DRG, they greatly reduced the really heavy dps penalty for fucking up positioning, and you've good party support, and it's strong as shit at the moment. Go roleplay as Nidhogg

Samurai sounds cool i'm going to main one

Samurai is pretty easy. Black mage is basically ranged samurai. Dragoon is easy too. To be honest, they're all pretty easy. MNK and NIN require a bit more brainpower than SAM and BLM. RDM is one of the easiest DPSers out there. It doesn't top charts, but the insta-rez is GREAT for DUTY FINDER.

They are all punishing if you fuck up, DRG is the easiest to not fuck up since it's super rigid

I haven't played since 3.2 or so, but MNK was pretty straight forward in my opinion, what's it like now?

If you don't want to DRG, then SAM. It's a bit harder because to do really well you've to pay close attention to cooldowns, your kenki gauge and your Sen count and have the proper amounts available at the proper times, mainly having 1 Sen when your DoT is about to fall off so you can reapply it, and 3 Sen just as Tsubame Gaeshi is about to come off cooldown for SAMs double Midare nuke. Once you get into the swing of things it should be easy enough to follow. You've to do better yourself than you did on DRG cause SAM has absolutely no party utility and is entirely selfish. After that, Monk is the next most difficult and Ninja is in it's own tier above those three where to even do decent damage you've to work your ass off and even then you're only there for Trick attack

SAM is the easiest melee dps

PLD has a high potency heal with high MP costs but Atonement makes it easier to recoup. Was able to carry plenty of fights with that and Intervention alone when the healers died.

Every tank has self-heals to some extent. PLD's self-heal is just it's own button.

Rigid with five trillion oGCDs to spam that are basically worthless feeling. Both Egi-Assaults and Energy Drain are pretty prime examples of this. The oGCDs are particularly rough since once you run out of Ruin 4 procs if you're forced to move or whatever outside of either Trance you're basically taking a hit to potency by using Ruin 2 or clipping your GCD and with how worthless most of the oGCDs are you wind losing the same damage either way.

Tank anxiety is a fucking meme, it's never been hard to tank. Have nothing but contempt for your healer's mana.

Why level a tank then if you're too much of a pussy to use it in party content? ShB made it leagues easier now where you'll only lose agro with tank stance on if you're actively trying to suck. Learn positioning and you're good to go for 90% of duties. Just:

>use CDs at start of pulls, hold when below 4 enemies. In raids, use CDs for tankbusters
>use fucking AOE moves when 3+ mobs
>use interrupts and stuns for mob casts if your DPS are retarded
>stay in one spot as much as possible for melee unless you have to dodge AOE
Start with Sastasha if you have to but tanking is brain dead easy.

It’s also the epitome of a “no bro it gets better 40+ hours in” kinda game. SAM is honestly pretty easy and is a high-tier damage dealer anyway, as far as DPS goes. Monk is also really good now too, but it's way WAY more technical and requires a lot more with positioning. Honestly start out with monk and see how you like it, and at level 50 you can transition to Samurai if you want.

Depends on how much you want to support the others, really. Dancer is pure support, Bard is a mix of support and damage, Machinist is pure damage. Red Mage is mainly support and the most mobile of the three, Summoner is combination support and damage, Black Mage is immobile for long stretches and is pure damage.

It's not a DPS loss. It's higher DPS than using four Spread Shots in that same window of time. Four Spread Shots is 720 potency, 900 if your SkS is low enough to do five in ten seconds, which if it is you're doing it wrong since SkS is the worst stat for MCH. Flamethrower is 100 potency a second for ten seconds, thus 1000 potency over ten seconds.
