Are you the kind of person who gets mad at video games?
This. The game is literally no fucking fun at all.
It's read about this and also there's a lot of memes, is the monkey really difficult?
not if you use the correct tools
the main issue is that you might not expect to be able to deflect the monkey like a normal enemy but you can

The game starts off fucking great, a coup in a feudal japanese kingdom? Who woulda thunk it! What a cool and interesting concept!
Then once you beat the second boss, the game falls apart and becomes some retarded shit about trying to sever wolfs immortality, the game effectively ends after Genichiro because the main motivating force for Wolf is gone and now theres nothing left to keep you interested or engaged, it's all just a bunch of god awful japanese mythos and dumb shit until the very end.

Once you get the right tools and know what to do it's piss easy, problem is that the right tools are either not available at the time you get them, or their viability isn't immediately obvious. Same with "knowing what to do".
On new game plus he was one of the easiest bosses for me, but first time around it took A LOT of tries, to say the least.

Rehash #5
What is it with this retarded meme. I keep seeing it.
>This autistic forced meme again.
Still, I agree that the plot structure had some issues. What with Genichiro vanishing for 80% of the story and Owl turning out to be alive only to be immediately killed off again.
Because they set up a good story about a Shinobi on a mission to rescue a divine heir, then they fuck it up by adding mystical shit.
I DONT CARE ABOUT GHOSTS
I DONT CARE ABOUT MONKEYS
I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT IMMORTALITY
I JUST WANT TO PLAY A GAME ABOUT STOPPING A COUP
never read a more wrong post
this d e s u
The first 30-40% of the game is wonderful. The game areas are well made. Genichiro as a boss is brilliant, one of the best fights fromsoft has ever made.
The final ~10% of the game is also really good. With the final boss in particular being as good if not even better than genichiro.
Everything in between those two segments however feels like dark souls 1 after getting the lordvessel, especially lost izalith. In other words - weird, wonky, unfinished, unfocused.
Suddenly there are a lot of gimmicky one-trick boss fights. Enemies start to be commonly reused. The level geometry completely falls apart, with misplaced textures, invisible walls and faulty geometry around every corner.
Basically the game is really inconsistent. Around half of it is the best thing fromsoft ever made and half of it is just complete blegh.

>Genichiro is alive despite being gone for 80% of the story and now he has a mortal blade
>Owl is still alive despite nobody knowing who he is because you'd had to have played an optional part in the game, he also has the branch you need for... reasons
>Isshin dies, yet is still alive in Genichiro which is more unexplained mystical shit
What's wrong with mystical shit?
I think the game is about japanese national identity and old values, I believe the dragons are a symbolism about the early chinese and korean influence in the island, what makes the japanese very angry, that's why Mist noble is an in-game joke
>start game
>watch cutscenes, walk in straight line to my objective, press l1 a bunch of times and then r1
>watch more cutscenes
>leave the temple, go talk to the first npc I see
>it's an undead.
all of this is just you being retarded
the mortal blade opens a gate to the underworld, did you seriously miss all the text in the entire game?
the worldbuilding in this game is godawful compared to bloodborne.
Swords clashing
Takes away from what the story is setting up. The entire beginning is about how Feudal Japan was never ending wars with Shinobi's and Samurai's protecting kingdoms from other militaries.
The game literally starts as a disgraced shinobi arises once again to rescue the divine heir during a coup that Genichiro is starting. Then after Genichiro is just dumb mystical shit that takes away from the realism of the story.
You go from
>Hey man stop this military uprising of this kingdom!
to
>Hey man stop immortality by killing ghosts and dragons and entering a divine realm fish a big fish and lightning summoning ninjas where a giant strawman brings you after you fight a big ape who resurrects because he also has a worm in him!
>play game
>get to a boss
>die instantly
>loading screen for 30 seconds
>20 seconds of running back to the boss to skip said cutscene
>repeat steps 2 - 5 for 3+ hours
Why there isn't a "skip cutscene" thing you can do to get straight to the boss I have no fucking idea. It's really atrocious.
