I cannot enjoy action games after DMC 5
Whoops, wrong image.
Definitely harder than DMC5, everything including DMD was a joke.
Ninja Gaiden Black is better.
almost
Nah
NGB is up there but it's not even as good as DMC3.
DMC5 left me disappointed with its fanfic tier story and shit levels. Sekiro was way better.
>of all time
To each his own, but I would much rather play Ninja Gaiden 2 or bayonetta than anything dmc.
I don't even think you're the best DMC game.
AHEM
I love NGB but have yet to play NG2. Maybe someday. PC ports really would be nice.
This.
I've had the urge to play Ninja Gaiden for years, and I keep checking the PSN store, only to remember they were never ported or remastered.
I just want Itagaki to make me his bitch again.
WHERE IS VERGIL DLC
People complain about explosions, but I love it.
youtube.com
>DMC5 left me disappointed with its fanfic tier story and shit levels.
Eh, I'm still trying to process it myself but the more I think about its flaws, the more I think of counterarguments to argue against those supposed flaws.
The story still isn't as good as 3's though.
I honestly don't see how you could think 3 is better than 5 outside of story and the Vergil fights.
When Capcom wants more money they'll sell the SE.
Alright, guys.
>What did you think about Dante's moveset?
>What did you think about Nero's?
>V's?
>What would you have liked to have been done differently?
>Thoughts on enemies and boss fights?
>What would you like to see in the Special Edition?
The story was complete dogshit. Half the characters did nothing in the story, Vergil killed the whole town but it's ok. I wouldn't be complaining as much, but I replayed it 3 times and the more I played it the more I hated it.
>Vergil killed the whole town but it's ok
Eh, I felt that way too but honestly, Nero and Dante do call him out on it and the games ends with him and Dante going to hell to cut down the roots of the Qlipoth.
>I'm just the greatest action game of all time.
Not with V's playable sections in it. Tedious, boring, brainless button mashing... V is the reason this game is a pain to play more than once.
>fantastic
>fantastic
>alright
>Dante: every sword should have drive
>Nero: should be able to swap breakers without having to break them
>V: should do more with the guy himself, instead of just reading a book he could do other kind of magic shit like mines for setup
>best in the series and probably the genre as a whole although more enemies should be able to get the boys out of the air like ranged attacks or long jumps
>ladies and vergil, turbo mode, other small changes
>Itagaki
user, I...
>Half the characters did nothing in the story
Lady is the only one that barely did anything
Lady, Trish and the new girl.
>V's?
boring and hard to move around
>What would you have liked to have been done differently?
more missions, better pace, more dante missions, playable vergil
Kingdom Hearts is the best action game series of all time.
Hey buddy, I think you uploaded the wrong image by accident. Surely you meant to post this?
Trish was used to for v's characterization and nico bantz and arms for nero. she's not a fighter dummy
Lady is the one who was useless unfortunately
>Vergil killed the whole town
Wasn't it stated that the tress are a natural occurence? All these people would've died anyways, regardless of Vergil's resurrection.
/thread
Fuck you.
>replying to yourself
But aren't the "fanfic tier" stories something that the other games you listed also share? The level design also isn't NG(2)'s or Bayo's strong point either.
>greatest action game
>pic related blocks your path
Almost.
Fuck you DMC5 shill, maybe you and I should settle it in the ring if you think you're so tough.
Bayonetta, NGB, Godhand and DMC3SE are better
>What did you think about Dante's moveset?
Great. Pretty much what I expected, but that's not a bad thing.
>Nero's?
I don't really like the arm mechanic. It adds variety but I forget to use it for whatever reason and I feel like it just muddies shit up. Otherwise, pretty good. Also about what I expected.
>V's?
V sucks.
>What would you have liked to have been done differently?
The level design. It's not very good. Even on SoS some enemies feel like they take ages to die, let alone on DMD. I'm not a big fan of that either.
>Thoughts on enemies and boss fights?
Some of the enemies blend together for me, but the overall boss and enemy roster is pretty good. I'm not a fan of every boss, but I feel that way about every game in the series.
DMC5 had no difficulty curve. Enemy DTs just, what, increased health?
Levels in NG2 and bayo are pleasant to look at.
Story in ng2 and bayo is nothing special, but I don't think it's quite as bad.
Ehh I've been going back and forth between it, and Sekiro, and Sekiro continues to enthrall me with locales, as well as meaty combat. DMC5, on the other hand, has really bland environments and I only really enjoy Dante's combat since there are no limits. At first I was really digging Nero's fire and forget gameplay loop in regards to devil breakers, but after playing Dante so much I'd much rather have a wheel I could spin between, while also retaining the
>Get hit during charge/activate a charge, it breaks
bit. There's also V, who sucks.
>What would you have liked to have been done differently?
Give Nero a wheel but retain the fragility of his devil breakers. Make Nidhogg more of a cocky asshole so V could banter more. Ixnay the colossus boss, or at least give it a fucking personality.
>What would you like to see in the Special Edition?
I don't think anything they'd add would make me buy DMC5, again. I've nearly had my fill of it, and playing as Vergil doesn't interest me if I have to drop more than 20 on it.
The tree grows in hell, not on earth if I remember correctly
based
sequel when
youtu.be
I'm replaying the series because I THOUGHT it was my favorite series after Zelda and Soulsborne, but you know what? Fuck it. This series is a goddamn, pathetic mess.
DMC1
>6/10 action game
>game implies repeatedly that Vergil and Dante really never knew each other; next three real games entirely focus on NOTHING BUT THE OPPOSITE
>Swimming levels; no wonder he was fired from Capcom
>Mundus fight is atrocious
Overall still a decent game though, enjoyed it, hasn't aged that well but not badly either. Could really use that remake Kamiya said he wanted to do (impossible, Capcom fired you for these shitty swimming levels).
DMC2
>One of the worst games in any popular franchise of all time
DMC3
>perfect
DMC4
>Half of a game
>force feeds a new character down your throat for half of a game
DMC5
>now force feeds TWO characters down your throat
>I just waanna play as Dante man
>surprisingly heartfelt story that ties everything from every game together in a fantastic, emotional way
>OoPs VeRgIl is WaCkY BeJiTa NoW xDDD Kakarot mirite guys powaaaaaah
Series should have died with DmC. After replaying 3, the Vergil fight at the end of 5 is embarassing. Airplane Vergil is a crime. Even worse than Big Dick Energy Vergil. All of his scenes were kino and DMC5 is basically the best game I've played in a few years along with RE2, but there should be an option to play the entire game as Dante or Nero or V.
Also I miss beating off to Lady in 2008 with the preorder art book. I can't beat off to this horse face
>Enemies don't fight back: the game
>Sekiro is the action GOTY of the year
You failed 2019.
same as every other DMD mode user. more hp and damge, more aggression and new moves for certain enemies
>not liking DMC5 Lady
Pretty much my exact thoughts on the whole franchise, wow. I loved DMC5 but it felt like it had one foot in "bold comeback full of originality" and "stuck in the past, fan-wank simulator"
ty for the astute rebuttal, user.
t. watched a streamer play through devil hunter
>Hey buddy, I think you uploaded the wrong image by accident. Surely you meant to post this?
I wouldn't say W101 was the GOAT but still, great fucking taste anyway. Top 5 easily.
It's a good game, but the combat is two buttons.
>Sekiro is shi-
For you and everyone else who thinks about replying, don't. It's a pasta. He already posted it in another DMC thread.
>After replaying 3, the Vergil fight at the end of 5 is embarassing
Fucking this.
youtube.com
youtube.com
all that shit you wrote boils down to "Sekiro is the better action game because it has forests and shit and i only want to play as Dante"
I heard it was stripped down but that's good to hear. I played through DH and half of SoS before I got bored and quit. I wish DMD was unlocked from the start (or at least SoS was) because DMC5 is way too easy on DH and SoS
Well thanks for the heads up user, I'll just post Lady instead then.
That's about it, the increased aggression and "new moves" barely matter. You're still just going to be beating up enemies the same way. Only instance it would matter in is in boss fights, but no boss fight besides Vergil and maybe King Cerb are all that memorable enough for me no to notice the difference anyway.
>he's going to post this in every thread
>there use to be a tard who did the exact same thing after 5 came out
>Could really use that remake
I know this is a copied and pasted bait post, but I've heard other people say they want a remake of DMC1 too. But I think any remake that Capcom would do is bound to suck the uniqueness out of the game to retrofit it into DMC3's image.
It's not a 6/10 and doesn't need a remake anyway, though. It has its flaws, but every game in the series does. DMC3 is far from perfect.
The game really, really needed a turbo mode
Lol, can't even manage to be game of the week. Dmc shitters are this delusional.
As a newcomer to the series I had to admit that this game made me bored out of my mind, took me forever to beat because whenever I remembered I had to play as V I would procrastinate by jacking it to some porn instead of wasting my time with his stages. Holy shit it's so miserable playing as him
That's a gross simplification, user.
Exorcism Strikes>Senpou Leaping Kicks. Far more immediate and has more utility because of that speed.
>user prefers [game1] over [game2] because [game1's] environments are more varied and interesting than [game2's], along with consistently satisfying combat, whereas [game2] is bogged down with two characters whose combat loops are okay, at best, compared to the third one.
Wow, what a horrid thing to say, huh?
