none of that felt as satisfying as KH2FM combat, also combat felt like a cutscene at times because of weird camera work and cinematography. Look at how Sora has the field stop and camera flip as he changes into Ice Skates.

Both. Disney clearly forced shit like the random singing during Frozen, but Nomura didn't reign in B-Team with their shitty combat system, added in a bunch of flash-and-flare fluff shit, and didn't even attempt to pace the story. We should have been freeing characters from the past all throughout the game as well as fighting Org members in each of the Disney worlds, instead of just dumping it all at the end.

it wasn't horrible, it was just too much hype for a just-ok game

Kinda. Nomura wanted to make Elza the bad guy in the frozen world but Frozen team said no, so he had to change things up. He also wanted to make her a party member and created the dungeon sora was trapped in but Frozen team said no. It was also mostley the same with the other diseny worlds. The only worlds where nomura got freedom where Olympus (only because it was in the other KH games) Toy Story and monsters inc. so yeah disney kinda fucked up.
Still doesn't explain the terrible story pacing

Disney didin't had the right's to marvel when they decided which worlds will be in Kingdom Hearts. So marvel will probably be in the next KH game

It would have been garbage execution no matter how much the fans "Wanted" it. That being Said Big Hero 6 was originally a Marvel Comic series before it was retooled into the movie, so it still happened in a way.
