Game punishes you for healing

>game punishes you for healing
Well whats the point of letting me heal if most bosses have a specific move to counter me healing? Doesn't it artificially inflate the difficulty if i'm not allowed to heal because the game devs had to think of a way to counter me healing?

>artifical difficulty
just fuck off already

What the fuck are you talking about I heal constantly. Learn to pick your time better and read your opponent or create some space between them and yourself. Stop wanting shit to be easier.

losing hp and having to heal is the punishment for getting hit.

no they dont. you just have to heal when the boss is locked in some stupid animation

A game can be hard without punishing you for it's mechanics user. Artificial difficulty comes from the devs not knowing how to handle certain features, so they make enemies or bosses specifically counter those features to make the game feel harder.
A good way to see if the difficulty is artificial is by asking yourself, does the game truly get any easier if that feature is removed? Is the answer is no, then the difficulty is artificial.

can you give me 3 examples of bosses punishing you for healing that don't include you being a fucking retard?

Agreed, there should be no healing at all mid combat.

Heal on enemy whiff you donkey. Doesn't matter if they have anti-chugging AI if they are stuck in recovery animation

yeah maybe you've just artifically inflated your body by eating too much you fat fucking loser
shut the fuck up

Because there were no bosses that blocked healing in the souls series. Seriously, Gael should have thrown Lyod talismens.

Git Gud scrub

This is your brain on zoomerism

Dude what the fuck are you talking about? There is no such thing and you are just awful at choosing a proper time to heal.

Attached: 1488646845927.jpg (217x286, 36K)

Genichiros Jump Thrust, The Great Apes Pound, Owls Jumping Attack.
Each only activate upon you healing.

To make you have to think about when to heal. If your healing was always guaranteed, they might as well just remove all healing items and give you a shitload of HP since that's what you're carrying around. But that's not as fun or challenging.

Wrong those activate during fights as well and aren’t done every time you heal. Don’t tell lies, my sweet child.

Get good you fucking retard. It's an action game, do you want the bosses to just stand around while you chug estus in front of them? Look for an opening the same way you would for landing a hit, then perform the action that leaves you vulnerable

all of them only activate after idle animations.
maybe find a better time to heal instead of directly after the boss being idle for several moments

this

tomoe genichiro gives you a free mikiri if you heal that's like the opposite of punish

Whats the point of limiting Estus then? If the entire thing is "waiting for an opening" then they should give you unlimited Estus,
Since they don't give you Unlimited Estus and the Bosses counter you if you heal, my point still stands about artificial difficulty.
The devs literally couldn't think of a way to let the player heal so they added 2 different counters to make the game harder then it would be.

>Whats the point of limiting Estus then?
to prevent morons from literally never dying to a boss or enemies in game
hows the limitation on estus related to finding openings for when you use them? you'll always find an opening to use them and an unlimited estus user will make you nigh unkillable.
I bet you would still find a way to get your shit kicked in and complain.

>Whats the point of limiting Estus then?
To encourage you to not get hit when traversing new areas, and so that you can't just make a million mistakes in a row in boss fights.

This game is too hard. I got stuck at the gorilla boss at the week of release and havent played since

go what a guide like always zoomer

what counters are you fucking talking about? there isnt a single boss in sekiro that will "counter" you when you're healing. They're just attacking you normally while you're leaving yourself completely open like a troglodyte.

>replying to a tripfag
you might be even dumber

NOT DARK SOULs

Holy shit this game is thw worst glitchiest shit it won't let me kill the golem thing in wooden cuffs thing

You retard, you are supposed to ignore them.

10/10
You got me. You fucking got me. Now go back.

