You want to make a video game, right?

You want to make a video game, right?

Why aren't you making it?

What would it be about?

but I have made several.
They were all garbage

I'm writing a story and if it turns out well I might make an RPG out of it. For now, just a story though. Easier to do alone.

I already worked in over 100 shitty html5 games and some mobile games, my advice: don't work in videogames or, if you do, be completely independent.

Classicvania but each stage leading up to the castle is a different time period and setting. Also each stage boss is a demon whose weapon/ability you'd be able to utilize after defeating him.

I'm creatively bankrupt

Like MegaMan?

I want to make Dead Cells but with only melee and try to out DMC combat into it.
I just need an artist, a programmer, a sound designer, and some money.

Yeah, the progression system from MegaMan (except more linear) but level design and physics of Classicvania

Terraria but from top-side!

I don't want to make a videogame.

Coming up with ideas and concepts are fun, but the actual process of making a videogame isn't to me. I have no interest in the development process whatsoever and no delusions that I'd enjoy getting it.

Props to people that have the interests and mindset necessary to make their perfect game, but my interests lie elsewhere.

>You want to make a video game, right?
No
>Why aren't you making it?
No
>What would it be about?
No

>You want to make a video game, right?

lmao FUCK no.

best of luck to you, user. i'd love to see more Classicvanias since all anyone focuses are making Metroidvanias

I have zero ideas. And looking at aimple, yet successful games like Baba Is You or pretty much anything on Dreams right now makes me realize I'm even more uncreative than I thought.

Yeah, you're pretty retarded

am planning on a classicvania like is making but it's more like Kirby than Megaman, where you can absorb souls to use the powers of the monster and getting hit or dropping the soul gets rid of it. Souls can be combined with weapons to make new powers.

Fucking Twilight has ruined vampires forever so nobody wants to play a game based on Forever Knight.

I want to make a game that has the gameplay of KH2 without the obnoxiously autistic story.
That's my dream and currently what I'm working towards.

There are dozens of games like that already user

Because video game people tell me to go for small scale games I don't have any passion for (my idea is really not that large scale anyway), and movie people tell me to consider other forms of media instead, which I'm open for. Whichever comes first, preferably a game.

My ideas are too big for a solo dev or even indie startup.

Im making a 1v1 game where 1 person is the protag and the other has a massive moveset and huge health bar like its a boss battle. Im making it because i think itll be fun to watch my friends play it. Too bad i suck ass at art and its holding back my progress

A game where you play as a conquistador in a heart of darkness type setting during Cortez' trek to Montezuma.

I've been trying to get my brother to work on a game with me for years, but he's not very interested. We'd make something that we could pull off reasonably well. Until then, not really interested.

Oops meant to quote op

Already got a job and no time to make my own game, but would like to make a 2D prototype.

AI needs to improve massively both in efficiency and quality for even the idea of games I'd want made to be possible. And that's excluding the problem/cost of voice acting.

My only video game related dream is to star as Andrei Ulmeyda in the Killer 7 movie.

>press press press triangle the game
Haha good one user

I’m still designing it, but the hard part is going to be the 50 million dollars.

First you need to be a nigger. Haha jokes on you nigger.

I have no idea what it would be but I want to make a game influenced by the following (in no particular order):
>Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
>Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen
>Metal Gear Rising
>Breath of Fire 3/4
>Zelda BotW
>Animal Crossing

It's an upbeat strange funkish forest feel amalgamation of features from each

Don't know shit about coding, but I'm interested in making a game. I can do animation on my spare time, and I usually hear others talk about wanting to make a game.

Wondering what's a good place to start?

Short answer: To learn coding

Long answer: Pick up GameMaker (2D games) or Godot (2D and 3D) and work through some youtube tutorials. Build a few small projects first (Tetris or whatever) before you actually start your own. The experience will help you build a solid foundation for your own project.

Made a puzzle game. Released it on Steam. It bombed so I'm making another. Such is life.

>Godot

I was looking at this engine, seems neat.
I was told to review JS before tackling more on the Godot engine.

Why would you need JS, they got their own langauge called GDScript, alternatively you can bind C++ or C#

It's definitely still very immature as an engine, but perfect for beginners looking to learn and get something done

alright then, I'll jump in blind and see how I can approach it from there. Thanks for the insight, I do notice a lot of youtube tutorials on the subject.

Yes

Impatience

2D Sonic rush with Jet set radio mechanics and Rollerblades

I'm working on it.

I hopped on the meme train bwck in 2010 and made flash games on newgrounds. Those
low effort cropworks were the best I could do, today there is nothing I can make that will ever be half as successful

My most basic idea for a game would revolve mostly around October and would feature a 'monster of the week' kind of vibe, being a mix of SCP and supernatural. Would be a mix of action/light horror and would have emphasis on puzzle solving, but overall the genre would differ based on the monster/current storyline. They would all be mostly themed around traditional Halloween beasts and designs, while having more in depth plots and undertones.

A big thing I think would be cool would be a handbook which would be an absolute necessity for the player to study in order to understand the beasts and puzzles the player comes across. For example, a series of symbols which signify different types of threats around, such a a sign for audio compromised, or the symbols themselves being compromised.

