what was the best game you ever played? when was it? how long ago was it? how long did it take you to realize it was the best game you ever played?
for me, it was lost planet 2. I owned it for a year or so and beat it a few times, and thought it was really cool, but me and my friends suddenly wanted to play it after watching something, and then we just kept playing it over and over for years
if we're talking about favorites, mine is probably star ocean 2 I played it when I was like 8 years old and didn't really know east from west and went to the super mid-disc mountains rather than the easy cave I was supposed to and died, and I never saved for the next few years I'd try to pick it up but kept dying in the mines at the beginning as rena until I finally got good and stopped dying

fortnite. i play it all the time when im bored
Thomas Cook
Maybe Ace Combat 4 but that could be the nostalgia speaking since I played it for the first time when I was like 8. I never get tired of it.
Lincoln Cook
I've been trying to iron of my favorites for years but it's hard to compare sometimes. Most time spent: Easily DotA through Dota 2, with 12k hours in the latter. Most enjoyment: Zelda, Command & Conquer Time AND enjoyment: Super Smash Bros. Melee
Either the game has a compelling story/setting/atmosphere or it's fun to play over and over. Honorable mentions: Stronghold, Worms, Path of Exile, Warcraft III custom maps, Heroes 1-3, bunch of classic PS1 titles, and many more.
Henry Flores
I realize I don't have a game where it's "the best thing ever". It depends on the mood if I ever want to play SotN, Dark Souls or MMX4. I never considered the best thing ever though, just games I had fun the most during my younger years. I guess I enjoy Bloodstained more nowadays then any other game these past few years
Nathaniel Rivera
I wouldn't really associate time played with enjoyed I played at least a thousand hours of war thunder, ~500 hours of fallout 4 and skyrim each, and ~400 hours of fallout 3 and I wouldn't necessarily say they're my favorite
The World Ends With You It is the best game ever made. By a mile. Every bit of it is flawless. It's a game that is so perfectly fit for it's hardware the Switch and mobile ports fucking suck, cause it just doesn't translate away from a dual screen, stylus on a resistive touch screen format. It should have got a sequel on the 3ds. Even the Wii U would've been great.
The Wonderful 101, when the day after I beat it I went back and played more. The game succeeds at everything it tries to do and is great in every other aspect.

Guild Wars (2005). I properly played and appreciated it when it was out from release up until GW2 came out, but I always felt like I didn't much care for the game outside of speedclearing and making mad dosh. Thought the rest of the game was pretty trash outside the player-made metas. I didn't realize it was my favorite game until 2016 now only playing it by myself and repeatedly bang out Guardian/EotN/Vanquisher titles just for the fun of it.
This is from not so long ago, doing a section of the elite dungeon Slaver's Exile with heroes in a pretty slick time. Something like this used to scare me back in the day when I relied on player metas so much.
I rented sonic adventure 2 from block buster and my mind was fucking blown I poured so much of my child hood into that one game, and I even have 300 hours from the past 4 years on the steam version I have 2k hours on tf2, but alot of those hours are from being afk just sitting in the menu while Im doing something else

Fucking this. You 4channers are a bunch of sickos.
I probably would have said this a few years ago, but I'm really burnt out on this style of game now. new/old favorite is probably banjo kazooie or mario sunshine since platformers are my favorite genre and we just don't get good ones anymore
I want to go back to early online games I want to play outbreak on ps2 once more

Maybe Dragon's Dogma, I'm not fond of everything about this game but the griffin fight and chase was the very definition of Kino. Or WoW, up to early WotLK, game I crammed the most hours into. Dark Souls and Bloodborne are up there aswell.
Super mario RPG. Maybe not the best mechanically but it's the best I ever played. About 15 years ago now, when I was 10. Maybe blind nostalgia but everything from the music to the variety of commands for timed hit attacks, to the pretty diverse cast of characters to even the changeup to the obvious bowser kidnapped peach story. It's just so good. And paper mario reneges on a lot of it. It's good in it's own right, and better in many more ways, but it's still just a lesser game to me.
Isaac Peterson
I knew it when I started. I just couldn't stop playing it. I played it on every difficulty, from very easy to ace. Went out of my way complete every objective and unlock everything. I still play it once a year. The other ACs are good damn games but 04 is on another level. The chills never go away.
man, I remember starting AC4 for the first time it was 2016 or so and I was disappointed with how bloodrayne 2 was turning out so I took AC4 for a spin and got addicted, then burnt through 5 and 0 immediately after what a fantastic game
Thomas Carter
I played it in 2006, it's the only super nintendo game I've gotten in the past like, 20 years and it's probably the best one I own
I wish there were good Ben 10 games. This franchise is fucking packed with vidya potential and only one of their games wasn't a glitchy mess with retarded level design and horrible programming
I had a weird issue where the launcher would just close down when I pressed "play". I tried it last year, maybe I'll give it another go sometime. Maybe it's just Windows 10 fuckery?
>ppg characters with normal proportions feels wrong senpai
Luke Campbell
>Have literal harem of hot Human and Alien Waifus >Had an episode Nearing Tenchi Muyo bullshit except with a four armed red amazon and a Frog Girl >Reality warping game show host had a contest with all of them to see who gets to marry him (Even had blood relatives in the crowd of females before Ben said something about it) >Choose worst girl that has no chemistry with him >Relationship so forced their future son had to go back in time to make sure they get together, which also assures his own existence Ben truly is THE western shounen protagonist
DS was a blessing after the garbage that the 7th generation kept putting out. Seriously, those were dark times for Western and Japanese studios.
Oliver Wright
>Choose worst girl Who was it again?

