Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.

1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).

2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.

3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.

4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.

5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.

lads help me choose a class for my bhaalspawn, just finished installing SCS + Spell Revisions on BGT
So far I have thought of
Fighter/Illusionist multi
F/M/T
Blade
Berserker/Mage dual

*is superior in every way*

Attached: 25917-icewind-dale-windows-front-cover.jpg (800x969, 226K)

BG>IWD>BG2>NWN2:MotB>PS:T>NWN:HotU>dog shit>IWD2

>SCS + Spell Revisions
PnP or bust.

>Fighter/Illusionist multi
>F/M/T
Whenever I try a multi-class I give up after a dozen hours or so because of how the disparity between them and single-classes (including duals with low enough first class) keeps growing. I've seen anons recommend multi-classes frequently, though.

>Blade
Lol bards. But at least you'll have some wicked gear later on.

>Berserker/Mage dual
Cheese. But as long as you're having fun.

As much as I love BG2 nothing really compares to MotB except P:T in terms of world-building and things not directly tied to the storyline.

What are some good class kit mods for both games

>mods

I don't think II really needs mods there's a ton of vanilla classes already in the base game

Based.

So... I just play the old one instead of Enhanced?

If you're too retarded to setup the original, just pirate EE and mod out the EE npc.

Low-key beamdog shill will tell you to "just ignore" them, but some of them you can't avoid and force themselves into your party.

Attached: wolf.gif (500x227, 1009K)

Or pirate EE and disable the newly added beamniggy companions, but yes, the old one is still a viable option if you can find a copy

Here use this user should help a bit

also aren't these "things" made of actual wood why would a wizard keep them as sex slaves?

Like you've never fucked a tree before, don't be coy.

>got BG with Dark Horizon, Dark Side of the Sword Coast, Northern Tales of the Sword Coast, Drizzt Saga, over 9000 mini quests, kits, items, spell, NPCs and tweaks mod to actually fucking work
>The 8000 x 4000 world map doesn't even crash
>literally the only downside is slowdowns in huge fights
F U C K
U
C
K

Y E S
E
S

did you biff

>9000

that's a little overkill don't you think

Attached: BaldursGate2_Map.jpg (2243x1200, 3.71M)

>but some of them you can't avoid and force themselves into your party.
What do you gain from lying?

Are those mods good though?

Technically they can't force themselves in to your party, but in BG1, if you walk near Neera you have to do her thing, and I think if you walk near Rasaad after the mines he talks to you too

You guys are like clockwork. I'm just glad too see you fags get cucked by Larian.

>Cheese
Isn't cheese just part of the game? Literally everything you do in these games that isn't run directly into melee and let the dice sort it out could be considered cheese.

Attached: 1560670039522.webm (1384x1080, 2.67M)

I enjoyed playing Chaos Sorcerer, which is basically wild mage sorcerer.
There is also Deities of Faerun which adds shitload of Cleric stuff, it has a few kits I really enjoyed playing

How do I view NPCs to see what level/class/kinds of abilities they have?

I'm getting stomped by the druids that ambush you at High Hedge after you help Xzar get the Nymph's essence.

>just now reached Dragon's Eye for the first time
>on level 2 currently
>scout with my thief
>there's millions of trolls
Oh yeah, nah, can tell this is gonna be SUPER fun.

>half a dozen clerics that cast Hold Person several times
>shit ton of trolls
>wraith spiders
>those fucking beetles that do acid damage and deafen your characters
>all in the same area
IWD is so full of bullshit but I love it

I'd be willing to bet BG III is going to turn out to be some crazy third-person action game like oblivion

>next level down
>zombies that immune to normal weapons
>skeletons that explode into a snowball storm
>poison dart traps fucking everywhere
All this before a temple with a shit load of concealed hasted yuan-ti elite warriors

I'd bet its more like Dragon's Dogma if they go action rpg.

What are some good IWD classes?

Based

Bards and Druids

>you can import your character into NWN

Why didn't anyone tell me this was a thing, how does that even work aren't they entirely different systems?

