What's the best way to experience these games? Are the PC versions good or should I just emulate on a DS emulator?

Hack a 3DS
Go to Japan and become a criminal
This. You can LARP the Yakuza series and then AA.
Just buy a DS, they're like $20 nowadays
Just play the version that's the most convenient to you. The PC version is fine.
ds emulator. artwork on the pc version is butt ugly
DS or 3DS for best UI
pc is best because you dont have to play the shitty apollo games
you could also just, you know? not play them
plus ds has investigations 2
Probably on PC or actual console. Playing without music on the emulator takes away from the experience
3ds remastered edition objectively best version
Watch a youtube video that has both ds screens. If you follow the story you should get the puzzles at the same time as the player. It's almost exactly like playing the games.
it's ugly. the sprites look way better. and i'm not even memeing with the soul vs soulless shit, they legit just look better.
Depends. I like the pixelated aesthetic of the DS games. Steam and DS versions are the same games regardless so whatever floats your boat.
I prefer the DS versions, I don't like the "HD" sprites.
>Playing without music on the emulator
Wut? The music works fine.
Which sprites? The 3DS sprites? DS? GBA?
DS emulator is probably the best, if you don't have a DS or 3DS yourself you can put it on your phone, too. Drastic works well for this series.
gba sprites are the same as ds ones up until aa4. And yeah, the sprites from the original games are better looking than the phone/pc ports because they just slapped the original artwork that was made with the intention of being turned into sprites on it so they look ugly
I'm a huge AA fan, I love the original trilogy, I played the Edgeworth spinoff games which were pretty good. Without spoilers, can someone tell me if the 3D AA games are worth playing at all? I felt kinda burnt out on the formula sorta after the Edgeworth games, but the original 3 still really stood out to me.
Depends.
I find it hard to get immersed with DS emulation and found it easier to get immersed with the pc version.
However, the HD art takes a bit to get used to and doesn't look as nice as the sprites, but I personally got over it fairly quick.
DS is the definitive version.
Generally seen as not as good but I enjoyed 5 and especially 6. 4 not really, but the first case and middle of the last case are good.
6-2 is one of the best cases full stop
5 is completely mediocre and boring. The best case is DLC, you can't examine stuff freely... Though Apollo does get a personality and the prosecutor is pretty cool, so there's that.
6 is better, it's much more interesting, has some legit nice twists but the prosecutor is shit. And the filler cases are better than the main story ones honestly.
Also, be ready for tons of nostalgia pandering. They repeat and call back to tons of shit. Some might be a nice reference, but for the most part it just feels like they're out of ideas.
Thanks for the response guys. I kinda felt that they had run out of ideas by that point so I sort of lost interest. I had a lot of fun playing Umineko though. I think for now I'll take a detective story break until something good interests me.
Dunno how you managed to sit through the Edgeworth games. For me the formula got really stale after Apollo Justice and I dropped the series during the first Investigations game. I'd imagine the 3D games are just the same thing all over again. However, the common complaint seems to be that there's even less characters than in older entries, so it's incredibly obvious who's the culprit. You have like victim, suspect A, suspect B.
Have you tried Ghost Trick? It's pretty good and very old school AA-like
First one is ok, ending drags like nothing else.
Second is probably the best AA game or at least contesting the spot.
The entire series is worth playing if you like them, but if you got burnt out you might wanna wait a bit.
I hadn't played in years by that point when I got around to it, so I was interested more in it. You are right tho, by edgeworth games the formula sort of became predictable.
Yeah I actually have, great suggestion, thanks. Really awesome game. Wish there was more around like it.
I've only ever played them on wii
5 is too easy because of handholding, but somewhat enjoyable. The DLC is really great though, be sure to play it.
6 is pretty good, a step below the originals, but at least it doesn't have Mia channeling your ass out of the frying pan. The DLCs are crap though.
Warning: these ratings are coming from me, who thinks AAI2 is the best game in the series.
I sold my 3DS because I'm a retard, where the fuck can I find a translated DGS download for Citra? The links in archives when the translation first came out are dead.
DS.
all other versions have missing animations.
Probably 3dsiso, think that's where I got it
I've been playing through the Switch version and it's fucking great. My only complaint is you can't save in the middle of a chapter; they should have added the ability to save at any time.
We need AAI3 with Miles having to deal with a villain that tiptoes around shitty laws to do immoral/unethical stuff.
have you tried pressing +? you used to save with START on the DS, so try that I guess?
I played every AA game on pc
I'm gonna cry is that works. I've had to re-play long sections which sucks.
What? All the other games have saving at any time, I'd be surprised if the Switch doesn't.
FML :(
I assumed I could only save when prompted.
Emulate them on your phone, they are perfect for it.
I've been playing them on a note 8, perfect ds emulation.
You can save at any time for switch I’ve done it many times
Play DGS at least, it feels fresh and new compared to the mainline games.
DS emulator on your phone.
Need a Mia Fey prequel to actually give her some personality and chronicle her large amount of partners
it's not hot if it involves sex
Holy shit this is exactly where I dropped the game 4 years ago.
I'm currently replaying it though.
Franziska is the sexiest Ace Attorney girl. Prove me wrong please
>What's the best way to experience these games
>"dude don't play them at all lol"
Fucking nu-Yea Forums.
Is it true the HD remaster has fewer frames of animation than the original?
In fucking Japanese you EOP
Now do your reps and get good so you can enjoy this the correct way.
Maya channeling specific parts of Mia.
I'd be fine if they ended it after the first Trilogy. Edgeworth spin-offs are fine though. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the new cast. They tried to SF3 it but then ended up Third Striking it and bringing back most of the old characters people liked more.
Maya and Nick will never bang anyway so what's the point of continuing.
>they actually redrew Phoenix's sprite for the flashback case in AJ HD, all frames intact
>all the other character animations are just as smooth as the originals too
>couldn't be assed to do the same for the Trilogy, despite releasing it for the umpteenth time
How in the world did they think Trilogy HD looked good and then put so much care into one of the least liked games in the series?
The first 3 are fantastic.
Edgeworth games are alright but I stopped playing the first one because the ending went on for way too long. I hear the second one is great though.
5 was alright but more of the same. Still need to play 6
The only thing I disliked about his sprite in AJ HD is that he looked like a midget compared to the other sprites.
Do the remakes still make you do the shitty DS mic blowing for evidence in DS cases?
>to actually give her some personality
What? She has a ton. You constantly talk to her during the trilogy, too.
Is there a tier list of the AA games?
Based
I have no idea if things got changed since I never got interested in replaying these but I played the DS and 3DS versions of the respective games and I remember the 2d sprites looking much better than whatever they did in the trilogy ports I saw afterwards. So I'd say play the originals and not the shitty remakes or whatever.
Also anyone saying to skip a game is a fucking retard.
>You will never take your favorite AA girl to a Café o' Lay.
Feels bad
>Also anyone saying to skip a game is a fucking retard.
Amen
