Everything involving Someya, Han Joon-gi, or Hirose was great. Nagumo really grew on me after a while too, one of the better bro-type characters in the series for sure. Okinawa was a pretty chill place to be in general too. I didn't care much for the rest of the game though.

Really, I enjoyed Yakuza 6’s story and the kind of slow burn finding out what was going on, seeing Kamurocho being transformed into something new and the new Tojo Clan, returning characters like the cult guy form Yakuza 0. But once you get up to that shitty reveal towards the end of the game, the final boss, and how they completely jump the shark and have Kiryu faking his death to account for the fucking ship, it kind of ruined it for me. You can’t exactly cover up a fucking ship and it’s not as if kiryu was the only one who knew about this shit. I really hope they can come up with something fresh for Shin Yakuza.

Remember that if the news of the ship actually comes out Japan basically has to redo their entire government because of how obscenely corrupt it is with laws that give kickbacks to so many people thanks to Daidoji.
Plus, wasn't that news report done locally and not nationally? At most the people of Onomichi know about the Yamato but that's it, they don't know about Hirose murdering hundreds of people or the enormous government conspiracy behind it all.

Considering it wasn't even mentioned by passerby in Judgment it probably did end up just being a localized event in the end. Judgment was pretty light on plot twists, it had twists but was pretty grounded overall.

Kenzan and Ishin both have story translations via KHHSubs but side content isn't translated (Outside of like four substories for Kenzan) and for Ishin he just stuck to cutscenes after chapter 2 for some reason while Kenzan translates the entire story, the stuff you see outside of cutscenes that are related to the main story and all. Kenzan's got a translation patch in the works and I'm unsure if the guys are doing a full retranslation or if the main story is still going to be the KHHSubs translation (They mentioned it was going to be the latter but they got a bunch of translators a couple months back) so who knows about that.

Kenzan's a bit clunky gameplay-wise relative to the newer games now but Kenzan's Kiryu is one of the better protags the series has had in my opinion