Team Fortress 2 Around 2014 Ever since that game was released I fell in love with the artstyle and characters, but since I couldn't play it (no Xbox and no decent PC) I had to wait years and years until I finally had a laptop that could run it, and when I was finally able to play, I wasn't disappointed. Almost 2000 hours of laughs, good times and making friends, and tho I don't play as much as I used to, it holds a special place in my heart.
God Hand, RE4, or Ace Combat 04 >God Hand First played it around 2009 when I saw part of a walkthrough and decided it looked like fun for all its jank. Now it's one of those games I can pop in and play for hours at any time. It only took me that first playthrough to realize it was something special.
>Ace Combat 04 I played this bitch back in like 2004 for the first time. I don't get to play it as often as God Hand, but every time I do, it's practically as wonderful as it was the first time. AC is my favorite series and it has some stellar titles, but there's something damn special about 04. The soundtrack, the chatter, the side story about the kid and the Yellows. It's still incredible today.
The indian chick from when he got the Werewolf alien. Only reason they kept this in is because the Ben 10,000 episode in the original series had Ben's son have tanned skin to signal that he smashed native puss. It honestly sucks because that was so long ago and so many better girls have been introduced since then, but they were forced to stick with some indian chick he met when he was 10 for continuity instead of saying "fuck it"
Kai, she doesn't have much characterization outside of >Slut for Ben's Assortment of Alien Cock, more specifically Blitzwulfer's Knot >Tsundere to Human Ben >Treasure Hunter It doesn't help that Ben isn't a limp dick anime boy that let's people walk over him, So he snaps back and forth with her which is more like bickering than actual chemistry Should have come back earlier in the Omniverse run since the only time we saw her before that was the original series, one actual episode and one dream sequence
It's hard to describe without sounding like a fangirl. The ridiculous made-up nation plots, superweapons, and dramatic characters just go really well with the solid arcade gameplay.
First game to use clouds as an actual gameplay mechanic. Don't get why the guy was snorting them, though.
>The briefing synced up with the music. Man, that's the best.
Andrew Hill
ace combat had great gameplay so 7 turned up the cloud graphics unless you mean the last two, those were indie projects that popped up since more AC was traditionally seen as never ever until 7 popped up
Anthony Gonzalez
Yeah, I was wondering why he was snorting them nvm I guess
Nathan Barnes
He's Yuri Lowenthal Bitches love Yuri Lowenthal

He also ditched an asian, a robot and a "don't put your dick in crazy" slime girl too. Also that one with white eyebrows can stretch her limbs if you're into that. Ben has absolute shit taste
I mean, Ace Combat 4 is still very good, but I consider it to be strictly worse than both 5 and 0. Why is it your favorites?
Michael Morgan
Ben x alien quest update when
Leo Reed
>Kitty girl sitting on muscle amazon's massive chest >The size difference between kitty girl's and frog girl's legs These animators fucking know what they're doing
>Because it's better than 5 and 0. I honestly can't imagine someone thinking that. 4's missions are so generic (it feels like half of them just drop you in a big open area to accrue points) and the story is completely barebones. It feels in every way like a testbed game while the team was still getting used to developing for PS2. Even the cutscenes are just still images that pan around.
5 and 0 improve in every area: the missions have way more variety and unique goals, the stories are more involved and have characters you actually grow attached to, and the cutscenes are fully animated and have tons of hype moments.
What you see as improvement, some might seem as not so much. That mission "variety" turns out to be a lot of gimmick chaff that not everyone liked. Some people thought that a few of those characters were annoying. Don't even get me started on the wingman system.
Ryder Jenkins
Lol what a piss poor edit.

