Ramparts are the little, consistently spaced notches at the top of castle walls. Most people do them with one-blocks, and they'd fit well into your castle.

As for sidings, just add simple fences or something to your paths. There's a number of fence-like blocks that'll look good doing that. Make sure there's no glaring holes in your architecture and make self-enclosed rooms.

Alright family. I've not figured how I want to close off the roof yet so that's why there are no ramparts.

Anything you would recommend for room filling/decorating, lighting so that it's not super dark, and so on?

There's nothing preventing you from building that in survival, and you'll get a much greater feeling of accomplishment since you actually had to work for it instead of just place your infinite legos

How do you use shaders in minecraft without tanking your framerate? I have a 1080 Ti and 16GB of RAM (I set the minecraft RAM limit to 8), and no matter what shader I use, my framerate always drops to 30fps.
What's the deal with this, am I supposed to only load 15 chunks?

I haven't played minecraft in so fucking long but i remember installing a texture pack and building comfy medieval villages with hay roof, stone base and wooden beams. Good times.

I have a 1070 (non-Ti), 2500k and 8gb ram. With SEUS shaders I get 40+ fps with 25 chunks.

However remember to set anti-aliasing in the general shader settings (not the shader specific ones) to zero.

Here is my autistic temple I've been building in survival for the last couple of weeks, still wip (as you can see from the scaffolds). Right now I'm working on the last room and then once that's done I'll add on more details and stuff. Any ideas for other materials to incorporate into this? I can also show you some other images if you want

I get that the point of MC is the eventual ender dragon battle and the survivalcrafting/exploring up to it, but I still want some more interaction from the world. Towns and whatnot look pretty cool so there's some motivation to leave your farm/base now, which is nice. Same for underwater exploring. Enchanting gives a purpose to mob killing and farming for food, good. You can tame mobs and bring them home as well. Somehow bases still feel a bit lifeless though, not sure why. This is singleplayer ofc, I don't have friends.