Does this mean Imoen just runs off somewhere else while you go off adventuring in waterdeep?

Attached: NANI.png (800x600, 408K)

One of Bioware's first lies

Fighter/illusionist
Ranger/Cleric dual wielding
Paladin

Doesn't this ruin the game? Wouldn't your character be totally overpowered?

You can't. They originally planned for it but dropped it when NWN came out.

Oh maybe they should have patched that out when Neverwinter was released

Attached: DESPAIR.jpg (546x520, 68K)

Is that bg2 Imoen?

Give it to me straight, what the fuck did Irenicus even do to her and why to female BG players always install the mod where Imoen gets turned to stone during Spellhold?

>and why to female BG players always install the mod where Imoen gets turned to stone during Spellhold?
Not him but it's the first time I'm seeing this.

When will she start selling her bathtub gamer girl water?

Attached: lilura.jpg (103x113, 5K)

>Give it to me straight, what the fuck did Irenicus even do to her
he put centipedes inside her

>Has Ellesime clones and other female sylvan creatures held captive to 'instill emotion' in him
>HE HAS TOUCHED YOU AS WE
Irenicus fucked her, plain and simple. He's given up on trying to rekindle any higher emotions. By that point he's just trying to generate basic emotions like lust

It's heavily implied he plucked his hands into her brain through magic & pretty much knifed her bringing her back over & over again, this is the same guy who keeps living vampires in his dungeon I like em

come to think of it this is the first real vampire we see don't recall seeing any in the first baldur's gate?

Attached: Vampires.png (800x600, 408K)

Just vampiric wolves in BG1. Real vamps are too powerful for those levels.

Baldur's Gate is little baby land, what have the Baldurians got to fear? Amn is where there's serious scary shit.

BG still has Aec'letec and a demon(or was it death?) knight though. I assume they are similar in power levels?

Basilisks

Niggas just all need to learn to animate dead so you can have a little undead fuckboi walking in front of you at all times

Oh the horror I might have to carry a Potion of Mirrored Eyes or two. What a tough neighborhood. Basically fantasy compton.

Aec and the demon knight were expansion bosses. DK just throws fireballs and swings his sword iirc. Aec had some bs attacks like his curse gaze that can affect anyone and gibs you. Beyond that I just cheesed him by slapping Otiluke's Resilient Sphere on him while going around killing all the cultists he could use to restore himself then drowned him in summons while I filled him with arrows praying that his curse attack didn't hit my PC.

You never payed a visit to Durlag's Tower did you?

Protection from Petrification was better if you knew an area was infested. Mirror Potions were for emergencies.

>Drink potion of mirror eyes
>Every basilisk is now a giant exp pinata incapable of doing anything to you
They even give you one on the first floor before you go outside.

I'm already missing the narrator from the first one, although the new VO isn't that bad

Attached: Sunlight.png (800x600, 586K)

>the 3 Gauths down in the sewer area
Thats some impressive lightning show you got going on there, mother fuckers.

Attached: 1497242723844.jpg (1024x886, 123K)

You don't need to waste Protection From Petrification on Basalisks, a fucking level 3 fighter in chapter fucking 1 waltz over to Durlag's slink passed all the enemies on the first two floors grab that mirrored eye potion, quaff it and proceed to kill them all in seconds. They have no other attacks, they're completely helpless from a single potion.

They only attack whoever is closest as well so if you don't run your entire party in like a moron and only send the one fighter you're gold.

They are both good fits for their respective games.

Attached: Waukeen's Promenade.jpg (1800x1200, 304K)

Yeah you can really tell which direction bioware was starting to take the series,so I'm assuming the purple wizards are this region's flaming fist?

Attached: cinematic.png (800x600, 586K)

The Cowled Wizards enforce the "only licensed arcane casters" law. I don't remember their robes being purple, more like grey but it was some time since I've played.

