Worth getting in 2019? Has it been hacked to pirate games?
PS VITA
yes
yes
Pro: you can play all the vita games for free
Con: there aren't any vita games to play, free or not
Sweet. I have a 3DS collecting dust. Wish I could just exchange it for a Vita.
Question: Is the OLED model really better than the later iterations?
theres a small tweak you can make on the 2k models that makes the difference between 1k and 2k non existent. either model is good at this point
>Worth getting in 2019?
Absolutely, especially if you missed out on getting a PSP
>Has it been hacked to pirate games?
Years ago, and most of the kinks have been ironed out now
If you don't own a PSP, yes absolutely. If you do, well, there had better be some Vita-specific games you want to play.
Op in 2019, is he smart enough to do a quick research of his own on Google?
Playing persona 4 for the 4th time
I wish I was a japanese schoolgirl bros
Unless you're a weeb, absolutely not worth the buy. Switch is a vastly better handheld experience.
If you're a weeb, go ahead, practically every good game on the system was made for you.
>theres a small tweak you can make on the 2k models that makes the difference between 1k and 2k non existent.
Let's not get crazy here, even after the registry tweak, a 2000 still has a noticeable yellowish tint. The real reason to get one would be that you don't need a memcard to setup a SD2VITA and the screen will last literal decades unlike the OLED in the 1000s.
>If you do, well, there had better be some Vita-specific games you want to play.
To be fair, considering how agonizing playing anything on PSP that requires clawing is, I'd be half-tempted to say that it'd be worth it just to play MH and Peace Walker without developing arthritis.
I do own an original PSP, but I'd like a Vita for emulators + Vita catalog + Remote play. I read that they use specific memory cards that can be expensive though.
No. All the games are weebshit, and garbage ports. I sold mine 4 years ago, after replaying ps2 games I already beat.
fuck no
>arthritis
you get used to clawing, i actually never had problem with it lol. I'm not sure if i should sell my vita and buy like shoes or switch games for that price or keep it but i kinda hate just the idea of having such a device. Did you buy it in early 2012? Did you have psp before?
No, not anymore. Buy a Switch from before June 2018 and hack it. You can now run your legit FW, a separate CFW and Android on it, all on the same SD card. Emulation is really good, and the ability to run Android now has opened the door to so many homebrew related things.
Only if you hack it. I fucking love mine. The ability to download all vita, psp, and ps1 games directly to the vita without having to connect it to the computer is great.
I loved the system and got it when it was new. Unfortunately there isn't shit for good games on it, and a lot of them have to throw in the gimmicky ass controls like making you rotate the device to balance.
>I'm not sure if i should sell my vita and buy like shoes or switch games for that price or keep it but i kinda hate just the idea of having such a device.
I mean, that's your call to make, but I personally never sell off my gaming hardware. I either keep it for when the itch strikes me to revisit something in the library, or gift it to someone that I'm confident will appreciate it
>Did you buy it in early 2012?
Nope. I imported mine about a year after the Slim revision came out.
>Did you have psp before?
I had a 1000 before I got my Vita, so it was a pretty big jump. Admittedly, I was mostly sold on my Vita for Tearaway and GR.
I've since gone back and gotten some better PSP models for more face-button heavy games, but there's just no replacing that second analog once you get used to it.
Does remote play still work after hacking it? I'd like to play PS4 games in my comfy bed too.
>Worth getting in 2019?
If you've held off this long on one I'd say no. Most of its games that it did have have since been ported to other platforms, and even sometimes those ports have even more content.
Vita has a shitload of multiplats and runs most of them subpar and a lot of them very poorly. Pretty much if a game came out after 2014 and isn't a DRPG or a VN expect it to run at subnative resolution on top of the framerate being a giant mess
>Has it been hacked to pirate games?
Yeah, but a new firmware just came out yesterday that blocks the most recent way to hack it. Again, what you'll most likely end up using it for is for PSP games and emulating old stuff up to PS1.
Not even trying to shit on the Vita since I have one, played a ton of games on it, and enjoyed my time with it but I wouldn't recommend it to over 95% of gamers, especially now.
Damn I was hoping to find one around $100 and people are still asking $150-200 for them.
Everything works, even regular online play. I have 3.60 Enso CFW, not sure if it works with the other ones though.
>get used to it
Not really, monhun has a very limited camera movement, and moving a joystick just a little bit makes the camera do a diffferent view mode (cause monhun 1-3 had view modes). It's not as bad in monhun 3u with a c stick or circle pad pro, on a vita joystick it's bad.
>library
I mean, i sold my ps4 but most of the games that i liked are available on ps4, except for soul sacrifice which is dead.
>Nope
Then imagine waiting for good games with a big gap between them to begin with and them being mediocre quality and then bam! it's just cheap A anime rpgs and indies that are terrible to play on a vita (screen is just too small for games like guacamelee despite it being made for vita or fez, similar games). I also had a fat model with 3g and it barely did anything that 3g, which i broke and then they replaced it for a slim model which was even more dissapointing, screen really does look bleaker and the overall console looks like a plastic toy. I think it's similar with psp 1000 and other slim models, but slim models were actually better. The only thing good about psp fat is tha it's more comfortable to hold cause of how bulky it is and how it feels like an expensive device.
It does work, it's just bad
The price is a big reason why I wouldn't recommend it. When they were on fire sale for $130 new, and you could find used ones in the $60 range with a memory card and PSTVs were still $20 for the box or $40 for the bundle with a PS3 controller included it was easy to suggest to anyone with a passing interest. Since then the prices have more than doubled and even more of its very few exclusives have been ported to other platforms.
OLED models still require a proprietary memory card to hack, then you need to add in the price of an SD2Vita though those are cheap, and an SD card on top of that and at that point it's no longer worth it. The money would be much better spent on something else, especially when a hacked PSP can practically do everything a hacked Vita can but Vita games at a tiny fraction of the cost.
>finally hacked my vita
>the only semi interesting games that arent ports run like total ass even overclocked and have superior PC ports these days
Like what? I meant vita to pc ports. Except for drinkbox games
Lost Dimension, Mary Skelter, Labyrinth of Refrain and Caligula all got PC ports if thats what you are asking,
Eww
when is Sony going to stop being retarded and release an xperia play 2 with the whole vita library?
They could just make another xperia with -playstation mobile like thing that plays ps1, psp, vita games and maybe ps2 that would be good but i think they are not gonna make or make it payed or whatever, most of their services suck balls. Playstation mobile what the fuck was that? I have like 5-10 apps on my old xperia z1 that are some sony services that don't work anymore lol
Its 2019, you can be EVERYTHING you want
That would have the switch like mechanic. Just buy separate controllers or they would come with a phone
sly, ratchet, god of war, and metal gear solid hd collections are the best games on the console
Same here, I was also interested in ys, atelier, and tokyo xanadu but it's better to play them on pc
You forgot jak.
didnt forget, the vita port runs sub 10 fps
anybody got the l2 r2 grip thing? im wondering it is worth it, i play alot of ratchet and clank and im sick of strafing with the back pad
It doesn't, just has slowdowns, mainly jak 2 or 3, don't remember. I have all of these and didn't beat any of them, except for mgs 2/3
I'ts just too expensive. It also has l3 and r3
just saw it for 75 bucks on amazon, fuck that. ill just put up with awkward controls i guess
I have one for the OLED model. It feels remarkably cheap. It also fits so tight that even a glass screen protector can interfere with it.
Yeah, maybe i wouldn't have sold my ps4 if i had that thing
