I got to the Shinra HQ and the game is literally imbearable. Can't be arsed to finish it. How's this one of the best games of all time? Seriously?

ZOOMER GOING ZOOMIES

Continue playing, you faggot. You'll thanks me.

>dialogue
>"cutscenes"

>Turns you into a frog

Nothing personell kid.

How in the fuck where you supposed to know that first time against him?

Attached: Sephiroth.png (908x1085, 652K)

Its not even the best final fantasy. You've been lied to by an aging hot-topic-shopping, belt-and-zipper-loving, nostalgia-clenching, flabbergasted-by-3d generation of absolute fuckwits.

VI > IX > X > VII > VIII > the rest.

so you didn't even get past the tutorial?

You haven't started the game yet.

Babby's First RPG isn't just a meme. It got popular for being the first one the PSX babbies ever played, or reeled in the normie fucks of 1997 with the FMVs which Sony spent millions advertising since FMV and regular voice acting were the only things the Playstation could do that the competition couldn't. It was the worst one in the series for a long time, until 13 and 15 came along.

just continue
as soon you are out and on a bike chase you are near the end and you finished the game, trust me

It's odd and worrying that the instinct to conquer the HQ isn't ignited in you. Perhaps you shouldn't play video games?

It gets better after Midgar.

Don't worry it gets better once you leave Midgar and it really picks up once you get to Cosmo Canyon.

I've never played the game but any retard that says arse instead of ask is retarded anyone that says arsed instead of asked is a retard's dumber more retarded cousin.

>arse is another word for ass, user

I know but only retard's use it, honestly non English speakers need to assimilate or die, dialects with stupid words count as non English.

>Frustrated by arse
>Not "imbearable"

>using the zoomer "ass" instead of boomer "arse"

How? 6 and 7 are basically the same game.

What is up with the hate for Midgar the past few hours?

>random battle with Marlboro
>instantly casts bad breath
>everyone kills themselves and each other
>fight over in 28 seconds.
>Game Over.
>haven't saved in 2 hours.

guess I'll join in

Attached: zoom.jpg (840x1033, 75K)

It has been there for decades. This is natural. Outside Midgar is more like Final Fantasies before, so of course the Midgar part got hate from the beginning.

I knew nothing about that stuff and still preferred post-Midgar and continue to do so. Midgar is still very nice though.

You’re almost done with the tutorial. Once you’re done with that part you get to the world map and the actual game starts.

What’s truly awful is the remake coming out it entirely based on the Midgar part of the game

Game doesn't even start until after Midgar. You people are the type of faggots that make FF7R acceptable.
>that faggot on Yea Forums years ago that brags about beating the Midgar part and then resetting to beat it again
The game is about leveling up your characters and making them OP and shit. If you don't want an RPG, don't bother and also kill yourself.

VI is not as good as you remember. IX was a weak entry that should have been a side story. It’s okay but it’s not better than VII or X. XIII is worse than Crisis Core

I guess but it's gotten worse recently. Is it because the remake is going to expand Midgar?

Past few hours?

First time playing it really drags because all the game is in Midgar

and I really dont want to say but the game really gets good after you leave Midgar

This is like the 3rd FF7 thread I've found with dislike for Midgar. I dunno if it's the in-thing for FF threads now.

Probably. FF7R doesn’t just expand Midgar though, it is Midgar: the game. The entire game is Midgar. That’s worse than Tifa’s breast reduction.

It’s because of the remake

>imbearable

YAAA ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM
YAAA ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM

I like Midgar as a setting but going through it I fucking hated it. It was a complete drag and I couldn't wait to finally get out of there. I'm hoping the FF7 remake actually makes it enjoyable.

Hot take: Midgar is the best part of the game and the game never reaches the same heights as it.

I just played VI recently and it's a great game, I would say much better than VII by any standards

I thought Midgar was way longer. I remember it felt like forever as a kid and just being so engrossed.

The feeling of leaving Midgar being like emerging into Hyrule Field for the first time.

Replaying it now and crazy how short it was. I guess because the pacing's so good and just how engrossing the setting is.

>trying to grind Beta off Midgar Zolom
>mfw

Midgar is the epitome of everything wrong with FF7. Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core. Etc. It’s everything wrong with FF7 and everything that Square somehow believes is FF7, hence being the basis for an entire fucking episode of FF7 remake. Square does not understand FF7. Most of the people involved with FF7 no longer work for Square. I would rather play an entire game based on the Nibelheim flashback.. actually no nevermind. I wouldn’t want Square to make it and that’s probably going to be episode 2 anyways

Second half of the game is shit though I wouldn’t mind an episodic modern remake with the first episodes taking place entirely in Narshe with magitek armor. I shouldn’t give them any ideas

Found the marketing shill

>I wouldn’t mind an episodic modern remake with the first episodes taking place entirely in Narshe with magitek armor
That sounds so fucking lame.

So does an entire game taking place in the Midgar part

>not an entire game of cid abusing shera

why live

The first time i played it in 1997 i was stuck on the Rufus/Elevator fight for what felt like weeks. So finally leaving Midgar felt glorious

you're pretending to be retarded, right?