>doesn't like boomer Vergil
why do you pretend like DMC3 is some sort of emotional rollercoaster when it's basically just wacky wahoo but the edgy version instead of ironic and self-aware
Cheer up crew-cut
Seriously, what the fuck were they thinking when they used that dreadful track for Vergil's boss fight. It's fucking shit.
Vergil Battle 3 is the worst Vergil boss theme. It's still good, though.
>DMC3 is far from perfect.
That's where you're wrong.
Yeah
As long as you say Vergil 1 or 2 instead of The Duel, you're okay.
She looks like a depressed 40 year old who never got over her slut phase and thinks she's 20 and has deluded herself into thinking she'll find her man tomorrow
You might be right, but you post like an utter fag and that's what really matters.
>Vergil Battle 3 is the worst Vergil boss theme. It's still good, though.
Shit fucking taste.
wtf, Trish in the background looks like a dude
You can have an interesting action game without combo wank. I don't think a direct comparison is warranted either way, though. Sekiro has completely different priorities.
and?
You're not far off. She is a depressed 40 year old who never got over her crazy phase and thinks she's 20 and is pissed she doesn't have a man yet.
why'd you quote the character description from the game?
Mr. user, you and I are going to address that statement.
Fight me, faggot.
youtu.be
>Implying now that Dante is gone, she won't jump all over Nero
Why does her hair look like it's from DMC4 but her face looks really realistic?
>not liking daddy trish in 5
Hair budget went towards Dante, Nero, and Trish for some reason.
>You can have an interesting action game without combo wank.
put that sentence next to "punching bag enemies" in willful ignorance in DMC discourse. The most popular DMC videos are usually boss rushes, 5Dante alone has more defensive and movement options than most other action game characters combined yet just because his offense is near endless those get ignored completely
DMC3 is an emotional rollercoaster though
Behind the whacky wahoos there is real pathos. Vergil reaching for the amulet instead of the sword at the end of 3 demonstrates this. Lady and Arkham's plot was done very well and helps compliment Dante and Vergil's relationship. Lady crying after killing her dad was a genuinely sad moment.
There's nothing like this in 5 at all. DMC3 had a very well executed plot. DMC5 stole fucking plot points from Kingdom Hearts 2
>86 posts
>no one has actually posted the greatest action game of all time yet
Sometimes less is more. Those movement and defensive options you are referring to are wasted on boring enemies.
You're gonna get shat on for this, but yeah, MGR is a classic in my book.
I dunno, I watched these mock up versions of 5's movies and it seemed better than this.
>playing through it again on PC so I can mod the hell out of it
>wondering if anyone still plays
>end up just seeing me online as Nero when I get to V's levels
Wow, it's fun seeing my data run through levels.... not.
I enjoy MGR user but no.
>put that sentence next to "punching bag enemies" in willful ignorance in DMC discourse.
Are you really going to tell me DMC doesn't emphasize combos? My post still stands. Options only matter insofar as the game uses them. Sekiro and DMC are radically different games but they're both good. Same for Shinobi, which is why I referenced it.
well then what makes for fun enemies?
>beat Dante in Bloody Palace
>beat Nero in Bloody Palace
>get to Wave 30 with V
>fucking bored out of my mind
I fucking hate trying to beat Bloody Palace with V. I really wish he had more moves/variety with his Attacks and Companions. The only way I win with him is by using the same stupid moves over and over again, while Griffon autist-screeches the entire time.
>COMIN ATCHYA PIGGIES!
>WAAAAHAHAHAHAH!
>EAT IT!
>AAHHMMM GONNA STICK YAH!
>BARBEQUE TIME AHAHAHAHA FUCK YEAH!
>AAAAAAH HAH HAH HAH
It's good, probably has the greatest story in any action game, but the QTE finishers on bosses irks me to no end.
Hi
Nope
If you don't like Vs playstyle you need to git gud.
>git gud
>he's even more boring
Play more action games.
Aggressive AI and good move sets.
NG2 has alot of shit levels in though a third of the game is trash levels
DMC emphasizes creativity and that includes combos but there is much more to it like i just told you. the reason the 5 Vergil fight is so good is because it includes moments of comboing but also a shitload of interactions vs all of his moves
there's a reason this is the most popular dmc 5 video on youtube
youtube.com
the only real problem was the filler levels like bayo2 has
You posted this exact pasta in the last DMC Thread. It just died less than an hour ago.
Trish always looks like somebody just farted and she walked into the fart cloud.
That’s not how you spell “Transformers: Devastation”, OP.
To be fair you would to if you went from looking like she did in DMC4 to that fucking thing.
I must have misread the move lists, I barely upgraded my characters because everything sounded boring and I don't remember the descriptions sounding like what I see here. Am I missing something?
So what you're saying is the cannon fodder enemies suck because they're not as aggressive as Vergil, thus you don't need to use all of your moves; that the rank-and-file enemy roster is more concerned with being punching bags than letting Dante strut his stuff?
>I barely upgraded my characters because everything sounded boring
???????????
Also I fucking hate SDT.
>there is much more to it like i just told you.
Not really. You can play defensively or you can play offensively, but that ultimately comes down to how you initially punish enemies into combos. DMC rewards combos, its combat emphasizes combos, and the vast majority of its options and depth stem from mechanics that serve combos. DMC1 is a little different on this front -- it's more about balancing efficiency with combos -- but 4 and 5 in particular are all about combos. Bosses are a little different too, but even there you're encouraged to maximize damage by sustaining combos. Some bosses are a little more hectic than others, but DMC is still absolutely focused on combos. Combos.
If you don’t have every move unlocked you basically aren’t playing the game yet.
no not necessarily
of course 5's enemies could be more aggressive but when it comes to basic enemies they need to stay in hitstun because that's how the game is made.
i mean outside of the on foot guys, bats and goat wizards need you to at least get to them when they're in air before you can combo them and big boys can't even be combo'd at all and requires you to deal with them in other ways
>no stage selector
No.
God I need a Dragon's Dogma sequel with a more DMC-esque combat system, that's my dream game.
It's called Dark Souls 3.
>Dragons Dogma 2 has a Vergil and Dante Vocation unlocked after you beat the game
I'd go fucking mental.
Unfortunately, with MHW's success, I don't think DD2 will see the light of day.
Assuming Nier Automata wasn’t enough (it wasn’t for me either), steel your testicles for the mack truck impact of Babylon’s Fall, user.
Am I correct in thinking PC during a sale would be the best place to pick up DMC5? How significant are the digital deluxe goodies?
It's really nothing like that.
it's minor upgrades to the regular weapons with a few additional moves. you can get it if it's affordable but far from necessary
and yes PC is unquestionably the best platform for DMC5
In fact after playing Dragon's Dogma I can't go back to any Souls games because they're all trash.
Cavaliere-R and the optional Breakers are basically essential, the music swaps are worth it if you like the old soundtracks more than the new one, and everything else is awful “pay to not play” tier bullshit and IDK what the Deluxe specifically includes.
PC is still the place to play because of Cheat Table “mods” that raise the skill ceiling by a ton.
Weapons Tier List
>top tier
Sparda, Yamato, Beowulf, Summon Swords, Red Queen, Blue Rose, Pandora, Overture, Gerbera, Punchline, Buster Arm, Balrog, Dante, Doctor Faust, King Cerberus, Double Kalina Ann
>high tier
Ebony and Ivory, all shotguns, Grenade launcher, Nightmare Beta, Alastor, Rebellion, Cerberus, Agni and Rudra, Kalina Ann, Gilgamesh, Arbiter, Aquila, Tomboy, Ragtime, Griffon
>mid tier
Ifrit, Submachine guns, rocket launcher, Agni and Rudra, Artemis, Helter Skelter, Shadow, Rawhide, Cavelier
>low tier
Force Edge, All daggers, all thrown weapons, Nevan, Osiris, Eryx, Kablooie, V's cane
>bottom tier
Vendetta, Merciless, Lucifer, Spiral
If only I could see some gameplay.
>Cavaliere that low.
I didn't know these levels of faggotry were possible.
I know. But I already know PG well enough to know exactly what Babylon’s Fall is gonna be and I’m excited for it on those grounds alone.
The way I see it, Nier Automata Again is basically the worst thing it could wind up being. But it will be better because Taura is too busy shitting out Astral Chain to ruin the combat system. I’m hoping Saito is directing.
Cavaliere-R is good, music swaps are good for modding purposes because you can swap those out for tracks of your choosing, breakers are garbage except the Gerbera one
>Vergil DLC
>the sons of Sparda are in the underworld
>Vergil tells Dante the story of his return to the human world
>mission 1 is mission 20 from dmc3 except you play as Vergil
>mission 2, Vergil fights his way to Mundus's throne, fights lots of nobodies, shadows, death scissors, et cetera just to get stomped by Mundus who breaks the Yamato and enslaves him
>mission 3 is a three-phase rematch with Dante as Nelo Angelo, as Vergil blacks out between each round
>Vergil feels Mundus's grip on him weaken and he breaks free, but he's hunted by the demons and the constant asskicking has spent Vergil's healing factor
>mission 4 is V against Urizen, trying to stop him from raising the Qliphoth and failing
>mission 5 is a brief co-op romp with Dante, he takes up an Angelo greatsword
>Vergil laments that his newfound power comes from Urizen's mass sacrifice of human life
>the cane has fallen into hell, Vergil comments that it came to him in his moments of weakness, but this time, it will be a moment of strength
>Vergil separates his two halves once more in order to earn his power
>mission 6 is V vs Urizen
>V wins, rejoins with Urizen
>this time, the cane bursts open like a cocoon, having absorbed Yamato as well
>a sword emerges from within the cane
>Vergil frees himself and his brother from hell with the Devil Sword Vergil, but not before one last rematch with Dante in mission 7
Did I do it good?