The direction in 2 is fine because in 1 you are slowly dragged from one assassin ambush to another, each edgier than the previous one, while treated to such fine fine twists like "Cover ass". Oh no, sorry, it's "Koveras".
The pacing of the second game is merely hectic from the get go is all.

Heh
WATCH THIS KID

Attached: wew.jpg (4900x3500, 2.9M)

the fuck is this

Looks like a map of the Sword Coast from Baldur's Gate down through Amn and Tethyr to Calimshan, with every area from the games highlighted.

Oh I thought it was a game with shitload of mods

>this shit of a game
>spamming generals still
based 24fps fags

It is actually a map of the game with shitload of mods
Every area that's not BG,TOSC,SOA or TOB is a mod

Looks like they also have IWD locations in there too

It has Icewindale maps mod so yeah it's a map with mods

2nd is just better

hey user do you like the new bg2 ui better,I see you installed that 1pp mod

>EE never
thank god

It makes me really mad we will never get the real enchanced edition of BG. Fuck Beamdog.

Blade is awesome, spells + being decent at melee. The offensive spin is pretty great as well.

It's funny you think anyone would ever bother to remake BG.

Larian got rights to BG. It would be an opportunity to remake them before 3.

*Ahem*

the only reason the "enhanced" editions exist is for Beamdog to cash out,the BG modding community is so alive that there is no need for a remake, the "enhanced" edition itself is just a compilation of stolen mods

that has to be one of my all-time favorite images

That so looks so soulless I think I saw Shang Tsung behind one of the cages for a second there.

Is there a good item mod for this game out there, which doesn't just add the items into the game via a merchant? I really want to have a +5 mace in this game. Kinda sad that some items are seriously underrepresented.

>wanting a BG remake
it could never be done right. there is so much happening in the game that's just conveyed via text that it would take an army of directors, animators and actors to fully translate into 3D. BG2 especially relies too heavily on the player's imagination, that shit just doesn't happen anymore.

There are some mods for that but most of them are incredibly unbalanced. Most mods for these games are really unbalanced in general

Oh fuck sorry. I don't want a remake, I want a proper remaster with QoL improvements and modern resolutions and framerate.

IWD2 sucks.

>and modern resolutions
So you want every sprite redrawn?

>framerate
Sprites so what's the point?

>So you want every sprite redrawn?
We have AI for that now.

>Sprites so what's the point?
So walking through 1 zone doesn't take 5 hours.

>So walking through 1 zone doesn't take 5 hours.
just eat a yogurt

Better than BG1.

>We have AI for that now.
It is capable of creating more complex artwork using simple artwork as a basis? As in we have true AI now, a person, rivalling or surpassing human intelligence? Could you give me a link for more info?

Does it buff my ingame walking speed?

It's actually pretty good, I recommend trying it out if you have DA:O installed

business.letsenhance.io/

Fuuuuck
I knew things were bad, but THIS really is awful.

God i hate beamdog, who is that bitch who was always complaining about consumption? She talked like a fucking commie. I remember a party banter and one of her lines was marxist bullshit about unequal consumption and redistributing wealth, fucking writer OCs man

no but it passes the time and promotes gut health

Well, I do like yogurt.

No, this is not what is required here. You need to add missing details, not merely calculate what functions describe what shapes and extrapolate more precise shapes from that.

so is irenicus a rapist?

I'd be fine with just sharper image in 1080. Even if the whole area could be visible and surrounded with black bars.

>Even if the whole area could be visible
to me, it would only make sense to remaster the visuals if they were actually zoomed in to the original intended height. that's the problem with upscaling CRPGs, it just becomes an ant simulator.

Ah so Dragon Age I see...

I get you. There would be problem with unreadable fonts but the small window of visibility in BG 1 makes me sick.

Attached: baldursgatemmo.jpg (640x480, 90K)

After all these years, I've just realised that the inventory button is a bag. I always thought it was some weird fucking bald dude with a bandana

I agree that it's a bit much but it was an easy way back in the day to make the world feel much larger than it actually was. These games look their best at 1024x768 imo.

dragonspear yea or nah

>some weird fucking bald dude with a bandana
I'm tilting my head back and forth zooming in and out unable to see this at all. I think you may be retarded.

