No it didn't.

Super Mario Bros. 2 (or Super Mario USA) was released in the US on 10/9/1988.
Super Mario Bros. 3 was released in Japan on 10/23/1988. USA didn't get SMB3 until 2 years later, on 2/12/1990.

And Super Mario Bros. USA wasn't even released as such in Japan until 1992. Your comparison is retarded.

Listen here dumbfuck. SMB2 was a reskin of Doki Doki Panic, which was released on 7-10-1987. Between that and Japanese SMB3 was 1 year, just as between US SMB2 and 3 there was 1.5 years. Considering back then in the age before everyone was on the internet, the ocean and language barrier created a natural blackout effect which meant one country only perhaps learned of games released in the other years after the fact, and you have a solid case for fucking nobody except Nintendo themselves to be even aware of the tiny release window of these games in two completely different language regions.

I'm not OP by the way, be he was right, they were released within 14 days of each other.

They were released 1 year from each other. DDP = SMB2 since minus a save feature and a run button they're exactly the same game.

super mario 2 is fucking terrible.

>DDP = SMB2
Doki Doki Panic isn't super mario brothers 2. It's Doki Doki Panic. Where is Mario in Doki Doki Panic if it's actually Mario 2?

>if I take a sonic game and sprite hack mario in there then it's now a mario game and completely different
Not how it works you little shit. There's no difference in mechanics or level content, it's the same game with slightly different graphics.

Uh actually there are subtle differences, the most paramount of which is it doesn't have fucking mario.

It has Birdo, shyguys, starmen and a pow block, which makes it a distinct Mario game. Because y'know, it's the exact same damn game.

>smash bros has sonic in it so therefore it's a sonic game

So you're saying SMB2 isn't a Mario game at all despite the sprites hacked in? In that case my point still stands that DDP absolutely is SMB2.

super mario bros. 2 (USA) is a mario game
doki doki panic is not a mario game

one has mario and one doesn't. cope.

So Smash Bros. is now suddenly a Sonic game according to you, when you just said it wasn't. It has Sonic as a playable character after all. How about you get out of this thread with this much of a shit-for-brains you absolute dimwit.

it's not a sonic game it's smash bros

Stop
His thesis is stupid and you're stupid for arguing with what seems to be an actual autist

You were contradicting yourself earlier, and I pointed it out. Of course it's smash bros, it has SSB gameplay regardless of playable characters. Just as DDP is SMB2: it has SMB2 gameplay regardless of playable characters.

why reply to your own posts?

I'm not replying to my own posts, dim wit

HIRED

THE

They were altering other things as well.
Did you know the Japanese version has any powered up Mario always revert to Small Mario when hit like in SMB and SMW? It was changed in the US version to have a powered up Mario go to Super Mario when hit.

Fucking embarrassing, end yourselves.