It's called FFXV
They should just split V and Vergil in DMC6 and have the resulting split, also splitting the Yamato into Devil Sword Vergil and Devil Cane V
Wow assassin's creed has gotten ridiculous
Just make sure you move around as much to make this stale-as-fuck arpg look like it has any depth, even if dashing back and forth like a jackass isn't actually productive, practical, or logical, and for the finishing touch, fluff it up with the other playable characters that are literally an afterthought because they weren't available at launch and don't deter the dominant strategy of brute-forcing every fight while chugging a million potions. It's important that you do these things because the complexity and flashiness of your canned animations is equal to the mechanical depth of your game and is in no way a smokescreen to make it seem like there's more going on than there actually is. Just keep going out of your way to dash for no reason! I'm sure that enough of these staged webms will get Tabata un-fired one day!
I unironically think Jetstream Sam is cooler than Vergil and had an overall better bossfight
>Dante
just about perfect, not really much else to want except more weapons to fuck with
>Nero
I feel like some of the DBs need buffs because shit like helter skelter is just useless and Tomboy should hit harder imo. Kind of disappointed that DT is almost exactly the same as it was in DMC4 and I actually liked not having to have charge shot held down at all times, color up was a fine replacement
Punchline alone makes Nero as fun as Dante
>V
inoffensive but lacking any customization like Dante and Nero makes him get old fast
>What would you have liked to have been done differently?
>More missions like m7 where you can choose who to play and the level is different depending on who you choose.
>Make the game longer by like 5 missions or so
Dante's section was a little overwhelming I felt since I was being given so much shit so fast
>you fight Vergil in front of the false sparda manor
seriously its free Kino how did they not realize that would be the coolest place to have a Dante/Vergil fight?
>Thoughts on enemies and boss fights?
DMD doesn't really feel hard, enemies are just HP sponges, I was disappointed to find out scudo angelos were nerfed from Nelo since at this point Nelo Angelo would just be a miniboss to the DMC gang
>What would you like to see in the Special Edition?
Vergil being playable cannot be understated enough, seriously you make the game a resurrection/redemption arc for Vergil then you just can't play as him and he's only there for like 2 missions. The whole Vergil situation in 5 is probably one of the biggest cases of blue balls in video games I can think of
Like, why go so far to bring him back but not let us play as him if DMC6 is probably not gonna happen for awhile and there's no plans for DLC
Other than that, more meaningful Devil Breakers, proper skins, more jukebox songs, maybe a chapter for V explaining how he and Trish made it to the qliphoth since I feel like that would give Trish something to do more than some basic exposition
It's the greatest action game because it has Vergil. Imagine how much greater it would be if he was playable. It would be a wall.
I love him so much.
Play DMC5CE and realize how much Isuno downgraded the combat
Vergil DLC soon, you faggits.
>Update when the team ended their working on DMC5
>Motivation bar effect for a NPC
>Improved model
>Air cancel into JNE
>SDT after image when using rapid slash added
>DT concept art
>Boss can back flip
>Dan still working as a mo-cap
>Dan said something could still come up
>Jornalist visited Capcom and saw yamato that is being used for mo-cap
Now post your Vergil gameplay ideas
>New summoned swords types like being able of defending him from coming attacks
>Yamato can be charged with two bars of the DT bar, it would increase any attack from Yamato, and it would add a new effect that every attack cuts through reality
>Better motivation bar effects like increasing Vergil speed and adding new effects over the summoned swords, on top of damage increase and increased range
>Motivation bar can be sacrificed to allow Vergil to use a "quicksilver" type of power
>Vergil can use 5 Judgment Cut in a row, both on ground or in air
>Vergil can trick up and down, and also teleport toward enemies
>Vergil can block and come up with a counter attack of his own
>SDT can create a clone of himself
>SDT has a JCE that cuts through reality but in a more devastating way by opening big breachs that deals constant damage and with the help of his clone
>SDT plants Yamato in the ground and blue fire comes out of the ground
>SDT charges a attack that releases a energy wave toward everything in front of him
>SDT flys toward a enemy causing massive damage when landing
>SDT flys toward a enemy and causes massive damage when landing
>Inb4 Vergil too OP
Good, that means he is just perfect.
Reminder that Sparda is still alive and even more of a bum dad than Vergil
>Blew her chance with Dante and Lucia is into him
>Nero has Kyrie and is a faithful husbando
>V turns out to be Vergil and she probably still has PTSD from the events of 3
Well, guess she can either become a lesbo with Nico or Trish, or hate fuck Vergil.
>Dante, Vergil, and Sparda team up
>they all conjure their summoned swords
>Sparda gathers them in his hands
>the summoned swords fuse into a permanent pair of twin blades named Eva
How would you feel about this?
>splitting vergil
so you want 5 all over again? we got enough of v in 5 we don't want vergil dlc just to play him again
>Any Vergil theme
>Bad
There isn't a "bad Vergil boss battle theme" only a less good one.
But V has 4 exclusive missions to Dante's 6 and Nero's 8, plus V is the only playable character to never canonically fight Urizen.
>4 exclusive missions
That's a good thing though, he sucks compared to the other characters.
>canonically fight urizen
And? what difference would it make if he fights him in canon? You're not going to waste precious missions just fighting Urizen again when you can do that in bp.
>But V has 4 exclusive missions
That's four too many.
zoom zoom
>Dante and Nero are phenomenal to play as
>V feels like an afterthought and is boring as shit
V's DMD missions are so fucking boring
What's with all this shittalking V's moveset? I thought it was quite fun and neat way to do a summoner type character in this type of game.
I actually like playing as V.
Source on any of your claims?
Does anyone actually jump on v’s shadow? Like in the traile
>Has one of the best character movesets
>Every enemy is shit and the mechanics favour the player making the enemies even shittier
This game didn't believe in the player enough. I'll just keep playing God Hand and DMC3.
He's boring to play
Are you talking about when he does his face spike move? Yeah, anyone can jump on it. I've jumped on a V's Shadow in cameo mode before.
I get that Yea Forums likes to bellyache about V, but I'm just suggesting what I think would make for a hype scenario that would be a fitting way to cap off Vergil's arc, and I think he would totally do that. I,m sure you wouldn't mind playing just a bit more V if it ended with DSV.
Hi Barry, nice to see you falseflag as a KH fanboy just to shit on DMC
where's the DMC esque combat in that casual pandering mess?
But your scenario is fucking stupid. He splits himself because he wants more power? Did you forget V is the weakling and he needed Dante to help him defeat Urizen. Also his familiars don't exist anymore and if you brought them back you'd essentially be giving his nelo angelo memories.
I disagree
Let's be honest.
This game was way too easy. I beat the game in a single day and never struggled at all. It was a joke. I can't believe I paid 60$ for it.
Damn dmc 3 is still the goat
This is true too. Once I fix my computer I’m gonna play on turbo mode and hopefully that helps
thats one ugly cover
That's my point, though. Dmc has always been about inner strength, so now that Vergil's attitude has changed for the better, it would be nice to see the supposedly weak V overcome his evil side. By that same token, Vergil would be embracing his nightmares because they were part of the process of making him a better, "stronger" person.
Still waiting on a $20 sale
>Just make sure you move around as much to make this stale-as-fuck arpg look like it has any depth, even if dashing back and forth like a jackass isn't actually productive, practical, or logical
He actually just posted this in a DMC circlejerk thread without seeing the irony behind it.
Holy fuck.
>and the lord said “I will deliver to you all the countries of the world. I will carnally penetrate your asshole with my giant cock and Israel will be yours and your descendents will be born from the semen dripping from the bleeding asshole. Go and spray your semen all over the assholes of men
This game was boring. I had to stop playing after 6 hours. Sekiro, however, I couldn't stop playing.
he gets so few missions too compared to nero and dante but I still can't fucking bring myself to replay the game knowing those are still there
>same "harmless punching bag that exists for the sake of your Style meter" gameplay but the Style Meter isn't actually conducive with the autistic jump canceling combos game with mostly shit boss fights and a final boss that tries to hamfist "emotion" and ends up falling flat on its face
Nah. Maybe one day DMCfags will branch out and play games where the enemies aren't there to waddle around while you launch them and 0 to 100 them in the air while they're helpless and think that sort of absolute domination of an enemy is at all impressive.
Maybe once 5SE rolls around. I prefer Wonderful 101 & NG Black/Sigma. DMC5 is Top 5 material though, despite some issues.
You're going to be waiting a long time. We'll have DMC5SE before it's under $20 so then you'll have to wait for SE to go on sale since it will be the best version.
>god-tier DSD
So much potential with that weapon. Jesus christ.
Also, I feel like the only one who really likes Helter Skelter and Rawhide. The Breakage alone justifies the former. Such a cool move.

Yes that's what Vergil is doing now. His humanity is whats more prominent in him, you don't split him again just to prove the same point that 5 did. His nightmares are gone they can't come back, Dante essentially killed them.
Honestly m8, it's a waste of time, DMCucks have spent years defending their baby games in an echo chamber of epic combo vids, they'll never grow past it. Leave them to roll in their own shit. Most of these casuals talking about their series being "the best action games" have never actually played another game in the genre.
I think pic related is very underrated
I might move Cavalier, but those other three are staying put, and even then, Cavelier is pretty situational.
