I have played neither of these games before and have very little actual knowledge about them. I just finished Dark Souls III and I want to play an open-world fantasy game which isn't as frustrating as the Souls series. I know Witcher is held in high-regard but I have a suspicion that Skyrim will have a more satisfying sense of exploration and combat. Can you recommend one of them for me.
Witcher 3 or Skyrim
I just got W3 on PS4 and there's a 20GB update file, so there's that.
:|
i recommend Witcher 3, cuz combat is closer to Dark Souls 3 and the world is bigger than Skyrim
combat is shit in both games you just spam left click, funny thing is that the witcher 3 has a deeper more fleshed out combat .
about exploration skyrim is somewhat better because you can interact with the world more and its more of a sandbox than the witcher.
Both games are good but i'd say start with skyrim if chill walking-exploration simulators is your thing.
Skyrim, if you want an open world RPG.
Witcher 3, if you want an open world action adventure game that masquerades as an RPG.
Play Morrowind
if you're interested in a good self contained story with fixed characters, and even interesting story intereactions, play Witcher.
if you're more interested about the gameplay in form of character building (visually and playstyle wise) and world exploration, play skyrim.
these games are vastly different.
skyrim gets bonus points for absolute fuckload of mods it has
Dark Souls is amazing. You can dodge and run around and backstab. :O
This is true, but you are overselling Skyrim's roleplaying elements. Skyrim has cucked mechanics, but the witcher is just more fundamentally an action adventure game, not a role playing game.
This but unironically.
Skyrim has better exploreation, Music, Immersion and a Lot of mods. Witcher for evrything elese
Skyrim for the titty mods.
kek
The Witcher 3 has significantly more satisfying exploration and combat and huge worlds where you can encounter stuff and find treasures or bandits or whatever, the open world in TW3 is full if nothing else. TES doesn't have combat as one of it's strong suites, you just walk up to enemies and slash and they barely react ala Oblivion.
The witcher 3 is also significantly more soulful. The cities are big, the villages small. The NPC's have lots of lines, the story is great (especially in the DLC's), there's fun minigames that you can take part in but not forced to (Gwent and horse racing), it's just a significantly more memorable and satisfying experience. You will finish the witcher 3 and remember it for a long time, unlike Skyrim, which you will remember as that other TES open world you played.
If you insist on playing a TES, try oblivion. It's old but better than skyrim.
skyrim by far. witcher 3 is straight ass and doesnt possess nearly half of what skyrim has to offer. you'd be moron to waste your $20 on w3 instead of skyrim.
or, maybe youre a guy who has $40 and buys both games for some odd reason.
this is excellent
Witcher 3 is better, but I recommend playing Skyrim first, so you can enjoy both.
>Witcher 3 is straight as-
top jej
They're both the same. Mediocre as fuck gameplay, terrible combat, dirivative writing and shitty music. Just pick one.
If you value content and atmosphere then Skyrim.
If you like story then Witcher 3 (but mostly its DLC).
Combat is a toss up. Neither will wow you. Witcher's 3 is slightly deeper.
Don't be fooled into thinking Witcher 3's world is a vast and full of fun explorable stuff. It's quite boring and the rewards for exploring and doing the ?'s are zippo for the most part. Just shit you don't need/won't use. Skyrim's side content at least rewards you with competent equipment and upgrades.
>Skyrim's side content at least rewards you with competent equipment and upgrades.
No it doesn't, the shitty leveling system guarantees that legendary super unique sword will be useless by the time you reach level 12 if you did the quest too early.
>If you value content and atmosphere then Skyrim
delusional, there's literally no category in which skyshit, a soulless todd cashgrab, is better than TWC3.
Character Costumization
>I want to play an open-world fantasy game
Breath of the Wild>Gothic 2>Morrowind>Dragon's Dogma>Witcher 3>Oblivion>Skyrim
Being an RPG.
play witcher 1 and 2 first you ass
If you’re going to get the Witcher make sure you get the definitive version on the switch
Rent free.
I would rather read the Witcher books than play either game
Based and high IQ pilled. Post your reddit account name and I'll make sure you're invited to the next Rick and Morty con.
>The Witcher 3 has significantly more satisfying exploration
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Didn't even bother reading the rest.
Don't expect DaS3 tier combat in either of these games. There's no "builds" per say. But they are comfy adventure games, which is more the case with TW3 especially. If you like better combat, a larger world and a better story with better sidequests, I'd say go for TW3.
Based.
read the rest when you take your dose of dyslexia control meds
You can fit skyrim's entire map in Novigrad alnoe 3 times over, let alone Skellige and Toussaint.
Cope, betheshit shill.
Different generation games. I don't like Skyrim much but the comparison is pretty dumb.
Eww
witcher 3
skyrim is fucking garbage I always quit after a few hours and never come back
skyrim is probobly more enjoyable but witcher 3 story is more fleshed out
watch it Neddy
>implying I was defending Skyrim
>hurr big map = good exloration
Fucking retarded drone.
Skyrim, because fuck playing as geralt.
TW3 didn't come up with the big cities idea in video games.
Niether are great games, but at least Skyrim is an actual rpg.
the witcher 3 is hands down the definitive best open world in the industry for the past two decades. Skyrim is overmarketed and overhyped garbage that rode on the wave created by the success of previous elder scroll games and it gained traction over time only due to autistic faggots inserting catgirls into an otherwise empty world.
If you want to play open world fantasy, limit yourself to Dragon's Dogma or The Witcher 3. Don't look anywhere else.
So TW3 is best played with a controller right?
before you pollute your palette with either of them irrevocably, go back and play earlier tes games, gothic or any non linear rpg.
they both suck
Neither are great or even particularly good games but the Witcher 3 is the more enjoyable viewing experience out of the two. Probably still worth trying Skyrim just to see what all the fuss is about, piracy is free after all.
I play it with MKB though controller too is fine. Looking around while riding a horse is alot easier with the controller IIRC but navigating menus quickly is alot easier with MKB
OP here. Is it true that Oblivion is superior to Skyrim?
Witcher 3 if you want a fully-functioning, high-quality RPG experience with a great storyline, graphics, atmosphere, etc.
Skyrim if you want to play something where everything was half-assed, the story makes no sense, and the only possible way to play it is to download content other people created to make your experience bearable.
kys morrowfag.
Not really. I have a huge soft-spot for Oblivion but for every one thing it does better Skyrim does 2 things better. For Skyrim I recommend immediately getting SkyUI because the vanilla PC UI is ass.
bro you can do like 3 things in that city tho. tes has never been topped with the interactivity of the world. if you want to do myore than shave skyrim all the way
No, not at all.
you made that other thread didnt you. if you can take the hours to figure out modding, skyrim will give you the best experience.
No, I haven't participated in a modding thread recently.
Probably Skyrim w/mods over the Witcher desu. White hair yellow eyes is a fun game but Skyrim feels endless and mods make it infinite