Yeah but then you need a screen that can change aspect to 4:3. Otherwise it would still hurt the image. I guess there is no perfect solution here that doesn't involve remaking some stuff.

Do you enjoy nailling your balls?

nah, unless you're going for an EET installation which needs it, but even then you should just avoid it, it's a trash module.

He's looking to the right and the buckle is his eye. I swear he looked fucking weird but that's what I though

>He's looking to the right and the buckle is his eye
Well I guess if you ignore the darkened section and only take the lighted spots it kinda looks like grey fox or Agraya.

Attached: Untitled.jpg (911x255, 67K)

If you're looking for some combatfaggotry yea for at least once, if you're storyfag skip

What class fits the CHARNAME's Candelkeep origin story the most?

Attached: Candlekeep_artwork.jpg (640x327, 33K)

I dunno about what class fits their ORIGIN story the most, but since the canon party seemed to be a thief/mage, fighter, fighter/druid, ranger, and invoker, I assume one of the better classes to round that team out would be a cleric or something...?

In that canon party's canon Abdel is fighter though

Ouch, how boring

Fighter/Mage makes the most sense.

You're naturally a fighter but you're being raised by a bunch of wizards.

Not Sorcerer then?
>Sorcerers are practitioners of magic who are born with the innate ability to cast spells. It is thought that the blood of some powerful creature flows through their veins; perhaps they are the spawn of the gods themselves, or even dragons walking in humanoid form. Regardless, the Sorcerer's magic is intuitive rather than logical. They know fewer spells than Mages, and acquire spells more slowly, but they can cast spells more often and have no need to select and prepare spells ahead of time. Sorcerers cannot specialize in magic the way Mages do. Other than these differences, a Sorcerer is very similar to a Mage.

Basically the wild child that wants to know magic but finds books, tomes and scribing for NERDS. Manages to learn about magic regardless but only manages to throw spells through channeling power from their godlike blood and willpower.

Is there even a Fighter/Sorcerer Multiclass?

If you think rape was the extent of the tortures Irenicus inflicted upon Imoen to awaken her slayer, you have a lot to learn.

Sorcerer doesn't make sense because they didn't exist in 2e. But if they did it would, IIRC one of the possible sorcerers is divine soul which is a descendant of a god and has powers related to that

Fighter, thief, mage or bard all work really well.

Just download the original games you fucks. It's not hard to just download and install some mods afterwards or play vanilla if you want.

Attached: tittied.jpg (614x435, 73K)

Why not just get the gog classic versions and avoid the headache of trying to find the correct patches to get them updated?

>Sorcerers may not dual-class.
Doesn't seem like it. I just thought sorcerer incorporated the philosophical side of a fighter (not the literal brawling and peak physique traits tho) combined with how it leads to casting spells like a mage.

try spending 5 minutes looking. How long have you been using the internet

Attached: tet.jpg (775x190, 47K)

Quick question. Baldur's gate 1, what's better (for a cleric if it matters); maces or warhammers?

look at all that shit, just install the gog classic version and it has everything already done for you.

freegogpcgames.com/162/baldurs-gate-the-original-saga/

freegogpcgames.com/160/baldurs-gate-2-complete/

I remember the initial praise they got in their forums when the "real" hexxat was discovered. Of course, it lasted a couple of hours, at best, since even the more cucked fanatics complained about bugs and lack of "quality writing".

>Dark Horizon
What a piece of shit but, well, all planetbg mods are like that.

EET

>5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.
I still don't understand why modders support this abomination... now the EET author is spining around trying to "fix" the IWD campaign in BG/BG2 without clashes with the story presented in Dragonspear.