>Shit lore
The Cycle of Eternal Return and the concept of a high fantasy multiverse and how they connect to the Arisen & Pawns is fascinating.
>shit characters
Mercedes is a fascinating character, as are Edmun, Grigori, and Daimon. Side characters such as Mason, Madeleine, Selene, etc. are also worthwhile.
>no soul
You're just plain fucking wrong. The game had more cut content than DMC4, both in terms of sheer size and percentage-wise, and it still had soul. Guarantee you wouldn't say this shit if the game came out as planned and you went to the fucking MOON at Lv.80
Why can't we have a game like this again?
I mean, even normalfags who played it liked it, even though they couldn't get past the first stage.
>Artemis
>that low
Get the fuck out of here. That weapon was fun as fuck and one of the most abusable throughout that whole game.
I'm still mad we didn't get it in 5 or at least a new weapon like it. I just want to Acid Rain again.
There are more forgotten 7-8/10 action games that came out on the PS2 (let alone 6th gen in its entirety) than some consoles have worthwhile games in general.
Remember the Ghost Rider game that was a clear ripoff of DMC1 with some God of War in there? Remember Bujingai starring Gackt? Remember the Otogi games?
It's easy to think it's all settled if you're not Vergil. I tried to imagine the scenario from his perspective as someone who got the power he was looking for, but he may feel as though his hands have been dirtied by the ordeal and wants closure. Besides, I think Vergil and Griffin could have some good back-and-forth.
Hi
I agree; Even though I don't always enjoy his combat, at least it's different enough to get me excited to go back to the other two
I judge the game based on what it is instead of what it could have beem.
Nobody denies it had a HUGE potential, but it ended up as a mediocre game at best except for the core gameplay which is the only thing that is really worth mentioning.
Souls games on the other hand, specially Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne
even if at the end of the day the combat lack depth and variety, the sum of its parts makes for almost a masterpiece, while if you sum the parts of Dragon's Dogma it only makes the game worse, since the only really competent part is the gameplay and the rest are mediocre at best.
What are some other OG Xbox games worth getting so I can justify buying one for NG
>Remember the Ghost Rider game that was a clear ripoff of DMC1 with some God of War in there?
Oh, you mean the Val Helsing game that was basically DMC1? Yes, I remember.
I also remember that Castlevania game with Leon Belmont which was the very first game I played on the PS2 (and I loved it because of this).
These were good times. There were so many games from all kinds. Why nowadays there are so few?

Is there a decent emulator for the OG XBox?
>Oh, you mean the Val Helsing game that was basically DMC1?
I really do mean the Ghost Rider game that has not-Devil Trigger, gave Johnny Blaze a shotgun, has GoW Circle prompts above enemies heads when they're ready for a Buster-style command grab, has a fucking Style Meter, and had a better version of Bayonetta's Route 666 Chapter as multiple bike missions/bosses 3 years before Bayo even came out.
This list just reeks of "my first DMC was on the HD collection" . imagine actually having such fucking awful taste in everything you think Beowulf, Summoned Swords, Buster Arm, and a generic katana are better than Lucifer.
I know what you were talking about lol
I was just trying to point out that was not the only game that copied DMC.
I have really good memories of both Ghost Rider and Van Helsing, but my standards were pretty poor at the time. I doubt they would be anything special nowadays.
Special Edition better have some new costumes too. Coatless, Formal, and Casual costumes.
I figured you did but I used your post as a springboard to point out how blatant it was. The style meter that goes from D to S and giving Ghost Rider a shotgun are some of the most blatant rips I've seen, and what's weird is that the game came out in 2007, after 3SE had come out, and it definitely feels more rooted in the original DMC than 3.
suits and coatless costumes pls
and maybe topless
DMC1 Dante is all I really need. Order Nero, Gilver, and one of the prototype V designs would be cool too. Pic related, at one point they were going to have V look like Gilver but I guess that'd be way too obvious.
Sign me up for that Beach Dilf Vergil costume.

peak shit taste.
Don't bully V anymore!
>we could have gotten this qt instead of the twink
Itsunoo but its pretty poetic because that weakling is Vergil's humanity
Pandora was a great idea that ended up just kinda falling flat.
And Lucifer I kinda feel like was just a shitty prototype of DSD.
I kinda hope they bring back Pandora for Trish though.
I find these retarded pictures funny.
I don't remember, but everyone I knew who had this game were unable to get past the demon that came out of the guy.
I did struggle a lot of him as well, and even more at the boss who are two faggots.
Speaking of it, this game would generate a lot of controversy from SJWs nowadays. I loved to use the butt slap move in female enemies.
>no more dlcs

Its only been 4 months calm down. You can start complaining after tgs happens.
I like watching the Spardas acting like retards.
I feel like it's a huge bait and switch. There's no way they WON'T do it considering that DMC basically prints money.
capcom themselves have said there's nothing more. they left us high and dry with this shit and even the modders who were gonna fix the gameplay stopped because all the serious players went back to DMC4.
>All the serious players went back to DMC4
Why tho?
>updating boss vergil for nothing
yes they won't release anything wink wink nudge
>wait like 13 years for Dante to have his own levels again
>there's like 4 of them not counting the padding boss fight levels
>no Vergil
it has a higher skill ceiling. it is SIGNIFICANTLY harder compared to 5.
However, high-level Dante is borderline masochistic
Why the fuck did they stick to 20 missions for 3 playable characters, its pretty dumb.
Anyone got a good shot of the Vergil defeat screen where Vergil stands with his back turned to you?
Capcom also said they had no plans for DMC a couple years ago when DMC5 was already in production. They're not above lying to keep things underwraps. Matt said the team already moved on, yet we're still getting patches. Somebody is working on it. Possibly one of their B Teams so technically Matt may not be lying.
That's because there's an unreleased Epilogue.

So you never played it

Giga Drill Breaker is amazing
I didn't care for it. In fact, I downright hated it. Pointlessly fanservicey, too much DmC in my DMC, Dante has become a side character in his own franchise, Vergil no longer looks like Dante's twin, if it wasn't for the hair color he wouldn't even look like his brother, Dante and Nero have the same moves from 3 and 4 and adding more doesn't help the ones that I've been using for over 15 years feel any fresher, and I know everyone loves them but I think everyone is dressed awfully, there is nothing stylish about Dante's looks, nor Nero's, without the hair I wouldn't recognize Lady at all and Trish has a witch's nose and wet hair, which is not a good look.
I'll be sticking with 1 & 3 from now on.
>no co op.
Close. So close.
>tfw read this in Vergil's voice
fucking kek
Because at least this game is not trying to shove other playable characters down your throat. Also young Dante is best Dante even though i think the the 4 and 5 Dante are both pretty good
>DMC
>popular franchise
The entire franchise barely sold 2 million copies. How pathetic is that?
>471537882 (You)
Nah they're just talking a break, right now they are fucking around with despawning Shadow and Griffon on the D pad. Guard Fly Redirection is going well, and the main modder SSSiyan just released an auto attach CE so you don't have to click 50 buttons everytime you open the game. Give it a few months.
I still can't get over just how fucking good the gameplay is in DMC5, after playing it for months I have to say that even without turbo, this is easily the best DMC; and actually way better than DMC4 in the gameplay department.
The Devil Breakers for Nero are fucking genius, you can tell how Itsuno's approach with designing Nero is that he's supposed to be like a jazz player. He just goes with the flow and uses what is at hand, when you play Nero you're not supposed to think, just do what feels right at the time.
Dante in this game is also so fucking great, a lot of his changes are so many minor things that add up into a huge deal. Such as Honeycomb fire being an instant input, and Royal Guard eating DT instead of health. His weapon selection is also the best in the series. Every single melee weapon feels distinct and unique, but without being too overly gimmicky. The only weapon I don't really like is Dr. Faust.
V is the weakest link due to a limited moveset, but even then his playstyle is super unique and fun. I remember how Itsuno described him as a character where "offense and defense are split in two" and that really is so fucking true. I think people who simply view him as a ranged summoner character really are playing him wrong. You have to get in there and style with him, standing in the middle of battle doing taunts while your minions are attacking for you.
The enemy design is also by far the best in the series. They strike the perfect balance between being passive enough for being styled on, but still posing a threat in numbers. Almost every single gimmick enemy is great, stuff like having a foe that goes into super armor if he gets downed, having an enemy that goes berserk if you break its shackles etc makes you think about how each enemy compliment eachother in a fight. The only thing I don't like honestly is the constant teleporting of enemies like Judecca, it breaks the flow too much.
My only real complaint is that it feels slightly too floaty.
Thats because the game was made easier to play, so dropping combos is actually really hard. I for one welcome this as a starting player function, but about 200 hours in it starts to get boring.
Its true that DSD provides a lot of depth to moves, but the game is too limited in movement options (fast movement across the stage from air to ground vice versa), control over all directions while doing attacks from 4.
Why didn't Itsuno implement the mid-air counter attack from this fag?
>but the game is too limited in movement options (fast movement across the stage from air to ground vice versa)
I agree to an extent, but only if you discount the DLC weapons such as Cavaleire-R and Gerbera-GB01. Which I think offers some much needed extra mobility and locking them out of BP was really shitty.
Also I think Dante now having an air teleport and a ground teleport is an absolutely amazing change.
Still we lost a Hammer/Helm Break JC to send enemies to the ground, Rainstorm shooting below immediately to descend in combos efficiently.
