestly like Other M doesn't fit with Metroid 1-4 or even their remakes.

*Samus

user, everyone hates Other M primarily BECAUSE Her characterization in that game is so far from the other games. Also, the big blocks of text really only appears in elevators in Fusion; it didn't really disrupt the flow of the game because they occurred at a natural breaking point. Besides, Fusion is easily the slowest paced game in the series by design because the game is made to be tense. I'd also point out that when the Federation tells her to leave the metroids alone in Fusion and leave the station, she just ignores them, enters the off-limits zone and then blows up the whole station. She's hardly subservient to the Federation, they just pay her checks. Besides, Fusion's monologues make it pretty clear that the only person in the Federation she trusted was Adam.

It literally doesn't. The "lore" of Other M contradicts literally every single other game up to that point. It's kind of astonishing, really.

Attached: Other M contradictions.png (1242x1145, 256K)

>user, everyone hates Other M

Attached: 30a.jpg (475x356, 63K)

Other M is shit and feels like it fits with no Metroid, seeing how Sakamoto and D-Rockets wrote the script, Team Ninja did the art and gameplay, some anime composer did the music, and SPD1 barely had any involvement with the game if any, Other M might as well not even exist in the Metroid series, doesn't help that all games ignore its existence even Nintendo.

sakamoto retcons shit with every new release. The baby metroid now saved samus 3 times before fusion instead of 1, and super is currently set a year after 2 which makes no sense

look at the goddamn hip to waist

Attached: 158239823984.png (1024x768, 848K)

He also forgot that the gravity suit was purple. It's a bit concerning, honestly.

>doesn't help that all games ignore its existence even Nintendo.
Tell that to Smash Brothers.

Who gives a fuck about Smash and Sakurai's taste, stop trying to hide in this thread ACfag, everyone knows it's you.

It really is astonishing.

I remember all of the Zero Mission retcons.

For me, it's melee Samus. Until Dark Samus in Ultimate came around.

Attached: SSBM_Samus_HQ.jpg (433x600, 31K)

Smash 4 used the Other M designs because they were the most recent. A debatable choice, but an understandable one. Smash Ultimate just reused the character assets from Smash 4. Unfortunate, but understandable considering the scope of Smash Ultimate's development. Still hope they add more alt costumes some day and we get the Samus Returns suit as an option.

>Who gives a fuck about Smash and Sakurai's taste
How about the entire Nintendo fandom, who only cares about Metroid to the extent that they can masturbate to it? That's why ZSS is the most popular Metroid rep, and everyone hates power suit Samus.

Does it really count as a retcon to add stif the original game's plot was literally just "kill mother brain because she's evil?"

And what will be your excuse when they continue using Other M Samus as the rep 20 years from now? "they can't be bothered making a new one, stop being entitled"? How much more shit do I have to have shoveled into my mouth before I'm allowed to complain about major issues in the Metroid series? You'd think a super rich company like Nintendo would spend a little extra time and give Metroid the respect it deserves, instead of re-using assets like greedy assholes.

You're delusional dude. This thread started as a discussion entirely about Samus' powersuit designs and the Zero Suit was only brought up to discuss its design as well. The one horny fucker was told to piss off, though I suppose you might have a point about the guy sexually attracted to the powersuits? Not sure that really counts.

You cannot seriously expect me to argue with you about things that haven't happened.

>plastic finish
>oversaturated
>clipping
Stand aside.

Attached: Samus.gif (360x392, 759K)

Oh hey, I finished getting the achievements for that game just recently. It's kinda okay I guess?

I just hate the fact that it's a human in a suit instead of a robot.

the 90's are over, we don't need a whiny whore in a latex suit who cries every 5 minutes.

Great. Now go away, we're actually having decent discussions in here.

I agree, if only because we'll finally get the Varia Suit porn we deserve.

Kind of sort of, Samus Returns is the same way with this.

Literally none of what you're saying is true. Get a fucking grip, dude. Maybe discuss upping your dosage with your psychiatrist or something.

Prime would be nice but I'd have been ok if they did what they did with Zelda in smash, go with something modeled after some old super metroid art. Instead smash decided to pick the worst possible option and do the Other M suit again.

Literally all of the things you've stated except the clipping issue are just pluses to me. she looked like a cool action figure and that arm canon design looks too good. Overall the suit had the best balance between sleekness and bulkiness. That said the designs from Prime in are by far more soulful. I just wish the alt skins for the Light Suit and Gravity Suit looked flatout like the real deal and weren't just alt colors.

you cumbrains disgust me.

Attached: average metroid thread on v.jpg (952x717, 118K)

Just go /phazon/ bro.

Attached: 1545632391729.png (800x1200, 699K)

Nintendo isn't using the Other M designs, NamcoBandai is. You do realize they're the ones that made both Smash 4 and Ultimate, right? They're not going to make a brand new design unless Nintendo asks them to. They used the basketball-shoulder suit because Other M was the most recent game. Once again, not defending that decision but the logic is sound. That model was reused for Ultimate because a lot of character models were. It saved time and effort on a game that was quite frankly an absurd undertaking. Meanwhile, Nintendo hasn't mentioned Other M a single time it released unless directly asked about it, not even when discussing subsequent Metroid announcements like Federation Force or Samus Returns. That game bombed super hard and they know it's hated, so it's verbotten. As for the rest, I really don't follow your reasoning. The zero suit has nothing to do with anything, and Nintendo isn't going to burn bridges with their partners and employees over one fuckup, that's insanity.

