Play Ultra Sun/Moon instead, no reason to play the regular ones.
Platinum is still the hardest mainline game, but US/UM are at least harder than Gen 5 games and X/Y.

It has the technically hardest fight in the series, but like any other Pokemon fight, it can be cheesed if you know what to do.

Not really. It’s pleasantly challenging compared to other mainline entries if you turn off Exp Share, use Set battle style, and obviously don’t grind, but you really want to look into romhacks for actual difficulty.

All the 3DS games are shit.

Ultra Sun/Moon is the "hard" one and that's only because they fixed a few totem fights (The dragon one mainly, it's a joke in vanilla) and one new boss fight.

No caves or dungeons or exploring of any kind
Unskippable cutscenes in basically every new area
The game is super easy
You will hate any Pokémon that uses a flying animation in battle

I thoroughly enjoyed them, but I'm one of the none cynical type people that can enjoy something for what it is. I think it depends on the person

It's easy, has an hour long tutorial, and tonnes of lengthy unskipable cutscenes.

It can get hard if you really don't know what to expect or have a truly shit team, since at one point the game throws a pokemon in your way with stat boots that you can't really outlevel at that point.

That's the thing, in USM there's Ultra Necrozma and everyone has gotten it into their head that he's hard because he wrecked a few people.
But what they didn't realise was that it was done by making it 10 levels higher than the natural scaling of the game so if you played without grinding you're more likely to have a hard time.

In other words it's the definition of artificial difficulty.

If you haven't played SM, skip it and play USUM.

ORAS are the best Pokemon games on the 3DS.
ORAS>XY>SM>USUM

I actually lucked out with that fight because I had always wanted a team with Zoroark on it. Since I never encountered Necrozma in Moon I didn't know it's typing for the fight in Ultra so I used Zoroark as a meat shield. Imagine my surprise when Photon Geyser did absolutely nothing.

It has a character in it that makes the game miserable unless you're a waifufag.

Its awful, no exploration, linear routes, unskipable cutscenes that go for waaaaaay too long, some areas feel unfinished, poor postgame.

Just get something else instead, like digimon, dq monsters or smt.
