>Howard has commented that he intends to avoid inclusion of mindless filler in any of Bethesda's games, especially Oblivion, something that he admits has happened in the past - saying that despite the fact each game is the previous one's sequel, total reinvention is the prerogative.

Howard is a moron that thinks removing features from past games makes his new games somehow better.

Despite the fact that people enjoy them for their "mindless filler"

Why do phone fags screenshot images instead of just saving the fucking image

>mfw Daggerfall had jumping, swimming, climbing skills plus languages

fuck you phoneposter

Howard returned as a keynote speaker at the 2012 D.I.C.E. Summit. He said developers should ignore demographics and installed base, and follow their passions, saying that "if install base really mattered, we'd all make board games, because there are a lot of tables".

>and follow their passions
God I hate this pretentious bullshit. As if anyone of Bethesda's 90 employees follow their passion. And fuck me if Todd does, because then his passions are a piece of crap. Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are lacking in so many places there is no way anyone of their devs were passionate about what they did

>Elder Scrolls 6 schools of magic:hurt and heal

Todd followed his passion, turns out its making money.

A third of Daggerfalls skills are useless.
If you like quantity over quality then I hope they add shoe tying as a major skill in the next game.
That is about as useful as the languages from Daggerfall.

You are no longer the target audience. The target audience prefers mechanics simpler than you would prefer.

>leveling up unlocks a minigame where you rapidly tap A to add bonus hitpoints to your health bar

Well you still have the drooling retarded " But daggerfall had more skills so was better because more is betterer"
That and old timers were far more forgiving of shitty gameplay than the current audience.

daggerfall unite is free and open source and can be modded into ANYTHING you want given enough time and dedication

>Despite the fact that people enjoy them for their "mindless filler"
Morrowind and Oblivion didn't have that much mindless filler. Arena and Daggerfall were 75% filler, Skyrim and especially Fallout 4 are bloated with shitty randomly generated content.

Todd easily passes for 6’3 and JACKED in that photo going by his proportions

>Howard has commented that he intends to avoid inclusion of mindless filler in any of Bethesda's games
bethesda will stop making games?

>developers should follow their passions
boy, must he be a cadaver in bed.

He looks old as fuck and he's supposed to be like 18 there.

Bump.

I agree, but you'll never convince people of this. They'll continue to idealize what systems existed in the past, regardless of whethef they are conducive to a better overall experience. The essence of the complaint holds merit, though, in that it is true that many role playing series have favored simpler mechanics, and thus a lower barrier to entry to reach a wider market. People who complain about Bethesda casualizing their games should just move on to developers that more specifically cater to their tastes.

what a chad

I agree with the other user, he's passionate, about money.

Is todd the western masuda?

They better hurry.
Those devs go out of business or get bought out for pennies on the dollar at an alarming rate.

Todd invented mouse look.
Todd made open world genre into a juggernaut.

Is there a more consequential dev than Todd Howard?

>Morrowind and Oblivion didn't have that much mindless filler
All TES games have lots of mindless filler in the form of colon dungeons where you have to click all enemies to death. Oblivion was especially guilty of this. Skyrim is like the only one where the dungeon crawling is bearable, because the dungeons are beautiful and well detailed (except the draugr ruins).