CavR and GP01 is easily fixable with mods, its kinda cunty that they made us pay for it, and locked it out of BP. Reversals aside, there is a Pseudo Inertia in the game i.e. when you skystar and then air taunt with Dante, but its in all the wrong areas that provide no extra meaningful gameplay. Starting to feel like this is a DmC:DMC2 with a Mainline series skin.
>Starting to feel like this is a DmC:DMC2 with a Mainline series skin.
Absolutely not. DmC basically played like a different type of game because it had a way bigger focus on crowd control and attacking entire groups of enemies all at once like God of War, which is why it ditched lock-on. The biggest offender being the Aquila, which basically put rooms of enemies on complete lock-down and you had such a ridiculous amount of control of the situation.
This is highlighted by the fact that Rebellion and Ebony and Ivory, the two classic DMC weapons, are two of the absolute weakest weapons in the game. They mostly focus on attacking a single target, and they're sort of useless compared to your Angel/Demon arsenal. If you face a crowd of enemies you want to lock them down with Angel, and the occasional strong foes are dealt with using Demon. The whole game really feels designed around a single optimal solution, not just the colored enemies but all enemies.
>Starting to feel like this is a DmC:DMC2 with a Mainline series skin.
How can you even feel that? I would admit there are DmC influences but I don't think it feels much as a DmC sequel with a mainline "skin", than a DMC4 sequel with less bugs
Wow, DMC5 was that good of a game, huh?
I mentioned that Vergil got his cane back; The nightmares come with it. I thought mission 18 kinda confirmed that. The idea is that, by embracing his past, Vergil gives the nightmares new life as as friends rather than as allies upon which he begrudgingly relies. I also thought a gesture like this would complete Vergil's face turn, whereas people currently debate whether he should be held responsible for his actions. If people saw Vergil suffer more for his regrets, they might be more forgiving.
Thats not sekiro
Well, there was only one playable character when I played, so that argument is invalid, and yes, I know that relying on potions sucks, because that's the natural course of action when you have an auto-dodge that doesn't actually auto-dodge and the game doesn't challenge you to master the mechanics because healing items are cheap.
my negro
V is so shit that it drags the game down. I would agree if V wasn't in it and if the artstyle wasnt so bad.

This is one of the worst action games ever made though
and that's what maters most, you having fun
otherwise the game would be shit
Sam's boss fight is a joke. It's like a test case study on how to fuck up a boss fight you built up the entire game.
They gave him a good enough moveset and then fucked up his AI pattern by having him repeat the same linear moves throughout 90% of the fight. Like every single boss in he game he also has at least half the health he should have.
>REEE DMC CAN'T BE GOOD BECAUSE ENEMIES DO NOTHING
>NO THAT DOESN'T COUNT BECAUSE ME NO LIKEY
>where's the DMC esque combat in that casual pandering mess?
You just answered your own question. HON HON HON HON
Who knew so many puzzle and storyfags played dmc. You're supposed to play it for the gameplay you gaylords.
how come casuals don't like DMC then? in fact casuals never liked a single action game, and just call them all button mashers. who's fault was it that gave the genre this image? is it GoW?
DMC is definitely within the realm of normalfags as far as the name goes. That's a good question though and i don't know the answer other than their own stupidity. DMC1 was very big before GOW was ever a thing and can definitely mash your way through normal. Onimusha also sold really well even before DMC1 and you can also mash your way through it. Maybe it goes back even further than that to beat 'em ups, who knows.
>Watching some youtuber play NG for the first time
>Oh there's a combo list? Well i don't know if I'm gonna bother with that. I love these button mashing games where you press buttons and do cool stuff. You can just turn your brain off :D
>*4 chapters later*

>1 hour later
>Did it even make any difference
It's weird how action games seem to have lower female playerbase than fighting games.
>Chapter 3 will fix it you guys, just wait.
jej
imagine being capcom and seeing the success of MHW and not realising the potential for a dd2
>DMC is definitely within the realm of normalfags as far as the name goes
nah, I consider it between both territories, mostly because it started the "genre" or the idea of it
and DMC1 was a pretty though game too, even if most of it was mashing, it didn't feel mindless
I never played NG, but I did play NG2, and I would say besides how much bullshit it throws at you, it'll fit with in the "mindless button mashing" that normies would label
DMC5's story is unironically brainlet filter and the fact that so many people write off Dante and Vergil's fight at the end as "nonsense" shows how little they understand about how people actually work.
As we start getting older we start questioning the meaning of our lives, and often people turn to their youths as a way to cope with the world's indifference. The fight at the end of DMC5 is literally Dante and Vergil chasing purpose in their lives by chasing the past. That's why they're both kind of jokey and don't even seem to care that much.
>projecting
>Stand in the lava in WOW
>HOLY SHIT CHECK OUT THESE DEEP HIGH OCTANE COMBAT MECHANICS :O

It's amazing that such a simple story confuses the heck out of people. These people can't into subtle.
>It's amazing that such a simple story confuses the heck out of people. These people can't into subtle.
Especially when V says this in a exposition dump to Nero. He straight up says that Dante and Vergil fighting is how they deal with existentialism.
>Standing in AOE like a retard
>Enemy attack
ITT: People calling DMC1 "mashing" when two bosses have anti mash mechanics and likely never played above Normal
It's not mindless but you can 100% make it mindless. You must be forgetting that items exist in these games.
Vanilla NG2 is indeed the mashiest of NG games, but it can't even compare to DMC my dude.
Honestly, playing V is the only thing that pushes me off from that full S rank and platinum. He's shit.
>I-frame abuse: The Game
The endless dicksucking for Ninja Gaiden II is so fucking dumb.
I think it's pretty fucking hilarious that what was once something this fanbase mocked is now how they behave.
She's not shit, he's just boring. V is unronically the EASIEST character to get S Ranks with. You don't even need the Familiars to avoid damage because basic jumping gives you near limitless i-frames in DMC. Dante is by far the hardest character to get S Ranks with due to the game's fucking retarded scoring system that basically forces you to abuse Royal Guard.
>ITT: I'm a retard who can't read
>Enemy does move that's telegraphed means the move isn't an attack from the enemy
>Action game has i-frames
Woah Nelly! Let me just wrap my head around this concept...
that's not what he's complaining about retard
Yes, once in a while a potato will fall from the sack and you have to be careful not to slip on it. No one ever disputed that.
>Maybe it goes back even further than that to beat 'em ups, who knows.
Sure. With most beat 'em ups the difficulty comes from positioning and managing crowds more than combo complexity or even combo variety. There are exceptions to this, but you can definitely mash your way through them as far as the combos go.
>food analogy
I know what "he" is complaining about, but framing it in such a reductive way does not help "him" in any way, and the problem with NG2 is not the i-frames.
Also here's hoping "he's" not the brainlet that only played up to chapter 3 on normal mode.
>bayo over dmc
I've already been waiting fucking months. My devil breaker switcher mod and many others are for the no denuvo exe version.
but some of these other idiot modders are making mods for the denuvo version. so all the mods are scattered & If I was dumb enough to buy the denuvo version capcom would just release another pointless update and break all my mods again. like what's been happening this whole time.
>oh you were working on a Boss select mod? (that should have been in the base game).
>well the exe's completely different now. fuck you. all your work is wasted.
So fuck this shitty game. it's a clusterfuck. I'm done with waiting for us all to fix capcoms shitty design. they should have included these commonsense options for players who wanted more depth & control in the first place anyway.
William Shakespeare was not pretentious at all, makes quite a bit of low-brow jokes.
It was a pretty good analogy, admit it.
4 was better
>I know what "he" is complaining about, but framing it in such a reductive way does not help "him" in any way,
This, DMC enemies are just punching bags but Ninja Gaiden is flawless.
no it wasn't
the potato sack dropping potatoes is your fault with no outside force, while an enemy attack is made from (as you guessed) an outside force that you must avoid
Nah, it just poorly rewritten mess. It's not that deep
impeccable taste
I know you nuDMCfags can't understand this but people have opinions. And let's be honest, you're probably awful at Bayonetta anyway.
This is really more a problem with Denuvo, this is what fucking happens when you put that level of data encryption on a fucking single player game for no goddamn reason, it obscures everything and makes modding a goddamn nightmare.
>no outside force
>what is gravity
>what is friction
>what is biodegradation
Thanks for playing user
>"he"
are you trying to say he's a girl, or are you saying I'm him? because there's really no reason for me to pretend to be someone else.
and the problem in NG 2 is how much bullshit it throws at you and how the camera can fuck you over among many things, forcing you to just abuse the i-frames to make things bearable, the problem is n't the i-frames as you said as you said
Idea for an action game enemy: it's literally incapable of attacking and can be juggled freely, but as it takes damage, it begins dropping explosive mines as part of the gibs knocked off of it.
>story is bad because im a brainlet
no one saying its deep kid
>laws of physics are now outside forces
that's not how it works user
Her tiddies are bouncing on their own.
so a walking bomb bag that you should shoot from a far...
Ultimately most enemy attacks in games like DMC are a response to player behaviors anyway; there's probably some small element of randomization but it's not like the enemies have a large arsenal of moves and free will to use them, they run timer checks and at the end of those timer checks they perform one of a few specific actions based on where the player is relative to them.
In a certain sense almost all action game enemies are fancier versions of those Kung Fu training columns where you strike one pole and it causes another to swing around at you.
the in game graphics are so fucking bad.
the lighting always terrible and the characters faces always look like they were posed by a 12 year old using source film maker.
