I'm not hacking my Switch because I know myself too well. If I hack it, I'll download a million games, and then never play them because I can't decide which one to play. If I'm paying for my games I have a reason to actually play them. Plus saving up for new games gives me a goal, and something more to look forward to, and I kind of need that.
That's just a way to justify your spending, but look at it this way, if you're not playing them even when you don't have to pay for them, are they worth playing at all?

It's basically a virtual image of your switch. You can have all your hacking shenanigans on the emulated nand and when you switch to your real switch nand it's clean and fresh and nothing is affected so you won't get banned. You can alternate back and forth to play your legit games online and your hacked games.

Just stay offline with your EmuNAND system, think flight mode ON all the time so it won't connect to any Wifi or have a internet connection in general and you are safe.
You boot through RCM you are in EmuNAND, you boot normally you are on your online Sysnand. Easy peazy.
When you want to switch between online and offline you will have to reboot, but not for every game retard.

Is it easy? Yes. You hit a button and walk away from your switch for an hour.
That thing you found is a paid custom firmware. It's what I use. But there's free alternatives. Main one is Atmosphere OS. Go to "GBATEMP" site and there will be plenty of guides how to hack your switch using atmosphere.
Is it a homebrew? Yes. Emunand tool will basically format your SD card and write a 32gb (the size of the switch HDD) partition that you can do all your hacks in.
Once you get all the tools you need to hack your switch (a Microsd, a OTG usb cable and a pc or android phone to boot the exploit and you'll need a little 3D printed jig off eBay or something for like 3 bucks) and find a updated guide the whole thing will take an hour or two.

I use TXOS myself. It's pretty good. You have two specific benefits over the free versions in that you can have drag and drop ROMs. You don't need to install the games. So that's quite convenient.
Also you can plug a external USB hardrive into your dock and load all your games from there too. Which is fucking awesome. I have over a terabyte of games at the minute. Free versions don't have this yet but will eventually get it.
One big downside of TX OS is you can't access "system modules" which means you can't access fun overclocking stuff to boost performance in games. That kinda sucks. With system modules you can also enable the syncing of Xbox controllers without any extra hardware
So the paid and free firmwares both have their plus and negatives right now. But as far as I'm aware you can actually boot both. You can mix and match.
It's pretty idiot proof if you can find a good up to date guide. Check GBATEMP for info.
A super short summary of the hacking process is as such
>Slap some firmware files onto a SD card
>Attach a jig into the right joycon rail
>Attach your switch to a pc
>Install a driver on pc and boot switch into RCM recovery mode
>Send a payload exploit file to your switch
>Switch boots into firmware
And from their you can install emunand partitions and whatever else you want. It's pretty simple.
Just follow the guide then, it's very easy.

Have you got a OTG usb cable? And a android phone? A phones so so much more convenient for sending the payload. Cus you'll experience crashes in homebrew and shit sometimes and having to lug your shit over and turn your pc on every time is a hassle (for me anyway) so it's so much handier to just slap my switch into my phone to boot everything again