Really overall, I think it would be fun to have just a cool seasonal game series for Halloween. I've also considered one for Christmas where you play as a small gingerbread man combating a series of evil nutcrackers as you explore a single house, as a platformer. The art style would be semi realistic, as if you were going through an I spy book. For example, one level would be inside a Christmas tree and you would be traversing a very real looking tree while all the enemies/characters would be traditionally animated sprites.

I don't really want to make a game i just want to make some 3d art that kind of looks like a game. I think that's enough to get it out of my system

Because I am a literal idea guy. Just because I have a vision doesn’t mean I have ANY qualifications or talents

can i play the first one

>about
70s/afrobeat style tank game with cart-racer physics and child soldiers

>why aren't you working on it
it feels like any decent artists I can reach are all FUCK DRUMF virtue-signaling betas or tranny drama-queens

deciding to wage cuck, learn an instrument, and attempt to get in shape instead

I spent the majority of my last two years of college working in the theoretical part of Computer Science (i.e. fucktons of Math) but was still savvy enough to build a non-standard interpreter/compiler machine that did internal calculations in base 10 because I couldn't be assed to learn hex.
I fucking hate programming and am learning pixel art instead.

I started one in RPG Maker VX Ace... I didn't finish because I need music and sounds for the game and I have no idea how to compose music or make sounds for it.
And I also suck at making sprites...

But I made a game, in Super Mario Bros X:

An jrpg with robots, didn't make it yet because i'm still learning coding, also i'm kinda lazy.

I'd make a game about building and maintaining a medieval settlement that you can expand into a civilization with enemy factions and ability to ally

i'm not good enough
i'll never be good enough for any of this
all my ideas are trash

>random spot of the video
>music from EVO plays
good shit

minimal hud, insanely difficult and realistic gta clone

I'm thinking of making a tower defense with co-op to sell for cheap. The thing that i just have no idea how i'll do it is marketing. How do indie games even do marketing? Do they just pray steam does the job for them?

Cuz I don't know shit about programming.

>sure lol
>i can't code, draw, or do anything other than write below-average stories

I'm making a Souls clone. All the systems are in place, but good 3D is insanely time consuming and expensive. I don't want to fall for the low poly meme so I'll probably turn it into a wave-based zombie game or some shit.

It would be a simple joke game. Basically a husband who forgot to go shopping, and his wife will divorce him and ruin his perfect life if he doesn't have the groceries home when she returns from work.

Right when you start comparing avocados, terrorists come in and start rounding up hostages. You have to sneak your way through, avoiding jihadi terrorists, while completing your randomly generated shopping list, to protect your perfect life.

Good ending is leaving the exact amount you owe for the groceries behind.

>marketing
i've actually wondered this myself and i figure that you'd just have to find groups which focus on indie games and advertise it there, alternatively you could release it on the epic store or switch/ps4 and have a decent advantage

would selling on epic even give an advantage? There's probably much less people in that store, unless you mean getting the chinks to pay you for exclusive rights?

i meant that getting on a curated storefront is better than going on an un-curated storefront like steam when you're starting out and have no fanbase

in that case wouldn't the best result be to sell on both platforms?

Dig Dug in 3D - you'd dig through mountains and pump up monster girls to explosions.

yeah but you'd still be paying to get on each storefront probably and no one would buy the game twice, and it'd be more of a hassle to keep your game properly updated and whatnot on multiple platforms

I had two ideas for a game, both very unoriginal.
My first idea is an RPG (unnamed here because this is one I actually want to make) that takes place in our world, with 4 party members that are socially irrelevant (wagie, NEET, college drop out, near high school dropout) getting psychic powers and fighting a paranormal force (unoriginal EB ripoff) that are actually indirectly supported by deep state in an attempt to divide and conquer the world. Takes place in a romanticized version of my area, Western NY. I have a self insert character, he's a low IQ person that constantly throws himself in the way of danger because he's actually too stupid to realize fear and fucking dies at the end because of the rejection of another party member. The main protag is a female character that always gives off a tough demeanor, but the chain of events unfold because she breaks up with her boyfriend, who later becomes a rival antagonist. My problem with the game is that I don't think a studio would ever want to make it, because it is so bluntly offensive (but true, I based a lot of the experiences in the game with my previous jobs and ideas about the world, such as school shootings) that it would be taken off of whatever platform I decide to release it on.
My second idea is a Yume Nikki style game but instead of effects, you keep dying and getting reincarnated/respawned with different fluctuations in stats (Love, Intelligence, Muscle, and Passion or L.I.M.P.) and the style of death of death is what effects the next life (ex. jumping off of a bridge respawns you, but the map is low grav like scoutsknives in CS and you can explore different parts of it). The main goal is open ended, and you only have an hour of actual playtime find these ending. I have just titled it "Variety Hour", and I came up with it after being in a Yea Forums thread where anons posted things like that one call from 9/11 and that one mother who got fucked by that brick while being a passenger in a car.

I would just make cool environments for the player to walk around in
they would be inspired by games like The Void, Pathologic or Scorn.
Letting the player walk around and soak in the atmpsphere, maybe put some ambient music in the background so the player can just get lost in the enviroment.
Maybe tell some small stories with the enviroment, who knows
I would probably release it for free or at a low price because walking and looking around is all you would do
