they didn't want it competing with 8.2 and 8.2 had to come out mid-summer to compete with shadowbringers

They even have Asmongold talking about how 8.2 is better than classic now (obviously will change his tune when classic comes)
But it still feels like a mistake. Classic would have competed with ShB much better since most people consider BFA a lost cause, and Classic really needs to hold down a playerbase due to how the game is