The best Fromsoft story. The Sculpter's allusions to the Buddhist concepts of the apocalypse (flames... flames as far as the eye can see) and the vivid Shinto imagery made the world seem more immersive and real than perhaps any other game world.
Also a majestic OST
youtu.be
Nigga you're playing as an immortal ninja with a wooden robot arm trying to save an immortal shota because an immortal niggawatt master wants to use his blood in a dark ritual. Realism is out the fucking window the moment it starts.
Fuck you here's your (you).
>Genichiro is alive despite being gone for 80% of the story and now he has a mortal blade
He's very clearly still alive and going to come back and you know this the second you finish his boss fight. He's a boss character, of course you're going to interact with him during boss fights. They even say he's trying to find the mortal blade iirc.
>Owl is still alive despite nobody knowing who he is because you'd had to have played an optional part in the game, he also has the branch you need for... reasons
It's optional but they direct you to it almost immediately, if you decided to skip it that's on you dude.
>Isshin dies, yet is still alive in Genichiro which is more unexplained mystical shit
Genichiro summons him from the underworld, again, they tell you this shit dude.
>Also a majestic OST
I can get behind all that, but the moment im killing literal ghosts and giant possessed apes to sever immortality by literally killing dragons and fish in a ghost realm, thats where I lose it.
Don't fucking start the game with a realistic setting then go full retard, it's the same shit MGS5 did.
>Hey man stop this military uprising of this kingdom!
Stopping them was never an objective, what are you on about. The rebellion was over when Wolf was a child.
It's not a realistic setting. You have a robot arm, characters are named after animals, the fact that you're an immortal video game character is an actual acknowledged part of the game by other characters. As you walk around you can fight giant roosters and revisit old memories and ghosts who give you plot points. Quit being a dummy, you don't like the setting and that's okay, but pretending it was somehow a realistic setting is dumb.
everything is really genichiro's fault
if he didn't kidnap kuro, wolf wouldn't have had any reason to fuck up so much of ashina's remaining military force
In what period does Sekiro develop? I know it has an important fantastic component, but there has to be some time frame as a developmental point in history.
I like the setting, I don't like the dumb mystical shit. Again, don't set up your story to be dark and brooding but then it goes full retard and is actually a light tale about stopping immortality.
It's like a fucking saturday morning cartoon with this plot.
16th century Sengoku period of Japan.
The Sengoku period? It's in the intro.
>the rebellion was over when Wolf was a child
Then why are Shinobi's respected, yet everyone wants to murder Wolf at any given point?
The setting IS dumb mystical shit. If you run around one of the early bosses you can encounter is an invisible monkey. You practice the controls by fighting a zombie.
>don't set up your story to be dark and brooding but then it goes full retard and is actually a light tale about stopping immortality.
>It's like a fucking saturday morning cartoon with this plot.

user...
You are an inmortal shinobi. What the fuck are you talking about.
I will enjoy my day knowing I never have to touch this game again. I bet you enjoyed Farcry 5's god awful story as well.
That was awfully rude of her
Emma was working for the Interior Ministry all along. Notice how Isshin has his sword out when he died
indicating that she killed him when he was ill and everything Sekiro does weakens Ashina's defences
What the fuck do you even mean to convey with that reaction? God forbid, you're not allowed to ruminate on your genuine feelings on a game on Yea Forums without some autistic replies.
I think you're simply dumb. Ashina, as a country, is in dire straits. Many eavesdropped conversations tell of a coming battle. That the men are low on supplies, that maybe lord Isshin will help out despite his old age, that Genichiro will lead them to victory. Genichiro wants the dragon restoration from Kuro so that he may lead Ashina, who took him in after his parents' slaughtering, to victory. Kuro, seeing the lengths men like Genichiro will go, and knowing the lengths Wolf will go to save him, wants to stop this chasing of immortality.
