The story was kino but the game was boring af (apart from a few missions)

Pic related is the true peak of the franchise. Fun missions and a good story. I have no idea why gta v is so bad, I was expecting it to be like tbogt.

Your favorite GTA is dependent on if you played it as a kid. It was many zoomers' first GTA game, so of course they're going to fondly look back on it.

It had incredibly fun physics that you could spend hours fucking around with. Beyond that it was just as boring as every other GTA game. Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle, etc.

It had a lot of great stuff in it but overall it has aged poorly and was a step back from SA in many ways. It doesn't deserve the title of "best gta game" but it's far from the worst. It's just kinda bland looking back on it.

The game was ugly as hell. I mean yeah it's a gloomy dirty city, but holy shit I can only handle so much grey, brown, and tan.
Still the driving and police shootouts are much better in IV than in V. The police in V are basically terminators who almost never miss. I don't find the driving as fun either. I hope Rockstar takes the driving and police to a happy medium of IV and V.

Nah it's aged the best considering it still has the best controls in the series, the characters aren't ripped straight out of movies and it has two dlcs to expand on the world.

In hindsight 4 is more or less a prototype for the Housers actual passion project, the Redemption series.

I mean, aside from being able to drive cars, it's literally not a GTA, the story is serious, the characters fate is dramatic and the ending is wrist cutting depressing either way, neither the spin offs nor V followed that trend, so I guess they did their serious writing attempt with 4 first before developing it further with RDR 1 and 2.

Let's stop talking about what's the best GTA for a second and discuss about what is the most underrated one.

GTA3 had the biggest impact on me, mainly because it was first. I was jaw-dropping to be in a realistic open world. I'd been dreaming of a game like that to come since I was a kid

Though the physics systems are definitely diffrent, the guy is obviously braking in V and not braking in IV. You can literally see the brake lights.

When it came out it was really good, but eventually you’d realize that it can be improved on in a number of ways. GTA V came out and when the novelty wore off, you realized that it’s not as good as IV. I know that a “sequel” doesn’t necessarily mean an “upgrade” to the series, but that’s usually what I come to expect and GTA V didn’t really deliver. It was more of a lateral “evolution” so to speak.

It's good if you skip the cutscenes. The FEEL of the city peaked here

It's a meme. San Andreas was the best Vice City. The only reason people don't still talk about it is because it didn't age well. But if you lived to play every GTA as it was released, you'd say you had the most fun and the best story in GTA:SA.

I have no idea how you made that connection. They're completely different. Saints Row 3 (and onward) has been a light series with comedic elements and lots of crazy side-shit that had no basis in reality.

GTA5 takes itself WAY too seriously and the game is worse for it. It's just too "heavy" to really have fun with. The game, like RDR2, has a focus on drama and realism and forgets about actually having fun. In this respect, Saints Row 3 is far superior to GTA 5.

If I was forced to replay one of the two, It'd be SR3 easily. That game is so much fucking fun and I can drive more than 3 blocks without hearing an NPC scream "Fuck this" or "Fuck that".

I love me some Kinzie. GTA5 lacked sex appeal. I mean, even the stripper dance was somehow boring. It was basically a sausage fest except for the dude's daughter. You'd go hours without seeing a sexy female except the generic pedestrians. There were no main or secondary sexy characters in GTA5 except that daughter. I swear I can't remember her name and don't really care either.