David Cox
Chrono Trigger around 2006, I was in high school and had a shitty computer that couldn't play anything but emulated games and starcraft/diablo or older games. I still try to play through CT once a year. It's not the best game ever made but it's my favorite, Dark Souls Bloodborne and Dragon Quest 5 are up there too though.
To be fair, if you met someone that could turn into your personal sexual ideal, you'd prefer if they stayed that way because muh pp hard. Even a girl that loves Ben for Ben wouldn't pass up the opportunity to try out most of those 10,000 varieties of alien cock.
Christian Reyes
Hotline Miami 1/2 (played back to back and they're both fairly short with a lot of crossover so I count them together) about a year ago. I realized basically as soon as the credits started to roll. I know >le story is mOrE iMpOrTaNt than gameplay is kind of a meme... but the ending of HM2 really impressed me with the nuke as the final blow in all the fighting. I found the closing dialogues really cathartic.
It all felt very well thought-out and crafted, from the first to the last moment. I really hated the menu theme when I first launched the game because it was so boring, but after you return to the main menu after completing the game, it really captures the "void" feeling the ending leaves you with.
You know, I just now realized: wasn't Megas XLR cancelled by the time Fusionfall came out? Were the devs just based and added Coop & Megas to the game anyway?

She's in the game don't worry. There are more characters
Buttercup in disguise and the alien chickens from Courage's Pilot episode
Matthew Sanders
The chicken is from Courage; they were aliens that showed up a few times. The goth is Buttercup after being corrupted by some evil force or an evil clone or something; I forget the specifics of the plot.
Great taste. TWEWY is one of my favorite games of all time.

>No Ben 10 Vidya that comes close to emulating the kino moments in the show. >All tie-in media is nowadays are just crappy phone apps and low effort unity games >All the previous series are now labeled as Ben 10 (Classic) and has shifted focus to the reboot which means there's extremely little chance that Ben 10 will get anything substantial
Pey's Big Adventure. It's been so long that I don't remember the year or even the console I played it on, but I realized it was my favorite game in a matter of minutes. Something about the game was just so enamoring. My memories of it are hazy, and I've been able to find fuck all about it on the internet, which is a shame because I'd really like to play it again. I think about fondly every once and a while. The way the characters remembered things about me was a feature I thought was really cool. Not sure how they pulled that off.
Camden Garcia
Well Yea Forums, what would be your Ideal Ben 10 game?
Obsidian Conflict was a co-op half-life 2 mod. Kinda like Svencoop or Synergy. One of the maps people enjoyed was a farming one, and another was a fishing one. I always did the fishing one more, but basically you would fish up stuff and sometimes it'd be weapons, sometimes enemies, sometimes NPCs... I dunno why but it was a lot of fun.
>hey there delilah oh god I'm being taken back to 2007 and I don't like it
Christian Jackson
>Original Ben so he's not too powerful and also easier way to select the smaller number of transformation >original non-canon story >3D Open World beat em up (Think of Spiderman 2) >You unlock alien forms and powers along the game >All of the aliens from the OG series and Feedback(Except Way Big) >Each transformation has their unique set of combos >Dr. Animo, The Forever Knights, Hex, Charmcaster, Clancy, Sixsix, Malware and Vilgax are all bosses >Final boss originates from the game >Gwen 10 is an unlockable skin
I like this Idea but make it hub world based to show the Roadtrip aspect similar to the Tony Hawk games and allow for more level variety As for costumes and modes I'd prefer Kevin to just be Mutated Kevin and have a different playstyle than trying to make him a skin

Dark Souls. Have thousands of hours in it on multiple platforms. It was so fun cracking open a bear and invading/summoning.
Ace Combat's appeal, at least to me is the fact you usually start off as a rookie noob. As missions progress you start doing literal impossible feats and before long you gain a nickname (Jesus Christ, Demon Lord of The Round Table, ect) Everyone is literally SHITTING the bed because you're a almighty force destroying everything in your path while some melodrama orchestra music is playing in the background. Try it if you like power trips. Pic related.
There's even rumors that Wendy from Gravity Falls is based on her. It's like half of the major animators of the past decade or so want to fuck Craig's wife, especially Craig.
Hunter Wood
>Vicky and Frankie are both based on her Jesus, does she have anger problems or something?
After all these years, Xenogears is still the one game that impacted me the most in a way that no other game did. Even as a kid I was able to understand how much thought was put into the story, characters, and everything else. Sadly I will never see the version of it that the writers had originally planned but its still amazing.
Ian Reed
Wendy from Gravity Falls was also inspired by her, the creator even self inserted as the protagonist who had a crush on her. Lauren is prime fiery redhead.
Colton Harris
It's not a rumor, Alex admitted that he had a crush on her way back in the day.
