I honestly thought it was an action game, turns out its an open world action RPG. I wonder if i liked DMC/Bayonetta will I like this?

I have this weird thing to where I believe this game will be pretty good and want to play it but I didn’t care enough to watch or read very much about it. OP’s description sounds cool though.

The director described it as being similar to Nier Automata in how the world is traversed. As you progress through chapters, more locations will open up and they're all connected together.

Is it more RPG or action though? Like is it going to play more like Mass Effect or DQ11/FFXV? I mean I kinda liked DQ11 but I fucking hated FFXV.

platinum combat is such a meme. it's always been super shallow gameplay, why do people always hype it up as the greatest thing ever? The majority of their games have been mediocre at best.

As much as i’m tired of open world, i’m a little worried that it isn’t. I am not the biggest fan of replaying missions like dmc simply to get a higher score. I wonder where the replay-ability will lie. I hope the story is good. At the worst I can pay $60 for the game, beat it and trade it back for $30. It looks insane though. I haven’t seen looking like this game does in quite some time. The combat just looks so next level.

For me, its that it doesn't even get close to the complexity of dmc3

I agree, though not even other DmC titles get that close so its an outlier more than a standard. This game looks like its going to be fast, having a lot of variety, and ooze style. That's plenty fine for me, and hopefully it will be even better than it looks.

You need to replay levels later when you have more abilities to find everything. In W101 there were plenty of hidden items in each level that you needed specific abilities from later in the game to get to. There's also side missions to find within the levels, and there's costume parts to collect too. Replaying levels is also good for getting more money and legion skills.

Camera thing looks a lot like BotW's. Seems you can take pictures of important characters to scan them, maybe for character/enemy profiles. Camera seems to be available during combat.

Using healing items gives you some points (medicine master), probably get a lot more for not taking damage though. And using the revival batteries probably hurts your score more.

Majority of Monster Hunter games and Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro are 30fps on consoles and that doesn't stop anyone from playing them. Yes 60 fps looks better, but 30 fps still plays fine and is not enough of a reason to skip the games.

i have a small amount of faith for dxm purely because the devs showed they were willing to fix issues reported from the beta test demo, and showed off a build at e3 that changed pretty much everything people wanted. still don't see it being anything more than a 7/10 but it'll probably do enough, especially with co-op with a mate

FPS has more impact on games with fast camera movement, mainly first person games. I play all my games on a 144hz monitor and use 144 fps on the games that support it. There's still plenty of games I enjoyed that were only 30fps (even rhythm games like Project Diva on psp/vita). FPS is more visuals than gameplay. It doesn't directly affect your inputs. People do frame perfect dodges in Monster Hunter games just fine on 30fps. You're just having an autistic bitch fit over something that the devs are not going to change. Either play the game as it is and enjoy its other aspects, or wait for emulation to be good enough for 60+fps, or ignore the game and move on instead of crying about it.

I probably will be one of the platinum games with the least depth, there's only one attack button and you don't have as much control of your legion as you really should (seriously one button should've controlled the player as a light attack and the other the legion as some sort of heavy attack).

You scan stuff in the crime scenes to add to your evidence list. Some parts of the missions require you to choose from your evidence (and detective stuff gets rankings too). The scan also shows you past events that the city cameras picked up and projects them as holograms (AR).

They've already shown that your own combos have tap and hold variants (and supposedly delay inputs too), and you do press the legion button at the end of combo strings for the legion attack (and looks to be at least 45 different legion attacks). Each legion has multiple attack skills to equip to X and Y, and there are some skill commands that are always active like the Back > Forward > ZL (legion) one.

Deoebsing on gameplay loop, I can see it being very relaxing, but if I play it again tired after work, I might fall asleep like with Red Dead 2. I enjoyed it immensily, but on more slower moments I just passed out

Its pretty decent on switch, there aredips in intensive scenws, but they never go down past 50 or have frame pacing issues. Same for bayonetta 2. Wii U version was struggling, but Switch version is waaaay better
