The Hedgehog Engine is a fucking LIGHTING ENGINE ffs, how are people still confused by this? Havok is the overall physics engine since Sonic 06, the "game engine" is just how they built how the game will play; see Retro Engine for Sonic Mania.

To be fair, you can only do so much with the boost era's bosses. All of them are some variation of "dodge the shit they throw at the track in front of you while maintaining enough speed, then homing attack their faces in".

It's hex code that data miners do to see inside the code. Only they understand this shit, but basically it's poorly optimized and seems like basically mangled Forces coding.

Even if the concept is still the same, it being used exactly the same as those other times is pure laziness/lack of any creativity.

Jap devs barely ever do this. This is what happened to Sqaure years ago and how they lost the source code to Kingdom Hearts 1.
Although that was in a fire, most devs don't keep stuff like that forever.

Sonic Forces final boss is somewhat forgiveable being that it's a multi-phase boss, unlike Sonic Lost World.

What's a good way to get into hex editing? I want to learn to unpack and repack some files.