Then you see at the Senpou temple that the buddhist monks have been killing each other for an unknown amount of time in the quest for immortality. Even going as far as to kill children. Everything thus far is in keeping with this dark, brooding setting of Ashina.
Then the Sunken Valley and the gun fort. Nothing about this is "mystical bullshit." Then the Guardian Ape, who is the most vicious enemy in the game up to this point. What about the ape is mystical bullshit? It's bloodied, bruised, and completely vicious. Then it reveals its headless form, showing the consequences of immortality.
I think you're really, really stupid.
it's set during tokugawa shogunate, im guessing somewhere later part of the period due to the prevalence of rifles
A good fucking game
What I want to know is who the fuck did this?
why did little kids like Wolf so much
you'll find out whose "design" that was...
>Giant ape with a worm inside of it who is controlling it isnt mystical shit
>Monks that are trying to get immortality isn't mystical bullshit
Also you didnt mention the part where you kill the Corrupted Monk and are literally in a fucking ghost valley inhabited by inbreds.
Nor did you talk about after the monks how you enter a dream realm and fight ghost monkeys.
You also didn't mention the divine realm which a literal strawman brings you too, where you kill a giant fish and a fucking lightning dragon with a sword.
The sculptor’s unnamed friend
newfag
Pretty much.
If the idiot had asked nicely he could've had an immortal ninja on his side. He even made sure that his newly rejuvenated-in-his-prime grandfather would be honor-bound to go and get himself killed instead of, you know, telling him to go fuck up the shogunate's forces.
Mind you that Isshin was so fucking badass that he pretty much singlehandedly conquered Ashina. And you, Genichiro, just handed him a superpowered blade. And he's pretty good friends with the aforemented immortal ninja who just decimated your entire army. What the fuck do you even need the dragon's blood for at that point? Just have your dying wish be for him to bro up with Sekiro and go fuck up some invaders.
Was Emma supposed to be in love with Sekiro or was it just platonic?
Because the character has the characteristics of a wolf during the process of domestication working aside the first humans.
Judging from the way she was speaking it was more of a curiosity rather than anything else.
>Notice how Isshin has his sword out when he died
I'm pretty sure that was supposed to imply that he tried to go out and fight but died from the resulting strain.
Either or
you're looking too deep into it. mythos is born from oral tradition. generations of broken telephone. some guy catches a big fish and centuries later he's a hero who killed the great fish god. sekiro just presents a world where mythos and reality are intertwined.
I laughed a lot in that part. The voice performance in English and Japanese is brilliant in delivering the whole speech.
Based Reinhardo
There are a couple weird lines she has but nothing explicit. I think there’s one where she tries to get him to remember that she treated his wounds one time in the past but Sekiro’s autism prevents him from remembering
they're just friends from work
also the person in that pic is the divine child not emma
Why is Tomoe a heretic? Just 'cause she could shoot lightning?
she wouldn't fuck prime isshin so he launched a smear campaign
During the Purification ending path she makes it clear that she cares deeply for both you and the kid. There's nothing explicitly romantic about it though.
Based. The second half was just reskins
>2 apes
>2 Genichiros
>2 owls
>4 fat guys
>4 headless guys
>5 ninja kicking guys
>one Manus reskin thrown in at the end
her sake dialogue about him being a difficult patient is funny too
seems they just respect each other
Based. The supernatural stuff was way overdone. The main focus should’ve been smuggling Kuro out of Ashina.
>shit optimization if you're on PC, worse performance than PC version if you're on console.
It runs flawlessly though...
If a game isn't running well, you're almost certainly a retard, or you have a toaster. There are a few exceptions but they're very few and far between, and Sekiro isn't one of them.
the owl one at least sort of makes sense and has plot importance with the branch
ape is stupid because you can get the mortal blade before the first fight but it just disappears before you can sever it anyway
Not unnamed though faggot.
Probably platonic considering Sekiro was raised as a child soldier and such people have 100% death drive instead of a healthy 50/50.
