this is Cataclysm right? Real fun game. My favorite run was as a beefed up martial artist who gradually converted a pickup truck into a mobile death fortress.

I got lucky, spawned right next to National Gaurd base near a small town. The bots pretty much cleaned up most of the town but it made moving through nearly impossible. The first day was non stop explosions and gunfire.
Funny enough, he introduced me to the game.