Attached: iwd-in-ee.png (1006x725, 1.29M)

also those dudes in nashkel cemetary, phoenix guards or something like that.
they're pretty tough fuckers if they swarm you what with exploding like fireballs upon death and all

>using the NPC project mod
>sneak my way in to the Bandit Camp by pretending to join them
>Kivan actually fucking attacks Tazok
[PANIC]

EET isn't going to integrate IWD2 because IWD2 has no source code, it's gone missing and no one can find it.

IWD2 will remain pure until the end of time, free from beamdog's paws, thankfully.

The canon class is fighter, but thief, mage, Oghman cleric fit as well

Weidu mods are a fucking miracle. Imagine if Bethesda games had a loader like this?

And you still can't play EET without Dragonspear because
>I-it's actually good, everyone TOTALLY should play it!
>No more EET support for the bigots who simply want to play the classic trilogy btw :)

Don't do this. Seriously. I know that the temptation of having a big BG install is tempting, but you will be pissed at the end for doing so. Because 99% of the big quest mods are complete and unfiltered garbage.

This goes for BG1 and BG2. If you wanna get some extra content, get some companion mods that come with their own little quests.

Dragon's eye is the hardest dungeon of the main game

kinda feel bad for you

What did someone find IWD2 source code? Unlikely.

So what's exactly wrong with Dragonspear beside it being action heavy and light on story?

It's not lost, the problem is that an EE of IWD2 wouldn't be as simple as copy/paste from BG2 due to the 3E ruleset, you just need to wait for Beamdog to have competent developers to see IWD2 EE

Zerker mage dual is pretty hyphy when you get your zerker levels back.

Blade is fucking gay, FMT only works in solo or small party runs.

Mage thief is the definitive BG2 experience.

How can you avoid Neera in bg2?

How can you avoid the monk dude without meta knowledge in bg2?

Fuck you.

Some people think the way some things are written go against how they were originally. One of the examples is how Jaheira and Khalid go on a vacation for example, would they really do that when they are meant to be your guardians, requested by your foster father who died recently?

>wait for beamdog to have competent people
so, never?

Exactly

>It's not lost
Not according to Beamdog. They literally said IWD2 EE neverever because no one has the source code. Apparently this is Interplay's fault and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

>It's not lost
pcgamer.com/icewind-dale-2-cant-be-enhanced-because-the-source-code-is-lost/

thats 50 year old man

Never played it, but at the very least it's unnecessary - it stops you from going straight into BG2 after finishing BG1 content. The game is already huge, so I don't need subpar quest mods.
Also, I'm fine with BG1 NPC Project writing for the companions, so I don't want them to suddenly change their personality.

>One of the examples is how Jaheira and Khalid go on a vacation for example, would they really do that when they are meant to be your guardians

Jesus fuck it's the Citadel DLC all over again. I have never experienced more cringe, fan fiction and fan service at the same time.

>looks worse than the originals
I'm probably the biggest Morrigan fag going but holy shit DA:O graphically aged like fine yogurt.

F/M or M/T

I can't remember much about the game desu but story is imo quite important in an rpg. Also there's some retarded characters and the only combat that i actually remember was fucking retarded, the point of the combat was to fucking run across the map to do something and after that it was like 2 hits and done.
That was some sort of "mini-boss" or some shit like that

Always kill her for the 8k xp

It's in your face fanfiction.

No, but with work you can adapt iwd2 content in eet and checking the thread in g3, they are doing exactly that.

I think it looks fine for some parts, I like most armor designs. It has this comfy fantasy feeling I don't get in many other rpgs

Attached: da_girls_crop.jpg (640x452, 133K)

The only thing it does is gives an explanation on how PC and his/her friends got kidnapped. Then again, it wasn't necessary since bg2 actually tells that.
On the other hand, it raises your xp cap to i think 500k (original bg had somewhere around 89k and totsc about 150k iirc). It's quite weird to get to 500k xp when you normally start bg2 at lvl 6/7/8 (depending on class) while you could end SoD at level ~9/10.

actually, you could have lvl 12 characters at the start of bg2 if you import them from SoD (assuming you get all the xp with you) which obviously makes essentially every combat pointless since you can just autoattack on sight and never even have to do shit

Why when you can just remove a single spell from your spellbook relearn it and gain 9k xp? Or do a Flesh to Stone -> Stone to Flesh loop on some mook.