That is NOT the Brawl render, lmfao. Brawl used the Prime 3 suit and it is the best one we have so far.

You're the one obsessed with the existence of Samus porn. Nobody else in here is even discussing it aside from that one poster that was told to go away.

The PED suit is butt ugly, I can't stand it.

Uhh. I hate to be the one to break this to you, dude, but no Smash game has ever used the Prime Varia suit as a design for Samus.

Attached: Smash Samus through the years.png (1000x1000, 1.08M)

Fully corrupted hazard suit is best.

Supersuit > Haloidsuit

no it didn't, brawl suit is shit compared to prime 2/3 varia. I think it's modeled with super as the base with changes made to it

Good. Now go away, secondary.

I've said this in another thread. The only woman fit for /that is the daughter of Kim Basinger aka the woman Samus was modelled after. Kim is old and retired from acting but her daughter still available.

Attached: Ireland-Baldwin4.jpg (600x813, 58K)

I think the biggest challenge to any live-action Samus would be making the helmet cooperate with the ponytail. The games have the "ancient space bird magic" excuse, but that shit doesn't fly when a real person has to put a real helmet on.

How do you think the new prime game is going to handle the controls?

What will be the "shoot" button? If it's a trigger, our ZR button is going to break. And, in all honesty, I didn't really enjoy how much I had to press the A button during a fight. Enemies are so bullet spongey, that I'm sure it did over 10,000 A presses by the end of a Prime game.

I wouldn't mind if they had two buttons for firing.
>A now becomes a fully auto shooting mode. All shots are their smallest charge.
>X now becomes a single shot charge. This is identical to how shooting is in all other games. You hold X to make a fully charged shot, takes the same amount of time as it always did.

Boom, now we won't get repetitive strain injuries from hitting A so fucking much.

>inb4 dumbing the game down
Having to press A 100 times to kill 3 Space Pirates is redundant and not a skill and is not a part of the difficulty of the games.

Not gonna lie, aiming controls are gonna be a challenge for Prime 4, the trilogy spoiled us. I'm just hoping for a variety of options, honestly. If there are enough, there's bound to be one I prefer.

We can get gyro aiming, at least.

For sure. I'm just curious how they're going to accommodate the Switch Pro controller.

I would settle for paid DLC goddammit. I would give them money to replace the Other M suit. Instead all we get are fucking Mii costumes.

Attached: 1551937358453.jpg (1242x808, 120K)

I'm a little sad that Proteus Ridley wasn't an alt for Ridley, but since Meta Ridley is already an alt I don't really mind that much at this point.

Attached: MSR_ProteusRidley_artwork.png (1796x1187, 1.48M)

I agree. Having the pinpoint accuracy from the Wii was a blessing. You could hit anything with the sensor bar.

Gyro aiming is good, but Wiimote aiming was literally better than using a mouse.

Perhaps they'll adopt a similar shooting style to how Splatoon does it? You control up and down with gyro but use sticks for side to side?

Even with that, though, Metroid usually requires pretty precise aiming. So I'm uncertain with what they'll come up with.

So glad Ridley went back to his old design.

Your blame is entirely misplaced. If you're looking for someone to blame it's entirely on Sakamoto's shoulders. I have no idea where you got the idea that Team Ninja came up with the 2D/3D flipping shit but Sakamoto came up with the idea from the get-go AND insisted that it be done with only the Wiimote. Team Ninja thought he was crazy.

Attached: sakamoto other m wiimote.png (647x879, 71K)

Attached: sakamoto other m wiimote 2.png (597x704, 155K)

My theory is that when Sakamoto said "get me the people who made Ninja Gaiden"

He was talking about the NES games

Not him but the Brawl suit is sort of a fusion of the two, though. At its base it's the Super Suit but it borrows the Prime color palette, along with the glowing green lights on the breast plate, boots, and in the shoulder cracks.

Still the best design for Samus

It actually looks tough since it isn't covered in pointless glowing lights.

Attached: smart_sam08.jpg.16750d9cc7dbcff37602c1317d7b1e34.jpg (425x700, 176K)

Light Suit best suit. Next is maybe Samus Returns Gravity. I also like the Fully Corrupted PED. The only way I'll like having the Fusion Suit in Metroid V is if it uses Mercury Steam's design. They actually made me like it.

Super is the one game I can think of that is literally perfect in every single way.

Honestly? It shouldn't even be associated with the other metroid games, that are all total trainwrecks just trying, wishing they had an ounce of Super's brilliance.

Attached: Banner-SuperSeptember-SNES-SuperMetroid2-1080x608.jpg (1080x608, 108K)

Super Metroid is the best at what it does, other Metroid games can only compete by doing something else. They can't do Super's formula better than Super, but they can do other formulas.

>The baby metroid now saved samus 3 times before fusion instead of 1

but
but
It dies literally 15 minutes after seeing her again and trying to kill her