>6fag trying to condescend anyone
bruh, look at this dood

I’m honestly being serious

>Continue playing, you faggot
Yeah who can forget the incredible dolphin jumping minigame and the interminable chase plot around the world

i see so you ARE retarded, thanks for clearing that up.

Any other Boomers remember when FFVII wasn't universally considered one of the GOATs? It's amusing and downright amazing how time can collectively sway popular opinion. FFVIII had a better post release reception.

Attached: lilkim.jpg (500x604, 68K)

honestly this .
I like VII and other old FF games.
but I like it because of the characters and world.
the combat is dogshit, as is a plot of the gameplay. it is way too god damned easy and the overall plot is kinda meh. I love when nostalgia ridden retards who have never played a real turn based RPG complain about XV having simple combat or whatever, without a shred of irony.

I remember FFVIII being really popular with normies and a small group of friends liking FFVII.

>when you realize zoomers will never get that feeling of awe going from 2D to 3D
>will never understand what it's like to be stuck in a game for days or weeks
>don't even wait until Christmas/Birthday to get a new game, and just watch it instantly on youtube or twitch instead

It is how must, if not everyone in the UK says it. it is just Americans mispronuncing words that say "ass"

to be fair, vii was not as hotly anticipated because it didn't have ffvii as a lead in. People sort of discovered VII over time, and then when VIII was coming out they were super hype and all had Playstations. Like Halo 2 being more hype than Halo. MW2 over Cod4. etc. Sequels always seem to do better and it is tragic.

>FFVIII had a better post release reception.
Only in gaming magazines/media and video game shops that showed VIII's cutscenes 24/7. It was a fucking terrible time. Luckily I know only a single game that has FFVIII as an explicit inspiration. I was so afraid at the time, that video games were about to become unfun.

Final Fantasy VII is one of the more interesting JRPGs I've played, if only for Midgar. If you find it unbearable, there's not much more you can do: by that point I was hooked.

I used to invite my friends over to watch the FMVs when i got to them

>know I'm getting ff9 for xmas
>see it wrapped under the tree
>unwrap it every night and play for a couple hours before wrapping it again
>already finished the 1st CD before xmad

Attached: images (2).png (240x210, 7K)

Simple. It was the first JRPG for damn near an entire generation that truly turned the genre into a worldwide phenomenon. The game is super rough in Modern Year (which is partially why I'm sort of excited for the Remake maybe living up to what nostalgic 90s kids think FFVII is), but nostalgia is a wonderful thing

yeah, it was though.
I hate that FF7 started the trend of having games with 13+ hours of dialog comprising some 20% of playtime as opposed to 1-4 hours making up 5% of the play time which was standard in the SNES era.
But FF7 still tried to be a good well-paced videogame and you can see this right from the first 15 minutes where the combat and gameplay are put front and center.

Midgar is the best section of the game though.

The only thing I’m getting out of this is you are offended by criticism to Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core. Which are all objectively awful

>Midgar is the best section of the game though
It’s the worst section. Your reward for making it through is the actual game starts

FFVII disappeared off the radar pretty fast. FFVIII overshadowed it pretty quickly because their releases were so close. I remember FFVIII being a really big deal because it was right on the coat-tails of FFVII. Then IX came a bit after that. No one started heavily talking/reflecting on FFVII until around the time FFX came out.

I think we had a similar childhood lmao

VII remained popular even during the time of VIII and IX's releases in fact those games rode on the coattails of VII's tremendous success. I think the fact that those two games were mediocre at best also helped to grow VII's legend.

I dont know why people hate on Midgard. Blowing the reactors was cool, Cloud was kind of a dick the first hour so watching him getting into silly stuff with Aeris was funny and shit hits the fan once Shinra goes DELETE THIS on your hometown while kidnapping the girl. Of course walking into the world was great but Midgard wasnt terrible

>imbearable

Attached: beary.jpg (1000x809, 220K)

Well, everyone's social network was different. This all happened back in a time when AOL Message Boards were the most people place to discuss these games. So what we experienced as being "a big deal" is pretty localized to our immediate social groups. In mine, we all stopped discussing FFVII when the FFVIII hyper started. And we actually never talking about it nostalgically again. The next time I started hearing about it was on the 'real' internet once it had spread to normies and there were tons of gaming websites with open discussion.

4-5 hours is too long for a tutorial. People are hating on it because now they’re making now they’re stretching that 4-5 hours info a 40-50 hour JRPG

I just finished FF7 again and I'm really surprised at how great it still is. And I didn't even grow up with this game.

Same, two days ago, and I can't get over how Aeris' death serves to shadow Cloud's twist super well.

Now that the dust has settled was cait sith a mistake?

>Signature attack is using a weaker meteor spell at the party.
>Literally can't kill the party.

Red XIII, Cait Sith, and Vincent are all cringe.

>imbearable
Yeah I think Fortnite or Uncharted might be more your speed

After being on my backlog for almost 2
decades, I finally got around to playing FF VII and the thing that keeps impressing me is how well they directed the important scenes. The build-up to Aeris's death and Tifa pulling Cloud out of the lifestream both really jumped out to me as particularly well done.

>wants to play a game about the Nibelheim flashback
>doesn't want to play Crisis Core
Nah m8 just admit you're retarded.