Old man Isshin was killed by Genichiro with the black mortal blade. Eavesdrop on Emma and him before the Owl fight. Isshin died to Genichiro to weaken him for Wolf.
killing this rude thot of a woman was very enjoyable.
>There are a few exceptions but they're very few and far between
badly optimized games are very common, are you high?
Grimdark edgelordfag, you're in the wrong hobby, go watch a feudal Japan documentary
stop posting this nonsense every thread
just beat him, not a particularily difficult boss
only problem was the MONO CACA until I realized you just have to jump backwards and parry (he didn't use it that much anyway) and the scream forcing me to play defensively.
>What am I in for?
FACE ME SEKIRO
>Manus reskin
End your fucking life dude
when he throws shit it's actually better to run under him for several free hits when he lands
HOW MY BLOOD BOILS
Japanese engineering loves to optimize everything. Fox Engine, for example. They're obsessed with getting the most out of their hardware.
kino samurai game. don't play it like a soulsborne game tho. dodging is only good for grab attacks. try to parry everything, because everything except perilous attacks can be parried.
This is the first time I ever posted this, retard. Isshin tells Emma that wielding the black blade has weakened Genichiro and that when the time comes he’ll face him.
Dark souls but good
The best action game I've played in a while.
Your posture recovers while you are blocking. Your posture can't be broken as long as you keep deflecting. You can deflect out of block.
Jumping and dodge has i-frames, so you can dash through attacks, but the timing is tight. Your best defensive option is deflecting. Use jumping for repositioning, it covers a lot of distance.
Get the mikiri counter asap, it obliterates all thrusts in the game, not just spears. Just press B, no need for directions.
>literally the first thing you get to know about the game is that you're an immortal ninja (it's literally in the name)
>wow why are there so many supernatural things
>Demon of Hatred literally has Manus’ skeleton
>It's literally in the name of the game)
Where? The game is called "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice".
Not once in the game is Wolf a shadow. His name isn't even Sekiro until you meet Isshin, even then it's a nickname he gives you.
shadows die twice is a reference to the fact that you can die twice
I mean shit, it's not literally explained like a wikipedia article in the name, exert just a slightest bit of effort to read between the lines
bro........ epic..... sekiro OWNED.
cling-clang cling-clang cling-clang
You said, "It's literally in the name)". Literally applies that it IS in fact in the name of the game, thus I don't need to read between the lines as that is not what I need to do since it's literal.
the shadow in the title is Owl which is why when you kill him you say death of a shadow
and he dies twice because you kill him again in hirata
it is literally in the name but it's not in the name literally
Reminder that having to fight a boss more then once in one sitting with the same amount of health regens artificially inflates the difficulty because Fromsoft can't make a boss fight hard without some sort of gimmick to extend it. Of course a boss fight is gonna be hard when you throw in a sudden second phase with no warning and because you struggled against the first phase your gonna die in the second phase and have to do it all over again.
Like, thats just a given it doesn't make the game any harder just more tedious.
>ninja game
>barely any stealth
>no smoke bombs
but I skipped hirata and only killed him once. So wouldn't it be "Shadows Die Twice (Unless you skip the optional part then they only die once)"
Stop getting upset at video games.
>sudden second phase
If anything, it's exciting.
shadows die twice refers to isshin, an once warlord and a shadow of his former self, dying twice in any of the non shura ending
did you do NG+?
I played more like a samurai focusing on sword action more than anything else.
It's obvious you've never played any Tenchu game. The Tenchu games also start out grounded and then become more supernatural in the late game, if anything it was likely a nod to that.
>but I skipped Hirata
Did anyone even fight Hirata Owl in their first playthrough (without a guide)? Like the fuck was I supposed to know I needed to eavesdrop?
>barely any stealth
there was quite a lot of stealth if you went in stealthy.
>no smoke bombs
fair, but the blood cloud ninjutsu art pretty much fulfills the same purpose.
