I just beat this game today. What did I think of it?

I think you thought that godhome really made you think.
Fun game, interesting lore.
Can't wait for Silksong.
is the protagonist of this game really completely void of will and emotions? sure doesn't seem like it
It was kino.
You thought it was a pretty fun game, there were parts you were iffy on but overall it was a good experience.
I'm still stuck in this game not knowing where to go. I don't have dark versions of any of my powers and I don't know where the next boss is
what do you mean by beat? getting the first ending isnt beating it
OP here, I didn't beat this game. What do I think of it?
Yes
good game
kino
sorry user you might have the retarded
it was kind of shit with good art and soundtrack.
Ending isn't satisfying and doesn't give closure
where are you and what was the last boss you beat?
you think you should beat it
There's 3 endings, 2 are shit but one is pretty good I found
That's what they were aiming for when they made it.
Hard to tell whether they succeeded.
The titular Hollow Knight was also supposed to be void of the stuff but he still had some left in him.
Actually I think I am mistaken I have the dark version of the forward blast skill.
Not sure of the last boss I beat since I run from a lot of them but the last boss I died to was a warrior spirit in the queens gardens who bounces around a little. I broke all the way back to greenpath. The enemies around there are annoying and shoot flying air frisbees
i have crystal dash, double jump, wall jump, dash, ground pound, the yell, all 3 weapon arts.
Feels like a blank slate for you to self insert into. Its personality is yours to define.
Honestly at this point you could go anywhere, only the start is more of a linear path.
If you want to 100% just fully explore every area and beat all the bosses, if not you can just beat all the dreamers and end the game right now.
I just can't beat a lot of the side bosses with anything resembling a complicated pattern that I can't fluke blast through or hide and heal from. Anything that hits me fast enough that I can't heal I 100% can't beat. This is one of my first platformers because I'm so bad at them that I routinely have to backtrack after getting damaged to fight a little and get health back. I fall on spikes and such all the time.
>I just can't beat a lot of the side bosses with anything resembling a complicated pattern that I can't fluke blast through or hide and heal from
Then you're bad at this game and won't stand a chance against the true final boss or DLC bosses anyways. Get good while you still can.
On the first playthrough I found it really difficult too but just keep playing and you get the hang of it.
Try using the Longnail + Mark of Pride + Quickslash + Fragile Strength charm combo, it's really good and makes a lot of bosses and enemies super easy.
A lot of bosses don't let you heal, so just forget about it, treat every hit as permanent during the fight
I told myself that I'm gonna kill this bitch and go to bed. The bitch is dead and I still can't go to sleep.
I gave away my fragile strength charm and don't have the geo to get it back since I've double died a few times. Isn't longnail+mark of pride a bad combo?
I mean I'm trying but I hate how far some bosses are from benches, it's hard to remember what I did wrong when I get there after 15 minutes and die immediately each time.
>I hate how far some bosses are from benches
It's almost like you're being punished for dying.
>Isn't longnail+mark of pride a bad combo?
I'm pretty sure it stacks additively
the 6 bouncing armadillo looking motherfuckers
I just can't do it
Yea Forums, have you beaten the Pantheon of Hallownest? When are you gonna do it?
I quit after a few times on them too
It’s literally called “hollow knight”
The character itself is un-emotive, but I believe things like the descriptions under the names of characters are colored by the knight's experience. Take the Banker Millibelle for example. Her subtitle is the banker, but is changed to thief once she's swindled the knight's deposit. It doesn't mean it has a personality, but it certainly has some sort of "mind" however you put it.
I have. I'm tempted to try it with bindings but then I always remember that the collector gets his primal aspids and I give up before I start.
There’s a hidden passage before the room where you can kill 1 before the fight. Other than that, it can be bothersome. I personally pogo when they roll, I feel like you can usually tell where their jump attack will put them, but it’s been a while.
I think you need Dashmaster charm for it
Hardest fight for me, other than absolute radiance and grey prince zote
No, this user is right . Even the Hollow Knight wasn't actually devoid of emotions because of his bond with the Pale King, and the Knight, the protagonist, isn't either otherwise the true endings and the Void Heart make zero sense. If the Radiance is only defeated once the Void is united under the protagonist's will, then how does that happen if the Knight actually is Hollow? The White Lady initially says the Knight is free of the blemishes the Hollow Knight had, but after completing the Kingsoul she hints at the protagonist being more than just the hollow vessel the she and the Pale King originally intended to create.
Pretty good game. I still haven't gotten the true ending. Do I need to get 100% clear rate or something?
How do you kill these guys without getting hit? (when you can't jump over them)
Charged swing hits on the second hit then immediately dash out
except the whole point is that the vessels aren't actually hollow retard
wack em and dash away
Bait out their attack and run away while they're slashing, then give them a punch before they clam up again. Repeat until dead. Pretty time consuming without upgraded nails or charge attacks.
I'd like to say that's a pretty interesting way to think about it. Whether or not the developers intended for it to be interpreted that way or not, I think that's a good observation.
I've actually never had my Geo stolen though. I deposited my money in the bank then heard she was a thief from someone else. I went back and my money was still there. I just withdrew it and never put any more back in. How do you trigger the theft?