Kind of? But shooting is a bad approach, because of the low DPS. The idea is more that the longer you juggle the enemy, the more the arena gets littered with obstacles that have to be avoided. You can drop the combo and let the enemy bump into a mine (or knock him into one) which would probably Every Extend the whole field up and clear it, so the longer you juggle the more of a clusterfuck the ground and walls become.
>being a graphicsfag with action games
they put a photo mode in to subject us to this awful looking shit. they talked up the graphics yet they're far worse than DMC4 which still looks good today.
Literal meme game
>laws of physics are now outside forces
Uh, yeah? I know it's a DMC thread but i hope I'm not about to get into a debate on whether or not gravity, the properties of matter and biology is outside one's control.
The player is moving her tiddies with the controller's motion sensors. NG has deep mechanics in all aspects, even waifus. How can anyone even question it's status as the best action games?
>they're far worse than DMC4 which still looks good today.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
its pretty clear you're completely unreasonable when discussing devil may cry so why are you still here? what sort of meaningful point where you trying to make by calling dmc 5 ugly? do you even like anything about the game?
Optimal postgame Nero is actually tiring to play
He’s literally the worst,
>Uh, yeah? I know it's a DMC thread
This isn't a DMC thread, just an action games thread. but my point is the laws of physics are not in you're control and are forced upon you at all times making them irrelevant to count, compared to attacks from an "outside force" may it be man, demon, or plant
that's not even what I was arguing about really, how the fuck did we reach such a stupid point
the expressions look ass in both games. but at least in dmc4 the neutral faces look good.
they don't
>being a graphicsfag with action games
yes? Action games, like fightans are literally obligated to have high graphical fidelity and they always have. Not exactly in the same way as AAA movie game shit but detailed character models, textures and animations in particular are to be expected from action games.
The point is a potato falling from a potato sack on it's own is the result of outside forces.
It's cool user, thread was on it's way to the archive 40 minutes ago anyway. What ever keeps it floating
that's him doing sword master expression. not neutral.
nah, pic related is swordmaster
>yes? Action games, like fightans are literally obligated to have high graphical fidelity and they always have
the textures look bad on the enemies of your pic, and the tiers of importance goes like this
animations > performance > combat > graphics > >>>> story
Reminder if you haven't beaten every DMC on DMD, every Bayonetta game on Infinite Climax, every Ninja Gaiden game on Master Ninja, and God Hand on God Hard your opinion about these franchises mean absolutely nothing.
4dante makes me feel things
No, that was a food analogy about how an AOE attack from an enemy doesn't count as an attack because reasons lol
>bringing up combat and story when discussing graphics
That's a previous gen title, if you compare it to what ever else came out in the same gen and genre you will find that it's actually really impressive, especially in motion which is what matters. Like i said, it does not have the same priorities as slow games, the textures only need to be detailed enough to read clearly and show detail, not sell the game based on the bump mapping. It's an art style thing more than just rendering high resolution textures, RE5 is another game that is impressive in that regard. Resolution aside RE actually looks very impressive in motion and it still gives current gen games a run for their money in my opinion
I was being facetious, the same way, I'm sure, that the original post was being facetious about that webm being an accurate representation of the average DMC4 experience :^)
>every
Don't be silly. Also beating the games doesn't really mean anything. There's plenty of videos of people beating these games on the highest difficulties while being objectively both shit at and ignorant about them.
Man we really have nothing to say about these things anymore. Dead genre is dead.
>beating the games doesn't really mean anything
If you're able to beat most of these games on their highest difficulty while attaining high ranks that means you objectively have a better understanding of the game than people who do not
Not even turbo
Dark Souls killed action games by turning all discussions about how you're having fun into difficulty-slider dick waving contests.
DMC5 was afflicted by this too, thanks to Sekiro.
You can be in the process of climbing the difficulty ladder and already know more and be better than someone who used the lowest common denominator strategy to beat the highest difficulty once some years ago.
Most ironic part about all that is Dark Souls isn't fucking hard if you played any of these games during 6th gen. No game with i-frames as generous as the Souls games with such slow enemies can be considered "hard" in my opinion. It was a phenomena of millions upon millions of newfags looking for gamer """""cred"""". The games are punishing, sure, but I would not call them difficult.
>Dark Souls isn't har-
You sure typed a whole lot of nothing there my friend.
Even without abusing stats like that, the i-frames on the rolls in the Souls games is absolutely absurd. That is what fundamentally makes them easy, the default roll is so fucking overpowered and enemies are not equipped to counter act it. They sort of solved this in later entries by giving enemies delayed attacks, but eventually you catch on because nearly every enemy and boss has one.
Did i touch a nerve or something friendo?
at least stats CAN be abused in DS1. 2 and 3 decided to get super anal-retentive about that, especially 3 trying to dumb shit down so hard that there's no such thing as proper tank builds
>It was a phenomena of millions upon millions of newfags looking for gamer """""cred""""
It was100% that. It came at the exact time video games achieve normie tier and it was also spurred on by the retarded media. I never once looked at Demon Souls as le hurd gaem, i thought the strength of the games was being able to create different characters archetypes in an action setting instead of a traditional RPG. it just reminded me of Enclave.
So in your made up scenario someone 'climbing' the difficulty ladder would not look up ANY strategies at all, while also assuming someone who beat the games on their hardest difficulties could not without looking up strategies?
Your made up scenario makes no sense.
Vergil did not command the tree to kill the town. He merely took advantage of the situation. The tree is on a 1000 year growth cycle and therefore acted on its own.
Miyazak himself even said that 'difficulty' was never the point in these games. Sekiro is probably the only exception to that.
Urizen used the Yamato to cut open a portal so the tree could get into the human world.
Uh, that shit literally happens sweetie. You're the one making up a scenario for no reason.
You can look up footage of literal retards beating these games on the higher difficulties without having a slightest clue of what they are doing.
I recently beat Onimusha 1-3 and i did not look up any "guides" until after i was done. Though, what does guides have to do with anything? Anyway, i was no expert but I'd like to think that i had a better idea of what was going on and what i was doing than a kid that brute forced the games 2 decades ago when they released.
Isn't it? I'm pretty sure part of the appeal of the cane is that its nature is vague and mysterious. It was clearly doing something in mission 17, and it glows and teleports and shit.
Unironically agreed.

Real DMC fans were disappointed by the shit music, V, forgettable bosses and fanfic tier story
Soon brother, patch 1.08 hit yesterday and he STILL has the new moveset.
Patch 1.08 came out yesterday and Vergil behaves a little different. Aside from that I think user is talking out of his ass.
I have already replayed the game twice to get the shura ending, and will be replaying it again simply because I love the gameplay.
>They strike the perfect balance between being passive enough for being styled on, but still posing a threat in numbers
There is no balance. There isn't a single enemy in DMC5 that poses any semblance of threat.

>DelusionaryKiller more like DelusionaryKike for implying that you can't rainstorm cancel into Royal Guard blocks (you can, try it on cavaliere angelo)
they're a bunch of autistic faggots who want to continue to play a 11 year old game for 'tech'. I say this as someone who played DMC4 every day from 2008 to DMC5 release date and have the fucked up finger joints to show for it.
Furies.
what did user mean by this
As someone who platted the game four days after release, I agree with this. Hell and Hell is the perfect way to play and train you to be stylish.
This is one of my biggest issues with the game. It's not made clear if Yamato can open portals between worlds or within the same world. It's been shown to open portals within the same world by itself, but to open a portal between worlds, it's been shown to require an apparatus such as the hellgate. If Yamato allows travel between worlds on its own, then why all the drama about Vergil being trapped in hell and "you won't be able to get back" if the Yamato let's him leave whenever he wants?
Why does Vergil close the portal from inside hell? Is the means to operate the portal in hell? If so, how did Urizen open the portal when he was on earth? Did he use the Yamato to go to hell? If so, then he already has the ability to open up hell without going to hell. If the means to operate the portal is on earth, then why did Vergil go to hell? Is there a way to open the portal on earth but it can only be closed from hell? How? Why? When is this established?
Why do so many dmc games revolve around opening up a portal when it seems like demons come and go as they please? Mallet Island, Vie de Marlii, Temen ni Gru, and Fortuna were all filled with demons before any portals were opened.
these guys kept pissing and moaning even after OTHER MODDERS put that stuff in 5 and have all just regressed to "i just dont like how it feels"
which is a totally fine opinion to have but it makes all their bullshitting about 5 a lot harder to stomach
>got the BP achievements before BP was out
Put it under DMC3 but above Bayo. I forget it exists not because it's bad but because the activision niggers removed it from my PS4 library and I can't get it back.
The day DMC5 came out and everyone was having fun, Chaser unironically played up to Mission 2 and said DMC5 was the worst in the series because he couldn't do a reversal anymore. They're retarded niggers user.
>I mean, even normalfags who played it liked it, even though they couldn't get past the first stage.
Bought it on release, beat the first stage after several attempts and returned it. It's a reminder that combat mechanics alone good not make an action game good.
user...you can platinum games on PS4 just with the vanilla trophy list. You can plat DMC5 without even touching BP, and that's what I did.
I then 100%'d BP's list three days into its release, mainly because I died to Cerb as V and was unironically seething.
>removed it from my PS4 library
wait, what? I know it was delisted but you should still be able to keep it if you already own it. It's still in my Steam library.
Doesn't show up on my download list sadly. Dunno why, I know others say it shows up for them but not for me.