There are much better way to get XP.

Everyone as really weirdly wide shoulders, it makes everyone looks unnatural.

Because i want to

>No, but with work you can adapt iwd2 content in eet
How it has a totally different ruleset from the toher games, it wouldn't be the same game if you just remade it using BGII's engine.

Serious question, what do you guys think happened or what they were thinking when they did the inventory screen in bg2?
The armors looks god awful on the model, they just never seem to fit the models properly and/or are misaligned

but don't you know that's a bad thing? It's bad!

best method to play BG online without dragging the game too much with pause?

play on story mode

At this point he might aswell find script online and read it.

Have an inquisitor

I just started playing BG EE as an Archer two days ago! I never finished either game. Any tips and tricks? Party member suggestions? I'm having a lot of fun with it, although obviously a few things are a little annoying because it is an older game (like being unable to click in the blacked-out unexplored areas of a zone).

Is the multiplayer decent?

Get some of those

Attached: you can throw 5 per round.jpg (512x532, 251K)

Depends entire on your friends.

You adapt, tweak and changes the rules. There is a mod already for BG adapting 3.5 rules. They will probably add some skills/spells as abilities/feats, here and here for classes, some HLA and that's it. I don't think they can add subraces without conitnues crashes tho.

yes, exact same game.

>so full of bullshit but I love it
this, although I beat 2 multiply times I haven't beat 1 though people told me it was easier.

Is there a Yea Forums or /vr/ approved mod guide for these games?

Man, I'm such a faggot for expecting something else after all this time.

I always burn out in the same general area in BG1.
I've been playing these games basically since 2000, and yet I've only beaten BG2 once and I've yet to make it to ToB.
Feels bad man. I'm really hoping the games coming to PS4 will help me get through them. Playing on the PC is such fucking suffering.

Same but I have some tism that prevents me from playing BG2 before I finish 1

Thanks, lads

>but I have some tism that prevents me from playing BG2 before I finish 1
That's why I've only finished 2 once.

I'm going to take the same character through the entire series, God damn it. One day. When I don't fucking hate gaming from my desktop more than anal rape.
One day...

My party the now is Viconia, Imoen, Khalid, Minsc and Jaheera, I was thinking of dropping Viconia for a good spellcaster of some sort since I'm going for a good party overall.
Good Alignment that is.

Two possibilities, IIRC: they either vanish from the game, or stay right where you leave them indefinitely.

I think the only NPCs who vanish are NPCs you drop before you achieve whatever their joining stipulation was (dropping Minsc before you rescue Dynaheir; droppong Khalid and Jaheira/Montaron and Xzar before Chaper 2).

I think basically everyone else just stands where you leave them.

Recommend you download the mod NPCTweaks. If nothing else, you can install the option that lets you direct an NPC to wait somewhere specific when you dismiss them.

Well shit

>Tutu, BGEE Only
I'm like 99.998% sure I've used it in ToSC. Unless I've just played so much Tutu my brain's turned to jelly, which is possible.

Nah, here it is:

>gibberlings3.github.io/Documentation/readmes/readme-cdtweaks.html
>BG NPCs go to inns (DavidW/Zed Nocear)

I think I told you the wrong thing. Tweaks Anthology might not = NPCTweaks. My bad.

>It turns out the genesis of the Story mode is based on feedback from a team member who was new to Infinity Engine games (from the latest interview).
It was one of the SoD writers, the one that don't play games, of course. He tweet this

After a forum member said that a person like that shouldnt work on IE games.

So is there Edwina romance or not?

No worries, thanks for the help mate.

I remember thinking about this as curiosity or a chance for some funny and bizarre dialogues. But these days, imagine someone at Beamdog writing an Edwina romance...

Why not, play as a burly warrior and mating press her. I wish there was mod like that...
