I just finished Judgment

I just finished Judgment
Holy shit.
>game is a pretty great 8/10 for the majority of the game
>final act is 12/10 pure ludokino
>THAT FINAL BOSS
By far the best story and cast in any game by RGG Studio, by far the best final boss in any game by RGG studio
Give me more spin-offs like this.

I hope it's just a one off, it had a nice closure.
I can't imagine Nagoshi making a sequel without somehow ruining it with an overcomplicated story.

I'll practically suck RGG's dick over anything Yakuza related, so I might be a tad bit biased, but it's one of my favorite games from them.

0 still remains a piece of my heart, however.

Me too. Judgment was perfect as a story, they shouldn't make sequels to it at all, what I want are more games similar to Judgment that spin-off from Yakuza because I think by doing this they could keep up the quality of their stories and keep making interesting characters.
Judgment proves that you don't need a dozen games to make memorable characters, they stand so well on their own and I think I prefer the cast of characters in the game over most, if not all, Yakuza games.
With Judgment we were Detective/Lawyer
In another spin-off they could make it around a character in an entirely different occupation, maybe a police officer in the Kamuro PD and your "home-base"/Apartment is the Police HQ in Kamurocho
Just a thought, they can do so much.
Fuck this makes me excited for Shin Yakuza

I feel the same way.
These games have become a kind of "comfort food" for me
>Eww Food Analogy
I couldn't think of any better way to describe it. I know exactly what I'm paying for and I love it each time, it's reliable. The only game I've actively disliked is Kiwami, otherwise I've enjoyed my time with every single one of the games a ton

I love this game. I'm almost finished with it.
Genuinely can't put it down. I especially like first time you see the mole in action, that shit caught me by surprise, that nigga is brutal.

The design for The Mole is fucking great too. Looks intimidating as hell and real creepy.
Strap yourself in user because

You need to wait until the 3/4/5 remasters are out which is probably going to happen several months after the PS4 editions.
Why else would they skip straight to Kiwami 2 when 6 came first.

I was kinda iffy on the soundtrack throughout a lot of the game.
It was pretty great, but not quite as good as some previous Yakuza games
But goddamn did it pick up towards the end

Let's hope they have a change of heart on that because it could be a long fucking time until the remasters release in the west.

I gotta leave this thread in a minute anons, but I hope you can keep it alive for a bit longer. I enjoy reading your thoughts on this game

It might not. They more or less have the scripts translated already and Yakuza 5 requires the least changing.

fuck off, portbegger.

It depends on if they release them in a 3/4/5 collection or stagger their releases.
I hope for a collection of the 3.

A collection would be nice, and I'd love for there to be a physical copy of Yakuza 5 on PS4 that runs at 60fps. But if they released the remasters individually in Japan then I doubt it'll be any better in the west.
At the very least though they'll probably be budget price on release.

yo guys I could use some help
I'm looking for the music that plays when tokugawa puts on his wig and gets all poetic
downloaded the ost too but can't find it

Slap all of them on steelbox for 60 bucks like they did with dark souls, I'll get it day one.

I've been thinking about getting into the Yakuza series. Is this a good place to start?

Is this game good on its own terms, or should I play some of the other Yakuza games first, to properly calibrate my expectations?

>You immediately see him bolt for a wall to do a wall kick at your face.

Well it's a alright place to start since the story has nothing to do with Yakuza series.

This is one of the better Yakuza games, along with 0.

It's unrelated to main series besides the city so if you get in and get out with this one you won't miss much either way.

Yakuza references are very few and far between and this game overall is mostly standalone, there's nothing wrong with giving this a go, just keep in mind only 6 and Kiwami 2 play somewhat like it due to it being on the newest engine.
If you want to start with Yakuza in general then either 1 on the PS2 (Prepare for a forced English dub and some rougher gameplay) and then go in order of release, some people started with 4 because it introduces you to a bunch of new guys and while you'll miss some important moments starting here it's not too rough int hat respect, or 0 and go along with Kiwami 1, then Kiwami 2, and then the rest of the series. However you start is up to you, just know that if you start with 0 and follow along chronologically you're going to be jumping from the old engine to the newest engine to the old(er) engine and that brings some tolerance for various levels of gameplay polish.

I already have a pc why would I buy another

Just watch the game on youtube. There's barely any meaningful gameplay. The action is hilariously broken with "press a button to one-shot the enemy" moves. It's an interactive mini-series, so treat it like one and watch it on the internet. Don't listen to Yakuza-niggers who try to defend the "gameplay."

Please help me with amon. I can't beat him.

First phase you want to stay away from him, if you see him pull a grenade stay about roughly three feet away from him, right before he throws it start up a Flux Fissure, and when you start charging it'll super armor the grenade throw and land the Flux Fissure on him, this is basically the only way to land one on him in the fight. Also make sure you dodge away if he ever gets near you, as long as your phone isn't stolen he will always make an attempt for it first before he goes into a combo. If you attack and bounce off of him there's a 90% chance he tries grabbing you as well. If you can try to get off the S4T3 Heat Action where Yagami kicks him up into the air because this is pretty much the only time you can do it and it does good damage. If you make it to the end of this phase without losing the phone he won't try for it again.
Phase 2 and 3 are the same, but 3 will have a shield that makes you deal chip damage unless you are the opposite style. Being in the same style as Amon will make the projectiles deal a bit of damage and Amon's attacks will deal far less but both give you lots of Heat, so the goal here is to absorb until you have a full EX bar, wait until he style changes, mash R2 in his opposite style (Blue means stay in Tiger for more damage, red means stay in Crane), and then do whatever you can to deal damage. Pay attention to your bar, and once you see it deplete and your combo ends immediately switch to the other style or you'll basically die instantly. Rejuvination Extract is a must for this phase, your HP gets shredded by the stuff that gives you Heat.
It's basically a gimmick fight once you make him lose four bars of health but if you're not careful you can and will pretty much die instantly. Sometimes he'll give you the middle finger with one style's projectiles up in the air while he switches and immediately starts attacking and there's nothing you can really do.

Thank you.