Sekiro is tedious and not that great of a game, as someone who's favorite games of the last decade are Soulsborne, but it definitely allows you to heal. Git gud, retard. The issue with Sekiro is that the game relies on tedium of trying to learn each individual moveset, one after another, in a gauntlet setting. It's monotonous and exhausting, doesn't reward a player who can git gud. Just a shitty rhythm game, with 50 different songs you play once and can't repeat once you beat it

I actually use heal to bait out the boss' gapcloser since it leaves them open for a whack or two

youtube.com/watch?v=Xr9Oubxw1gA

stay mad scrub

The worst shit about Sekiro it theres no "skip to fight" option with bosses, so you have to go through like 3 individual loading screens just to get to a boss, to die within 30 seconds then do it all over again.
Shit's boring yo

You're fucking bad.

Not lies fag, those moves activate when you heal. Don't even @ me if you haven't tested it yourself.

>game rewards you for spamming parry
dumb game

just...don't die?

>Just a shitty rhythm game, with 50 different songs you play once and can't repeat once you beat it
That's... an incredibly accurate way of explaining Sekiro, actually.

Just get NVME holy shit I don't even remember a loading screen.

Just distance yourself. Do you think healing in a bosses face is intended? You can heal against any boss easily if you're not a complete retard.

Are you a fucking journo mate? Coz I fucking hate journo fucks like you.

>reading the stats wrong
nice job newfag

Not if you’re actually good. His complaints are you have to memorize shit to defeat them. Real masters of the game wouldn’t say that because they know that they can just twitch reflex deflect anything in the game because they understand the mechanics.

He is just a scrub and so are you.

I love these Sekiro threads because Fromsoft Fags get baited so easily and seethe for days.

Cope more Soulsbrony. Sekiro will never ever be a Souls game and that’s why it’s the best.

Nah I'm a Fromfag and Sekiro isn't very good. It's just an inferior, less stylistic Furi that basically tried to be Samurai Souls right after Team Ninja copied From and just made Samurai Souls. Sekiro has no real place to exist. Shit game. Fun for one playthrough. Ape is kino.

>A game can be hard without punishing you for it's mechanics user.
I agree games like Sekiro can exist I'm sorry you and all the other games journotrannies aren't good enough to enjoy it.

>Whats the point of limiting Estus then?
Because if you play like shit you should die. This thing you call "artificial difficulty" - the rest of the world just calls it difficulty. There is no "artificial difficulty", it's a video game, the entire thing is artificial, you are just not good enough.

You can either git gud, which is the entire point of the game, to the point where the narrative even revolves around Sekiro's development as a fighter, or you can uninstall and write another Kotaku article claiming the game isn't accessible enough for retards and invalids such as yourself.

>Sekiro isn't very good
Sound less like a FromFag and more like a fucking journo mate.

>Sekiro's development as a fighter
owl even remarks on this

A Fromfag is just a Soulsbrony by another name. Sekiro is not a souls game and Soulsbronies HATE that. Even Moreno because Sekiro is better than Soulsbornes.

Got the fucker!! took me 5 hours, not as fun as the ape or corrupted monk but fuck me that felt good

Attached: 135123161.png (840x719, 792K)

All of those are avoidable, especially Genichiro and Owl. Even after healing you can side dodge and get a punish. Only Isshin consistently dash attacks you for healing.

I dropped the game when I had to fight the Guardian Ape.
I signed up for fun samurai sword clashing, not fighting a retarded fucking ape.
The game peaked at Genichiro.

There's an easy fix for this. Just don't play shit games like Shaqiro:dunk once

based, once the game diverts from the "theres a coup!" shit, it's boring as hell

Can you name some hard games that dont have artificial dificulty?

Ninja Gaiden, Megaman 1, Battletoads, Contra

kill yourself boomer

>artificial difficulty
lmao
Anyway just be more careful and create a true opening before healing, this should be obvious.

Honest question - is Seriko actually hard? Once I found you can sight read the parries because the hitboxes for once are spot on about 2h in against Butterfly I breazed through the rest of the game. Isshin raised the difficulty yes, but not insurmountably so, and only to an extent that I felt should have come around the first Owl fight instead of the end of the game. However, I can't see how they would increase the difficulty given the limits of the mechanics. It's a really strange game. yes I did Owl Father and Demon of Hatred

>doesn't reward a player who can git gud
... What?