I think you need to give her a lot of money for her to run away with it, I gave her 2k geo once and it was enough
he was an incel
What are some powerful charm combinations if you're shit at the game
Depends, he might do alright with moth goddess since she's relatively slow outside of godhome but NKG sure as fuck isn't happening for him. Then again, every boss in the game feels slow after NKG so who knows
The slug one, the one where you get health for being hit, Stalwart shell
Where do you get the second one? how many times do you need to get hit before it gives you free health?
Can someone tell me what people find difficult about Grey Prince Zote? Is it just a meme? The only bosses I've had trouble with is NKG and Watcher Knights, and even then Watcher Knights were easy after getting Shadow Dash, whereas with NKG I grinded him for hours and only got him down to 50% a few times even after cheating to get infinite charm notches
>interesting lore
>dude dark souls lmao
god i just beat regular grimm last night by standing under him and spamming shriek, NKG looks super rough
>"it's dark souls because the way they tell their stories is similar"
retard
Grubsong (gives health when hit) + Quickfocus for fast heals
Quickslash (attack speed) + Steadybody (no knockback when attacking)
Mark of Pride + Long nail (totals +40% nail range)
Sharp shadow + Dashmaster (longer dash and does more damage)
Zote gets harder every time you fight him.
When one of his shock-waves can kill you in a single hit he becomes difficult and unpredictable.
>cheating
Faggot
Zote is easy the first few fights, but after 6 or so he starts one shotting you.
I found it pretty hard, his attacks are fast and not really telegraphed
>cheating to get infinite charm notches
if you're gonna cheat just use cheat engine and slow down the game speed, probably makes every boss super easy
that you want to fug the bug
Oh my bad I misspoke, you get Soul for being hit. It’s called Grubsong, just return 10 grubs.
He's very difficult to predict and I found myself jumping right into him or his attacks pretty often. I eventually learned how to read him, but it wasn't very intuitive.
You can't cheat on the switch
>What did I think of it?
I actually don't give a fuck about what you think, leave and never come back.
Finally.
Honestly Grimm isn't that bad period, I only grinded NKG for so long because I'm a shitter that's too bad to git gud at dodging, especially that uppercut attack. If I sat down and actually tried I'm sure I could get it, I was just never consistent at dodging his attacks and would take damage stupidly trying to get attacks in. That in combination with the double damage and the lack of opprotunity to heal makes NKG a really hard fight for me but even then I'd say he's still decently fair, don't worry about it too much user
I'm sorry senpai
I chose to cheat that way because I still wanted the fight to feel somewhat legitimate, so I'd still have to git gud. Why not just make myself invincible at that point, I didn't do it for any of the other bosses and only did it for NKG after spending hours doing nothing but retrying
Whether or not you thought the game was hard, what boss did you think had the most 'bullshit' in their pattern?
Grey Prince Zote by far, every other boss I knew their attacks and only died when I fucked up.
With GPZ I had oftne had no clue what he was about to do
Fuck moths and fuck the sun.
I didn't feel that way with any of the bosses honestly, they all felt pretty fair and it was obvious to me that when I died it was my fault
Zote, the Rollie pollies. Also trying to Radiant the tennis boss is very annoying.
the hollow knight is not the mc.
he's a cute little bug boi.
On that note, which boss was your favorite?
Mine is the Radiance by far, all of her patterns felt really great to dodge and her fight clicked instantly for me the first time through. I just beat the game for the first time myself today with 104% completion rate and I can't wait to get to Absolute Radiance after doing all the Godmaster stuff
Nice holdover till the true goat of Metroidvania returns
Gruz Mother
Zote, Markoth and Uumuu. Pre-nerf for the latter, fuck the boss nerfs.
that's a boss?
He is pretty easy but I like killing Brooding Mawlek, a harder one that I enjoyed a lot is the Mantis Lords fight
Which NORMAL ENEMY was the most bullshit?
>>that's a boss?
Kinda but not really, babbys first locked room fight
the flukemungas
You gotta not be afraid to get underneath the fuckers when they jump at you. Assert your dominance.
if zote is so cool why was he caught by so many shitty bugs along the way
Ending 1:
The Knight is perfectly hollow, born of two voids: the black void at the bottom of the map and the wilderness outside of Hallownest that robs travellers of their memories. The knight is a true hollow vessel and can seal the Radiance indefinitely.
Endings after getting the void heart:
The knight has regained its memories ruining its hollowness "born of two voids" and is an impure vessel again. notably when you get the void heart the knight sees its own reflection in the broken egg shell Recognizing your reflection is a common metric for measuring a creatures "self awareness". The knight can no longer indefinitely seal the radiance but new pathways to defeating the radiance are opened.
but that's just like, my opinion man
because of extraordinarily atrocious bad luck, you soggy vagabond
There a lot of good arguments for the knight being hollow or not, but it's very vague can't know for sure. Maybe the devs will reveal more in Silksong
Given how Silksong takes place in an entirely new kingdom I doubt we'll even see the Godmaster endings expanded upon, let alone new lore about the Knight
Upgrade the dive spell and get shaman's stone, Watcher Knights don't easily counter aerial attacks and the dive gives you just enough iframes to keep away from them
Grey Prince Zote, Lost Kin, Watcher Knights, Markoth, No Eyes, Uumuu
I feel like the "bad end" implies that even the player character isn't totally void of emotion and thought.
the fucking Deepnest bugs that come burrowing out of the ground
primal aspid
How many of these bosses are actually needed to beat the game?
I think you could get by with just these with no skips for an any% victory.