Did you get it as a part of that PS-now or PS-plus or whatever thing where you get free games as long as you're subscribed?
>PS4
ah got you
the steam version had the BP achievements from the get-go, but thats impressive man it took me like 80 hours to platinum it
Thanks user, I waited ten years for a sequel so I stayed up 36 hours on release day, pizza and pepsi max by my side and only taking breaks for the bathroom. That got me through the way to SoS. Then over the next two days after I slept for an eternity I did DMD and H&H. My last trophy was for killing 7 enemies in 1 second or whatever it was, got it in the credits using Dante's Sin DT.
Admit it, when this started playing after Dante flew to confront Urizen, you knew it was worth waiting ten years for this masterpiece.
youtube.com
My only problem was the level design. It was boring and a waste of this incredibly beautiful engine.
Some places looked good, but there could have been so much more. It needed more colour, more vegetation, more water, more sand, ruins and stuff. Make me travel, make me wonder.
The lighting is so tight it would have been gorgeous.
>can't attack from off screen
>Dear Player. Stop. I would very much like to inform you that an attack is incoming. Stop. Please observe the necessary precautions. Stop. See you in a flash. Stop. Winky face. Stop. You're enemy. Stop. Fury. Full Stop.
>The enemy encounters and AI when they show up effectively make it a 1v1 no matter what.
Nah. Frosty bois where unironically more dangerous than them. It looks cool though, like a lot of things in DMC it does a good job of hyping itself up.
>It needed more colour, more vegetation, more water, more sand, ruins and stuff. Make me travel, make me wonder.
I think that has more to do with environmental aesthetics than level design proper. Actual level design is a problem the game has too, though.
The problem with that assessment is that furies like to feint their own telegraphs, which is what makes them dangerous
>vanish
>appear above you
>lunge in
>you RG/swing to parry
>Fury vanishes mid lunge
>reappears again for an actual lunge
>you are still in recovery animation
The game has a cadence that only furies and one Antenora attack breaks; almost everything else has a predictable rhythm between “attack starting” and “hitbox appears”, Furies fuck with that and fuck with your timing as a result.
>tfw can't kill myself now 5 is out because the ending implies we'll see Dante again
for fuck sake itsunooooooooo
>The enemy encounters and AI when they show up effectively make it a 1v1 no matter what.
Did you only play it on SoS? On DMD every section with them has 3-4 furies.
>ITT people who didn't play V on DMD/H&H so they hate him
V on the last two difficulties is unironically great.
This. I cannot die unless we get playable Vergil.
Except you can tell when Furies will actually attack you because they have very clear and defined patterns before the disappear. Depending on the stance a Fury takes before disappearing you can accurately predict when they will appear and attack.
user im not sure how to tell you this but literally every enemy ever invented can be accurately predicted
Well you barely leave Redgrave city during the game, so the lack of diversity in design is understandable. But if they ever make Dante's Inferno game which takes place in Hell they'd better give their best.
They don't feint anything, They have a set pattern that is telegraphed by their first move after the first teleport, then they do the corresponding pattern to that move and it's always the same. All you have to do is identify the telegraph.
Show me a video of DMC5 enemies stacking their attacks on top of each other like other action games do. And don't be a smart ass and post Angelo and Scudo formation attack.
So what's really the difference between all the difficulty? is it just harder and harder?
I'm aware of that, but it's a different kind of focus that's required. You can't simply respond to "enemy is doing something" with a defensive maneuver, you have to pay specific attention to what the enemy is doing to telegraph. That's unique for Furies in the game, everything else basically as soon as you see the enemy getting ready to make contact with you, you react.
>user im not sure how to tell you this but literally every enemy ever invented can be accurately predicted
I'm not sure how to tell YOU this but that's not true
maybe you should try playing the game
do you really think they take turns standing around and attacking you one by one? just something like the 3 fury BP stage is notorious for pushing your shit in
unless team ninja invented artificial intelligence then im sorry to say those are ultimately predictable even if obscured by aggression and fast movement. how do you think someone gets good at ninja gaiden exactly? that they become enlightened and reach a new state of being and unlock 0.1 second reaction times?
>unless team ninja invented artificial intelligence then im sorry to say those are ultimately predictable
You know RNG is a thing too, right?
The enemies don't have to actually plan or strategize, they just need to do things randomly.
You can open up enemies using shurikens or wind path. It's not like you are waiting for the enemy to come at you, and I don't think that predicting is a good strategy. As long as the enemy has a varied move set, you are just guessing which is not very reliable.
Asking the real questions.
Hell & Hell you would think makes you conservative and careful, but that's not what happens. If you do that, or abuse faust hat, you're not going to succeed or you're just gonna cheap it. If you want to thrive in H&H, you need to be nonstop offensive, and I'm talking to achieve the S rank without a hit. You cannot slow down and you need to know every enemy attack in advance. V and Nero made this much harder, Dante I had the easiest time dodging with because I've been familiar with Dante all my gaming life, but even with him I had to remain constantly offensive and outsmart my foes. You cannot go on the defensive even once or you will be fucked.
Ok, I don't consider myself to be a good player, I've finished my DMD but I still haven't gotten all the S ranks so feel free to treat me like a babby.
I really don't see how reversals and guard flying add anything meaningful to the gameplay, I'll give you inertia but it still isn't anywhere close to essential. Most of the time people use them it's to fill dead time. I mean it's impressive mechanically that you are able to pull that off but come on.
It's like the people who would play an unfinished game for a decade+ couldn't be pleased no matter what.
As someone who's a lot better than you at DMC (and i don't say that to be condescending, you said you're not good yourself), I agree with you. Reversals were fun but not imperative, guard flight was flashy but tedious to pull off without much reward. Inertia I did like, but Distortion is still in and THAT is my favorite of all the DMC mechanics anyway. DMC5 is the best in the series, they just built their audiences on DMC4 and are uncomfortable with change. Stylefags unironically should die.
>patch 1.08 hit yesterday
>released June 7
user...
>Distortion is still in
Is it?
Mhm. Use DT right as real impact connects on urizen or a fury, it'll one shot the latter and really fuck Urizen.
There’s an elegance to Hell and Hell that is also found in Bayo’s Alfheims (where you just get 3 HP orbs) that makes me wonder why more action games don’t do away with the idea of the “health bar” and just give you 3-5 hits before you lose.
>i hadn't played DMC5 since June 7th
fuck I really should use my PS4 more...
its hard to talk about essentials in dmc since you can go through the entire game without using many of the moves some would consider necessary, like are guns really mechanically essential? DMC is such a well made system that you can really just keep stacking mechanics on mechanics and it doesn't affect the gameplay much at all. The most damaging thing in DMC 5 is probably Faust since it trivializes content if you have enough to spend and gives Barry a webm to spam but even then who cares? Use it or don't, DMC is a game where you use what you want to use. So on one hand I do feel for those who miss those advanced techniques since it ultimately just adds more for those who want to use them but it really is just a case of having a hard time letting go of a game you've played for many many years
You have fantastic taste, user. I agree.
I'll have to check on that because distortion was my favorite thing about dmc4 and I swear it didn't work in 5.
>how do you think someone gets good at ninja gaiden exactly
Actively defending is big part of ninja Gaiden, often you are reacting to the followups and not the initial attack itself. Show me the telegraph in those attacks. The telegraoh is the enemy coming towards you and the windup of the attack itself, not a huge "oh boy, here i go attacking again" animation. NG legitimately has unseeable attacks, your only recourse is to either take it or avoid putting yourself in the situation where those attacks can happen.
Partially correct. Thins like that webm are a mixture of random and standard reactions to certain behavior. The cat didn't combo him mid air from the other enemy because it's programmed to do so, it did it because that move is a one of their standard response behaviors to an airborne or unprotected target from their running state.
Okay you haven't played the game on DMD I thought so.
It's not as bullshit as it was in 4 (take out 60% of Berial's health in 1 hit) but the damage boost is there. I think that the window is also more lenient but I couldn't be wrong.
Fuck i messed up the phrasing on that badly, but i think it's still legible.
I had considered that enemies that could “combo” you or do other attacks of that kind might be super unfair... but I also feel like you could combine the orb system with something a bit like how shooter HP works. Taking “minor” damage in succession cracks or heats up the Hit Point, until it reaches a breaking point and you take real damage. If you get caught in the start of a combo and manage to escape, you can avoid losing the hitpoint if you stay damage-free until it cools back off. But any Standard Enemy Attack is just a 1HP attack, and you have a fixed number of those you can take before you die.
>greatest action game of all time
Don't talk to me unless you have anything to say junior
If I were to implement what you're talking about, i would tie the style system directly to your health. The moment you slow down or play like shit, you die. Hits would tank your style more than anything else, thus killing you faster. Journos would bitch and moan though, so that'd never happen.
Took me 11 fucking hours to comeplete on stream.
That’s a bad idea, for snowball reasons. Honestly the best approaches to “integrated style” are either what TFD does (you get buffs to your attacks that let you do things like special follow-ups, shorter charges on attacks, etc) or, probably the best take, DmC’s Must Style Mode.
Must Style is super elegant, because it has the effect of encouraging the maintenance of high style for survivability reasons, but also makes gaining style easier from the bottom because enemies don’t die UNTIL you’ve got the meter up.
Die tripfag die die die.
The correct answer is the writing is shit and you're not supposed to think to hard about it.