As I progressed I first timed Emma in ng+4, Isshin phase 1 and the first Owl fight. I didn't know any of their move-sets at the time. I still don't know any boss move-set beyond one or two mechanics.

You absolutely can reaction deflect almost everything in the game, and the shit you can't, hey you get another try at it. You absolutely can avoid or counter every perilous attack in the game with reactions without seeing them beforehand, here's something that will blow your mind: hold B/circle and run away, BOOM you have fucking avoided almost every single perilous attack in the game, then you can wrap your lizard brain around the animation and next time it's just natural, unless you're shit. That's not to say there isn't some absolute bullshit in the mix (underwater headless, both bull fights on ng+) but unlike previous titles, you absolutely have the tools to deal with every single attack.

More than any game From has released before, Sekiro rewards you for getting good.

>y-yy-yy-you have to learn and remember
Nigger that is the FromSoft patented formula. That isn't any different in any other FromSoft game. Sekiro undeniable has a higher skill cap than any previous title.

GIT GOURD SCRUB

imagine having to find opening to heal

>all these shitters
>they have no idea the game gets real only without the amulet and the bell's demon

Attached: 1554447819521.png (323x345, 78K)

>Genichiros Jump Thrust
You have enough time to heal into a Mikiri counter.
>Great ape pound
All of the Ape's attacks can be blocked except for maybe one or two. You have enough time to parry if you aren't a retard and maintain distance properly.
>Owls jumping attack.
Can be dodged to the right after a heal. You can even parry it if you're fast enough.
>Each only activate during healing.
They activate at a certain distance from who you're fighting. If you run away to heal, they're going to close the distance.
Git gud.

>name games without artificial difficulty
>get called a boomer
Get fucked faggot

Fromshit is only as hard as you make it to be.

Its only hard if you dont upgrade your posture and attack, same with not leveling up in dark souls and bb.

Eh, I'll save that playthrough for the expansion DLC.

...

the game was still easy as piss with the amulet and bells demon

Sounds like you're hesitating when deciding when to heal. This complaint never went through my mind while playing

>is Seriko actually hard?
It's hard in the same way any From game is. Your post is basically the formula - you got gud and that's the point of the game.

They actually encourage you to use the hard mode shit this time round, ng+ Kuro WANTS his charm back, it's not an easter egg like in other games.

It's only hard because other From games taught you wrong. Y'know, on purpose.

Once you get into the swing of things, It's really no harder than any other From game.

Imagine thinking battletoads and contra isnt artificial dificulty.
Having to replay the whole game after you lose a few time is fucking retarded and there to arftificialy inflate the game time.

There old ass console games were the very definition of artificial difficulty and only nostalgic boomer would bring them up as an example of good dificulty.

I think they confirmed there isn't going to be any dlc

Why do people love pretending to be retarded in this place?

stop forcing your meme word its retarded and will NEVER EVER catch on

Height of Technique (Acquired all skills) is a bullshit achievement and I would bet that atleast 90% of people with that achievement cheated it. Like I did after I got all other achievements
I liked the game but it has no replay value and it gets boring after 40 hours. DS1 and DS3 entertained me much more.

Well thats a fucking bummer. I need more of this game. Once I got the hang of parrying and movement, It got hella addicting.

>expansion DLC
I wouldn't get my hopes up, it's been a few months without any news
You mean without the amulet, right? I disagree, it's quite challenging, even from the first bosses. I always get the demon as soon as I can though.

It artificially inflates game time, but not the difficulty retard. Having to replay the game doesn't effect the difficulty one bit as the game is still the same after you die.

Why are you so weak

Stay mad and shit at games zoomer

Monster hunter is much harder than fromshit, yet I dont see anyone complaining about it.

Arch tempered nergignte, arch xeno jiva, relish the moment devil jho quest and behemoth put everything fromshit games have to offer to shame.

Get fucking gud scrub.

Will Yea Forums ever admit this was a weak game compared to pretty much everything else From has ever released?

