I seem to have developed it for my mouse hand, it was fine for over a decade of mx518/g400s mice and a year of g502 seems to have absolutely destroyed it. I swapped back to the new mx518 2 months ago but it doesn't help.
I stretch my wrist every hour or so too but that don't do shit either
Are there some good wrist pads or something for this? Should I invest in a lower profile mouse because having my arm flat on a desk seems to alleviate the pain?
I wear wristbands 30 now and no cts here dunno if those help or not but I notice I don't put pressure on that part of my wrist/hand when I wear them
Adam Morgan
dont have shit genetics? I'm on PC all day and have been for years, never had wrist problems. Could also be you're overweight, stop eating if that's the case.
Andrew Wright
>I'm on PC all day and have been for years, never had wrist problems. yeah, that was me from 10 years old to 29 >overweight no
Charles Rodriguez
In that case, you'll eventually get it too, dumbass.

serious things you can do here
-Ergonomic mouse -wrist splints (for sleeping and playing, but not wearing all the time) -stretching and massaging your hand and forearm (looses up the muscles attached to your tendons that create swelling) -ibuprofen and icing -less carbohydrates and sugar
Sebastian Gray
guess I'll get an ergonomic mouse for general browsing, fucking things seem expensive though
any specific model?

are you sure you don't have high blood sugar? I had it and got neuropathic pain in 3 fingers and from time to time it feels like allot of needles are stinging my fingers if I type, use the mouse or controllers. But I got over it by being high on pregabalin and tapentadol along with codeine.
Jackson Bennett
didnt help, now I have carpal tunnel and chlamydia
You sure it's carpal tunnel? If it's just pain, or pain during use, you could have tendonitis instead. Might be thoracic outlet syndrome too. Could be a muscle imbalance too. That's a bit less serious.
If it's carpal tunnel, there's a surgery to address the crowding on the median nerve. There is a small loss to flexibility (not significant at even a competitive level). Anything else, you're looking at physical therapy.
The main thing is, take the pain VERY SERIOUSLY. If you're American, you're probably fucked economically because diagnosing carpal tunnel is more expensive than it should be. You won't qualify for surgery without an EMG/Nerve Conduction Study. Unless you're on Medicare/Medicaid expect the hospital to inflate the test procedure, because you have no legal protections against their billing decisions. The EMG will cost you $4,000 to $5,000 without insurance; the surgery probably a little more than that. (Yes, it's crazy I know.) A round of physical therapy with a certified hand therapist will be about $2,000 (you have more control about cost here though; and you don't necessarily need a CHT, just question the physical therapist closely to evaluate their competence). With insurance, you're probably looking at about $6,000 all said. Forget workman's comp, 99% chance they'll tell you to fuck off. Some doctor's don't even take workman's comp patients btw.
If you're American and have the flexibility, consider medical tourism.

The only way to beat it is rest. I learned that the hard way. Find different things to do. Play some vidya on a gamepad.

It's true though, the ONLY WAY to be fat is to have a bad diet, and a bad diet lead to all these kind of bullshit chronic pains through inflammation.
Charles Ross
>stop being fat I'm 180cm / 75kg >stop drinking I drink twice a month >and smoking I don't >stretch once a day once every hour >stop playing so much lame fps pretty sure my wrist pain is the cause of playing RTS and diablo >play some slower and intellectual games from time to time, idiot. civ2 is my favourite game of all time

You're probably doomed to suffer because of your parents' shit genes. At 30 years and over 12 years of constant PC gaming I deal with nothing more than stiff fingers after waking up. I sympathize with you though, my mother has arthritis and I know hand problems would be awful.
Samuel Hughes
You have time, I developed it after a good 19 years of PC gayman
Christopher Gomez
>hurr durr I'll never have any problems whatsoever praise muh genes >t. 22 year old thinking he's been at the computer a lot Advice from the +28-club, it'll happen to you eventually, prepare accordingly.
Adam Evans
It's impossible to have carpal if you're this healthy. 75Kg sounds a bit too much though unless you're all muscle. You can likely reduce it further through a better diet which will reduce inflamation overall >once every hour Sounds a bit overkill >RTS and diablo Lame garbage, anyway stop that shit, pick up a controller sometimes. I don't think you have carpal, you probably just have a bad posture and playing the same kind of intensive clicking games the entire day, anyone's hands will star to suffer, repetition is a bitch, which is why I think you just stop using a mouse so much.
Joshua Cox
I got pretty used to using a thumb-trackball, even with fps gaymen. just needed my wrist elevated a little bit while using a m570. finger-based trackballs work better for regular desktop stuff though, like kensingtons or trackman marble.
using a controller might be shitty but games nowadays are just console ports so they have controllers in mind for play. xbox ones are more comfortable in my use. it's just about delaying it now for me... been kb/m since quake. i'll probably need a splint soon
Evan Edwards
I feel pain where the red line is, any idea of what it could be? I'm on the computer pretty much all day due to work