>another DMC3 nostalgiafag that actually thinks DMC3 is better than DMC5
Fucking laughable. Muh story....muh motivated memes...
Are...are you retarded? My list has DMC5 above DMC3 you absolute retard.
I think he thinks you were talking about DMC5 in that post, not TFD.
Right now my Top 5 is
>Wonderful 101
>NG Black/Sigma
>DMC5
>TF Devastation
>Aztez or DMC3SE or God Hand
I need more time in Aztez to know for certain but my 10 hours so far say that it's worthy of mention among the greats. The game has everything I want out of an action game and a good bit more.
well yeah NG has some of the best combat of all time, no one is or should be disputing that. But it does require certain memorization of how enemies behave and either way comparing it to DMC as a way to show that DMC enemies are punching bags is sort of like using the rolling stones to say that the beatles isn't rock
Aztez is one of the most criminally underrated action games of all time. I would put Assault Spy alongside it but Assault Spy really suffers outside of the raw combat, whereas Aztez would be a compelling game even if it weren’t stylish as fuck.
One of the best pick-up-and-play “session” games ever.
DMC3 has a better story and theme, but gameplay wise 5 comes out on top. Best fun i've had in years.
Speaking of unknown games. I've never seen anyone mention it but Rain Blood Mirage Chronicles was pretty neat.
Shill it harder. The only reason Yea Forums likes TFD and is starting to like Aztez is that me and a few others refused to shut the fuck up about how great they were, over and over until it became a “normal” opinion.
I haven't yet played Assault Spy but I do dig its "DMC but full anime instead of halfway there" mechanics from a glance, and I like the character designs a lot (reminds me of Danganronpa's a little).
I thought the main Campaign mode in Aztez would just be filler for me but damn did I find it compelling once I got deep into it, keeping track of cities' populations and what expansions I should make. Then Cortez shows up and completely breaks the Turn-based pacing which makes him a problem IMMEDIATELY. Beating 6 Conquistadors by using Fists' dash to bob and weave through bullets and getting one of their Rifles as an entire weapon type was incredible. Pic is my stats for my 2nd attempt at Campaign; shortly after getting the Rifle I got my ass blown out by a combo of Conquistadors and conquered Aztec warriors.
I guess I don't care enough to shill it. But fair enough. I may give Aztez a try. I like 2d shit. Valdis Story is pretty damn good combat for a metroidvania as well.
Let's be real the only hope NG-fags have is that there actually never will be sequels or remasters for newer consoles otherwise everyone would actually see how utter shit these games are.
They need the obscurity of the game to continue.
How else could they shitpost and samefag with the same stolen webms that aren't depicting themselves playing? How else could they claim superior? How else could try to come with an argument that doesn't boil down to git gud like all the shit fanbases do?
They can't even sustain a single thread of them discussing these games. They NEED to try start dissent in threads about good action games or there will be no discussion.
Truly I only feel pity for them. You can't even get mad at them because they are such an insane minority it's hard to even notice them sometimes.
I bet half the pro-NG shitposters that poo on other games barely care and want to be elitists. That said, NG Black/Sigma is one of the best action games out there in terms of mechanics and overall game quality, and NG2 improves on the combat even if things around it suffer compared to the original. I don't need to shit on other great games to say that.
Have you actually BEATEN Cortez yet?
I was gonna post my Top 15 leaderboard score but I've been ousted to the mid 30s... I guess new players are finally showing up.
The thing about the board game is, it has so many hidden rules and strategies that the game doesn't explain to you. For example, the rules that govern your first additional conscript should dictate the way you spend all your money in the first turns, and the way map illumination prevents Rebellion outbreaks dictates the way you should expand your territories.
Of course you need to memorize things. The first thing you need to do to get good at NG is know the enemy moveset, but that's all action games.
I don't know user, the more games i play, the more i see a divide between DMC and the rest of the genre. It's a slope for sure but i feel like it ends in a crevice and then there's DMC on the other side. I don't even know if NG has the most aggressive enemies either. Onimusha 3 surprised me with how aggressive the enemies are. A dark realm floor with claw ninjas is a hellscape of unseeable attacks coming literally every .5 seconds. I don't think Oni 3 has the mechanics to make it work as well though.
This is what an HD Collection zoomer looks like. I legitimately threw up in my mouth reading this.
>Beowulf over Ifrit
Nah B, Beowful sounds like you're hitting someone with a fucking tambourine. More utility for much less power. Once you get a handle on Ifrit's timing it feels like a nuke you whip out when you want something dead, not to mention thanks to rumble and slight screen shake you can actually feel Ifrit's power. Fact that Ifrit is even in mid tells me you never actually played with it and likely never played DMC1 on anything above Normal like 99% of the "fan"base.
No, that was only my second attempt, and my first one I just got fucked up before the Spanish arrived since I didn't really know much about how either gameplay style worked. I definitely need to practice against the boss-tier enemy types; the Legendary Eagle forced me on the defensive way too often.
yeah i think its a divide too but its not necessarily negative
just think about how many games that does the standard NG / platinum approach to action games but no other game plays like DMC. its going down its own path unapologetically and those that want more traditional action games have plenty other games to choose from but if you want DMC there's only DMC
Hello eternally buttblasted DMC sperg. How is your agape anal cavity doing today? Drafty? Here's some purple pie to choke on, i know it's your favorite.
He is.
The first good "slow but powerful" weapon in the game is better than A&R reskin. Even Ifrit is better than A&R reskin despite being a gimmick weapon.
I feel that 4 has the worst gauntlets for awkward controls.
>US VS THEM
>brings up DMC (?)
>ragin shitpost
>projecting his frustration onto others
Oof fucking NGlets man. You have my sympathy.
>look up videos
>it's some newgrounds flash game tier shit
Are you taking the piss with this user?
You mean "the best gauntlets".
>them
Just you specifically sperg.
Absolutely fucking not better than 5 tryhard
According to the manga it isn't, It was found in a random shop. All that is Vergil's power channeled through it.
Not at all. It's an indie game but the visual style makes up for the simple models and then some. The combat has a ton of options for movement, defense, and combos like DMC, with enemy aggression, blocking, and wall interactions that remind me of NG (at least once the difficulty ramps up; it eases you into it unless you use the item that explicitly raises the difficulty of the Campaign from Turn 1). You're encouraged to switch between weapons mid-combo and after parries, you have to make decisions on if you're going to keep comboing an enemy for score or to let them down so you can Sacrifice them for blood and the bonus that gives (if you have the breathing room to do the animation). Each weapon is completely unique and they all feel great to use. Taking a Rifle from the Spanish felt amazing; a single gunshot rightfully hits like a truck in a game about 15th Century Mexico.
>just you - that's why I instantly brought up DMC as a whole for no apparent reason when faced with some harsh truths
>sperg meaning autism
>look up symptoms
>they all fit NG posters
NG is one helluva drug
>Thread going fine
>One giant faggot comes home from the horse semen farm
>brought up DMC as a whole
No i didn't. I said:
>Eternally Buttblasted DMC sperg
That's you. That's your name, echo butt.
I understand what a jump cancel is and it’s easy to do, but I’m having trouble understanding how to mix it properly into my play. Does anyone have any tips? Maybe some basic exercises/combos to practice with?
Sorry, I can't follow your schizophrenia.
I'd ask you to be concise and reasonable but NGlets are born to shitpost and nothing else, so I really can't fault your pitiful ways.
Vergil and Dante getting stuck was a mistranslation. Vergil can travel through worlds like balrog dod when he had that piece stuck in him.
The qliphoth tree is in hell so after the split urizen needed to go there and he must have left some portal open or something, the tree is the one who wanted to spread to the human world to gain blood.
>random cane
When Itagaki told Kamiya his games were shallow, Kamiya came up with dodge offset and made bayonetta, which also has amazing enemy design to go along with dodge offset.
Meanwhile, Itsuno said in an interview he never played bayonetta. No wonder dmc5 hasn't changed much since 4/3.
You use Jump Cancels to negate the recovery frames of a move that you would otherwise have to wait for, and to help keep an enemy in place, as you can attack immediately after your JC to negate knocking them too far away (if you're Dante; Nero & V don't care as much).
For a simple practice, have Ebony & Ivory out, go into Gunslinger, and try to JC Rainstorm over and over off of an enemy, then switch to something faster like Kick Balrog's divekick or V's Cane and try to JC it over and over again. Another good thing to practice is JC Calibur with Nero (the horizontal air slash), since you generally don't have much time to combo afterwards without a JC.
>implying dmc fans are not a minority
More people are playing Sekiro than DMC5.
V's missions make me want to stop fucking playing.
Are you done, Anal Trench?
the fighting animation is absolutely amazing.
fromsoft has mastered spectacle in gaming
Where is he implying that? And the whole genre is a minority, plus Sekiro is a Souls game that normies play
Why are you responding to me if you are just angrily projecting your self-hatred onto me?
I will never get over how awkward the facial expressions and deliveries are in this game.
but enemies do way more than in many other games.
Right here
>they are such an insane minority
Also, Sekiro is an action game. I never liked Souls games, and I loved Sekiro.
Don't forget the audible changes in mic quality
this:
That's hot though.
This too. Nico trying to be nonchalant about how wet Lady makes her was cute.
He's right though, NG is a minority within a minority, that's why he said insane minority....
As far as the sales go, it's not a big difference. Maybe people who prefer NG are a minority on Yea Forums. I wonder if more people had ps3 and not 360 here, and ps3 was absolute ass as far as action games go.