>Sounds like you're hesitating

no, thats how artificial difficulty works, boomer faggot

instead of making game actually hard and mechanically complex,
ets make you replay it whole each time you loose

Isshinfags -
Gook or American VA?

For me, it's the English VA. He fucking NAILS the character, some of the best voice acting I've heard, PERIOD.

>a tempered pickle
>hard

Attached: 1538306341950.jpg (416x487, 68K)

it literally has the best sword combat of all games though and the bosses are really good

To be fair Isshin teaches really well that you shouldn't be blocking and therefore sets up that NG+ run, but it felt like a grind because you're not introducing new mechanics, just punishing old ones harder. It would rightly shit on those who beat Isshin by wiggle waggling their sword as they spammed party (Jesus Christ that FextaLife guy was shit) but for those that can actually play it just seems like a way of From reducing your effective healing since it mandates a patch up every encounter. As I said here, it's a very strange game because it has really only one central mechanic and the rest is gimics. It can force you to perfect that central mechanic, but doesn't go further. When I started playing, I thought it would have a big focus on spacing since I was rewarded early for doing it well. Yet later, most enemies have a single attack arbitrary gap closer to punish chuggers, so that goes out the window. If it had spacing + parrying as central mechanics I think it would have been a truly great game. Perhaps a way to fix it would have been to make those gap closers two part to allow for punishing if you're not chugging, but as it stands, I only occasionally use spacing to purge posture (and even then you have to be standing still). So the game encourages chugging either for health or posture by standing still and yet refuses to really explore the other possibilities of a character action game. I'm probably just talking out of my arse though because some spacing is there for NG+ but not as much as I would like.

I think I could've gotten it within 4 playthroughs if I didn't trade for attack power
after the first one each subsequent game is just a couple hours anyway but now I'm in my 5th cycle and the last 30 or so points is gonna take forever

I dont know how to reply to this.
I wanted to reply that I would rather replay Sekiro than DS2 but I know it is not true.
Holy shit even DS2 has more longevity that Sekiro.

The game is hard though you retard.
What the fuck are you even trying to say? That the game somehow magically gets harder just because you died and have to restart?
Your fucking retarded holy shit

It helps if you judge it as an action game instead of a RPG. The combat is great but the builds/environments/character customization is very limited compared to From's other games.

>English VA in a japanese themed game

>spacing
>when every single encounter it's done in half the time by just being aggressive and deflecting everything

Attached: 1554241872470.png (616x657, 484K)

I played the whole game in japanese. I've heard some of the english va in vaatividya videos; it sounds absolutely abysmal and out of place. it sounds like a poor anime dub.
Sure I have to read subtitles but the weight and the emotion behind the voices can't be matched by the english vas.

Jap VA without fucking question. From what I've heard of English Isshin it doesn't even come close.

Isshin's Japanese VA is god tier.

Isn't this game just a large tech demo? I mean videos of it make it look more bare bones than ninja gaiden sigma. What's the appeal? There's no diverse moveset, combos, weapons, or replay value. It is genuinely an average game with nothing of note.

Attached: 1563816726500.jpg (600x738, 129K)

Spacing becomes a bigger issue in NG+ cycles with the bell. It's not important in every fight, but for late game mini-bosses especially you can't just deflect everything, your posture still breaks before theirs does.

Awful.

Nice reading comprehension - I'm saying that it doesn't reward spacing and it would be more mechanically complex if it did
Yeah, but it's not as absolutely vital as parrying. Perhaps ER, which looks to have PvP, will refine spacing in the way I want.

yes, having to restart the whole game is artificial difficulty.

There are dark souls players who like artificial difficulty and set themselves rules like no healing, no leveling up or having to restart if they die.

fuck off with your retarded boomer shit, these games were overrated as fuck

>is GOTY a tech demo?
No, From's magnum opus is a complete product, far more so than anything they've released to date.

Get rekted , EOP

Part of this is why I made the suggestion of having your Posture be capable of breaking even on deflects as the no charm effect.