60+ APM games just aren't healthy. The human hand isn't meant to take that much. That's all there is to it.
Joseph Hall
OP here, I ordered and ergonomic mouse for general shitposting and a wrist splint to use at work I guess (not computer related work but I use joysticks that can get monotonous and awkward)
I do gamer stretches that this fine black man suggested
I have always griped my mouse with my entire palm so the carpal tunnel isnt pressing and I've never noticed but on the other hand my ass has hemoroids from sitting for too long.
Personally I wouldn't do those finger stretches which have him pull back the fingers, I would only do them when I'm finished at the computer and going to go do something else. I don't know what to suggest to do instead, I'd probably suggest you just do general dynamic stretches like arm circles and any others you can find for hands and wrists. Just get your body moving and warmed up.
Take breaks, use better posture, vary your input methods (AKA Use controllers and KB+M both) to vary your strain points between sessions. Though this is less "beat" and more "Prevent and Alleviate".
Zachary Smith

You really can't say all this without knowing where OP's CT is located. Nerve damage can happen anywhere in the hand when holding a mouse or controller and not everyone's nerves are in the exact same place. We don't even know if he's using any kind of padded mouse pad or even how his arm rest when holding a mouse. OP's best option is to just follow the endless youtube exercises on carpal tunnel. But you fuckers got buying a fucking mouse for shit we don't even know about him.

Do you use a trackpad? Frequent use of mouse wheel? Likely tendonitis as others said. You can have tendonitis in your hand, but hand pain can also be caused by more proximal tendonitis--eg, tennis elbow. If it's that, elbow strap for several weeks, rest the hand and arm, ibuprofen two weeks, naproxen next two weeks, and you can ice the arm. Do Nershal (sp?) exercises during this time until comfortable fatigue.
You might also have a muscular imbalance if gripping/using a mouse triggers the pain. Your extensor muscles (top of hand) are in fact used even when you're flexing (bottom of hand). Since everyone is 10/10 at flexing, you end up being a 1/10 at extending and the top of the limb can exhibit these fatigue/pain symptons. There are exercises specifically for opening the hand and spreading the fingers to address this issue. (Most of the hand exercise tools you're familiar with are exclusively for grip strength. But we're not looking to grip harder, but rather to stabilize and extend the fingers.)
Nathan Brooks
32 here, your genes are shit mate.
Josiah Edwards
good thing you'll never encounter any ills related to aging ever with your superior genes
It sounds silly but this has helped like nothing else. I wore the tape and replaced it when it started to loosen up for about two weeks and the pain has reduced so much that I'm in awe. I have to put it back on because some of it is coming back (mostly because I type a lot for my job, I haven't worn it for like a week and I even didn't use my night brace). It's seriously crazy how effective the tape is. A downside is you will need someone to help you put it on, it takes like 15 minutes of cutting and applying but it is so worth it for relief.
I got the pro tape and imo it's better than the regular but also decently more expensive. I might try a different brand to get it to last longer, showers really wear down the adhesive. Good luck.

you dont. you got it because it's horrible for your hands to keep doing small repetitive movements like that so it's only going to make it worse. everything people tell you is to lessen the damage that is already done for you.

How do you prevent finger pain from clicking so much? It's inevitable in some games to click really quickly and accurately. Index finger in specific. It can put a damper in your game when you get it.
Cameron Smith
I dont have any pain on my fingers and I can use my hand just fine. But my arm and shoulders are tingly and feel numb recently after I sprain my wirst like a week ago. is that Carpal Tunnel?
Nathaniel Barnes
there is one thing worse than it, and it is being a cyclist since young age and have a bulky and meaty dorsal interosseus muscle and adductor pollicis that will not allow you to hold anything that weights above a kg (sometimes not even a mere card-box) within your index and thumb fingers.
Outside that my left hand after I blew up a ganglion cyst with a book after a month tampering it with a needle and obtaining no results, it seems to be a tad achy mostly because the needle sometimes went through the tendon