I guess when emma hangs around somewhere after resting it means you should eavesdrop
except in this case you had to stand in a specific spot which was unintuitive
>just beat lmao 2ape on my first try
how do people have problems with this boss? just parry lol
gee, I don't know. how about play it?
>ninja game
>Thinking ninjas and shinobis is the same shit
>Being an uncultured swine
>Probably an Amerifat
I hate these fucking threads. Just play the fucking game and THEN make a thread about it.
Cunt.
>Not once in the game is Wolf a shadow
Are you actually considered mentally retarded in your country? He's a shinobi, basically a feudal Japanese James Bond. A spy, an agent, an intelligence gatherer, an assassin. A shadow. The stealth should probably be the giveaway for that. He dies more than once. He's called "Wolf" and loses his arm in like the first 5 minutes of the game, hence Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
I'm not expecting brilliance from this Taiwanese subreddit but you're actually fucking stupid. I feel sorry for you, I can't imagine going through life like you do, everything must seem so complicated and unachievable.
Maybe just end it all. Seems fucking pointless living like that.
The obvious counterpoint to this is that if you git gud, the first phase is actually of benefit to you because it restores resurrective power.
That actually requires some degree of skill however and it's easier to just complain about it.
>Did anyone even fight Hirata Owl in their first playthrough
No. There are 2 endings in this game and two easter eggs nobody is going to get without looking at a wiki, datamining or having actual aspergers.
I kinda like that though, gives it more replayability.
Somebody post a mega of the game
I am too poor to experience this masterpiece
I really want to buy this game, but I only have a fat og xbone. Is it blighttown tier horrible on this system?
isshin should drop his gun for you to use as a prosthetic tool for subsequent playthroughs
loaded gun just sounds right
Sekiro is LITERALLY the hardest video game ever made, good luck user.
No it isn't, faggot.
Hesitation is defeat...
>/pol/: the game
An inferior version of dark souls fetishized by try hards.
This is peak brainlet we're seeing here.
Literally the best PC port Fromsoftware has ever done.
A human cannot physically be a shadow, thus your retarded.
It stops being hard when you figure out how the combat works.
I fucking love that sound effect
Especially parrying Zombie Rape Ape's giant overhead
That deep-ass clang reverberates through my soul
Why did Isshin go to the Underworld? He didn't seem like such a bad guy.
A human can't physically be a Wolf either but that hardly holds him back, thus you fall well below average intelligence on the bell curve and should probably spend less time replying to me and making that abundantly clear, and more time researching painless and expedient suicide methods.
There isn't a heaven/hell equivalent with the Japanese
>game trailer features giant snakes, ogres and demons
>game trailer explicitly shows Sekiro resurrecting after being killed
>first presentation of gameplay is consistent and features a fight with a demonic monk and evading a giant snake
.....
>"i hate the mystical shit"
I don't think I've ever seen this level of retardation on Yea Forums, someone please document this thread for future reference.
Is this game really getting no DLC, feels fucking bad.
omnipotent (resetera leaker who accurately described both Sekiro and Elden Ring before their respective reveals) stated that some fans will be angry as there is no DLC being planned
he could be wrong, but then again his leaks were on point
I know, sucks dick if it is true. Imagine a TOH tier DLC.
THE HARDEST GAME IN WALLMART
Maybe they will make a sequel? Sekiro seems to be doing pretty well as far as the sales go.
Hopefully.
Pretty fun combat with a steeper than average challenge.
Overall a very solid game. 8/10
I think shinobis were more of a proto special forces. It's the only way to justify Owl: The Absolute Unit.
Sekiro has actually really good boss runs compared to most dark souls bosses.
The true ending was huge sequel bait
Now that I remember, Sekiro is an IP that was born as a fork of an unnamed Tenchu project. It makes sense.
Dumb toasterfag
Adventures of wolf and blind loli is absolute sequel bait and if they don't deliver they can fuck right off.
Look at Owl's right arm. When you see it you'll be very confused.
I still hope that somewhere in the company some team is designing a DLC.