But user, Bloodborne exists

no. I think its a good game and I had a very good time playing through it. The boss fights are amazing, and the clanging of the swords is unmatched.
Sekiro has limited replayability simply because of a lack of builds and stats but its objectively better than ds2 and ds3 in every other regard. It's a notch below des, ds, and bloodborne though.

bro the healing in this game is already broken and you still want more?

the only thing this game is punishing you for is having chronic autism

lmfao

Pretty sure this is bait because it's impossible not to enjoy Isshin's voice in Japanese.
If not, then you do you, I guess.

Bloodborne had better music/atmosphere/environmental storytelling and RPG elements, such as they were. Sekiro was better in every other conceivable way. And no, telling 3/4 of a story, half of which you ripped straight from other sources without bothering to try and hide it, and letting your audience/Vaati headcanon the rest, does not make a great story. You might buy into that shit but I don't.

I had my fill of Bloodborne and it was great, but I wont replay it again (partly because of the framerate and motion blur). I will definitely play Sekiro in the future, unless Elden Ring/Sekiro 2: Divine Child Boogaloo has the same gameplay.

youtube.com/watch?v=cBk8wUo6B7c

That would be much better than the health chip because it's not permanent. Skillful play would allow it to be dealt with without breaking the flow of the fight - you'd be forced to use the dodge and jump more and realise that more bosses than you'd expect have openings for that, or space to only parry the end of the combo - as opposed to now where even if you're good you'll still have to chug. Yes, that tests your ability to find openings to do so, but it doesn't feel great and is a bit open to rng since you need them to put out moves you can exploit to do so. The same is true with the prior option, but it spaces it out over a longer period of time with less chance - a myriad of small moments of skillful play and risk vs one big moment of risk which is more likely to be based around waiting for the "you can chug now move" rather than reading the smaller complexities of the fight - and that's why I like your suggestion.

Yeah, but also
>Mash the attack button and die
Isshin is a faggot who's wrong about his own saying. If you hesitate you leave yourself open, but if you attack relentlessly you leave yourself open because bosses have 100x more HP then you do and literally tank attacks

Based

Attached: 1563381207843.png (602x517, 425K)

>bait out the heal punish
>dodge
>heal
are you retarded?

those are all examples of you being a moron and assuming the boss will just stand there and stop attacking you for some reason. only one boss actually disrupts healing and that's Owl. what you listed were all just examples of you being a defenseless brainlet.

>try to heal vs a boss
>see that he has a special attack that can hit you during the animation

>tfw literally just ran around every boss and waited for them to whiff a laggy attack so I never knew about this

enjoying my time with my first playthrough, I'm scared of coming to threads because spoilers and whatnot
I still don't get the dragonrot thing, do I have to cure after several people are afflicted or just ignore? do you even get enough items to cure?

Don't worry about it too much. There's enough to cover your "brick wall" moments.

Yeah, it means you have to think more about when you can deflect and manage your Posture as a resource which is what I always found was the most interesting aspect of it, the concept of using your defence as a resource for offence. Having guard cause chip damage just makes guarding even weaker when, especially after playing through the game, you already know you want to deflect as much as possible instead of guarding.

It's kind of a pointless mechanic, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The only thing it does is raises or decreases the chance of keeping your gold and xp when you die. you start at 30% and it only depletes with each person that receives the rot.

get good you fucking retard

Yes, Souls games and Sekiro are trash because you have to find an opening to heal every single time you take damage. It's objectively inferior to other action games where you have no way to heal in combat but can take more damage.

i dont see whats so artificially difficult about boatloads of parrying frames and double ichimonging. Just git gud, retard

Here's your (you) tripnigger, I expect a good dick sucking and a reply with your trip deactivated

There's tons of windows when you have time to heal. Do it when they're in the middle of an animation.
You're literally just bad.

>HAHA LOOK HOW UNFAIR THIS MECHANIC IS, ITS TOTALLY UNFAIR AND I AM TRULY A BAD PLAYER WHO SIMPLY BELIEVES THIS IS AN UNFAIR MECHANIC
