Overrated as fuck. Boring. Uninspired.
Overrated as fuck. Boring. Uninspired
yes you are OP
the whole series is terrible, wonky fucking tryhard garbage
Still better than Demons' Souls, Dark Souls II, and Bloodborne.
I agree it has the worst, samey areas in the series
Elaborate or stop posting. Stop using buzzwords.
9 out of the 19 base bosses are just large humanoids in armor who swing a sword at you and nothing else. Maybe they'll throw a faggy little magic missle at you once in a while but that's it. For a fantasy game it lacks a lot of imagination.
Pic unrelated. Bloodborne fits your description more accurately. Faggot.
Saged.
Half of the base bosses are all the same. In a fantasy game I expect to fight fantastical enemies, not just the same fucking guys over and over again, especially considering the reputation Dark Souls has for its bosses. The entire second half of the game after Pontiff feels rushed and uninspired, literally just backpedaling into areas you've already been and fighting the same generic enemies. The ending was abrupt and sudden and didn't feel accomplishing whatsoever.
you need to return to reddit
>9 out of the 19 base bosses are just large humanoids in armor who swing a sword at you
I'm not sure what else you want in a fantasy game. Aren't big dudes in armor an important ingredient in fantasy settings? Also DaS3's take on fantasy isn't uninspired in the least. It doesn't fall into the pitfalls of generic WoW or Warhammer art direction, with comical armor and weapon designs. There's none of that generic tolkienshit like elves or dwarves. It's pretty well realized imo.
nostalgia bait for cash grab
>also andre is still alive and kicking? cmon niggers that is mediocre tier
That sounds like every Dark Souls game.
why the fuck did levelling up at bonfires never return
Perhaps you could argue that medieval knights are an essential portion of fantasy games, but for a series like Dark Souls where the bosses are pretty much the main attention point you should expect more. To make matters worse, these bosses all appear at the very end of the game one after another. After you fight Pontiff you fight Yhorm the Giant. A little while later you kill the Dragonslayer armour. Not much longer afterwards you kill the Lothric prince. Then immediately afterwards you're ready to kill the final boss. All of these are the exact same; large dude in armor swinging a big sword at you.
odd I enjoyed the second half way more than the first excluding the cathedral of the deep, the real ending is in the dlcs sadly
I made a thread a while ago and someone made the claim that massive portions of the game were cut and rearranged somewhere in development and the entire second half of the game was mostly pulled out of their ass. Not sure if any of that is true but I wouldn't be surprised. The first half felt very mystical and adventurous, as a fantasy game should feel. The second half felt like a shitty boss-rush. It was a chore to continue playing the game. Not because it was difficult, but because there was no satisfaction within the things I was doing. I don't plan on buying the DLCs.
I pirated it and was waiting for a good discount to get everything but the price of the season pass never goes past 50%
if it weren't for ringed city I would have hated this game nearly as much as dark souls 2 for how much they rushed it
regarding the cut content those claims are pretty legit if you check sanadsk and lance mcdonald on youtube you will see plenty of evidence that support those thesis
I can see it, now that you pointed it out. But FROM has an awful record of making large monster enemies due to the camera positioning in their 3rd person action games. I personally don't mind the design when done right, like Midir or (if you've played BB) Ludwig, but I always found humanoid bosses their best bosses as you can see them in action, you can see them telegraph their attacks instead of getting hit from nowhere off screen by a claw strike.
>The first half felt very mystical and adventurous, as a fantasy game should feel. The second half felt like a shitty boss-rush.
This is a very valid complaint. This one of the reasons why I actually prefer the first half over the second in DaS3. The second half just railroads into fighting all these literal whos one after the other, without some sort of build up, whether that be through the environment or NPCs.
None of the bosses feel or look the same.
The only shitty boss is the wyvern. And that's not even the true boss of the area.
Nothing about the ending is abrupt. You return the ashes of Lord's to their thrones and open the kiln. If that doesn't scream final boss, your are braindead. And there is hardly any backtracking as this is probably the most linear dark souls game. If you found yourself backtracking in this one, maybe it's you.
You're telling me that Pontiff, Yhorm, dragonslayer armour, Lothric prince, nameless king or the final boss are in no way similar? I don't think you genuinely mean that. They are all the same thing. Large dude in armor (in dragonslayer's case it's just armor) who swings a big sword at you over and over in large choreographed attacks. This isn't fun or original in any way. The final level of the game is just returning to Lothric castle and fighting 3 bosses who are all in the same general vicinity and then immediately fighting the final boss. Don't blindly defend games that don't deserve it.

If the only similarity you can see in these bosses is size and weaponry, then it's just you.
I don't know what you're trying to prove man. If I have to fight pretty much the same guy over and over without any real reward or sense of satisfaction, then the game is overall pointless. All games are pointless but this one even more so.
I think the game world itself is beautiful and they did a good job creating a cool fantasy world, but when it comes down to the core of the game I don't think it's very enjoyable. Not because it's difficult, but because every boss will boil down to the same thing; rolling around and stabbing them a few times in the back. Maybe if you're really good you'll parry one of their attacks but that's all there is in therms of variation. Pretty game, boring gameplay.
This series killed armored core and tenchu.
but the base game ending is abrupt, it was supposed to be longer and soul of cinder feels like a last minute idea that they made recycling assets
speaking of wich a lot of assets from ringed city were intended for areas in the base game that were cut and that includes the final area wich is just a corridor that leads to the final boss
DS2 was way worse in that regard. I’m not going to go to the wiki and add up how many humanoid bosses with two handed weapons there are, but there’s so many that it’s all I remember about that fucking game.
I never played DS2 but I heard that it's shit and there's too many bosses.
All true. I did enjoy the Bloodborne engine though. Had some nice zones like Irithyll Dungeon, Cathedral of the Deep, and Dragon Aerie.
Yep, it has a fuckton of bosses. And yet, I don't recall a single one except for a few in the DLCs. If you hate the 2nd half of DaS 3 being a boss rush, then you probably won't like DaS2.
The last giant, Pursuer, Dragonrider, Dragonrider twins, Orstein looking guy, Ruin Sentinels, Lost Sinner, Looking Glass Knight, Velstadt, Vendrick, Giant Lord, Throne Watcher/Defender, Havel, Fume Knight, Sir Alonne, Burnt Ivory King
Not sure if you count smelter demon or not.
this thread is so fucking predictable.
Yea Forums you're just sad now.
True
One of the best games I know. It's amazing how polished and well done this game is, how much quality content it has, and how much replayability it has.
Regardless of your personal opinion on the game, it is objectively of higher quality than almost all games that have ever been released, ever.
>I'm not sure what else you want in a fantasy game
maybe something like Dark Souls 1 where each boss had a unique gimmick to make it interesting.
Thematically, it's fine the issue is gameplay. The reason people complain about DkS3 is that these fights tend to just boil down to having just another moveset full of change-ups and awkward timings to memorize.
Yeah everyone loved the Artorias of the Abyss fight from DkS1, but if every fight was like that the game wouldn't have been the hit it was. You needed Capra in the shoebox and Gaping Dragon with a shitton of hp lumbering around that huge room with the pit on one end. You needed Quelaag's lava puddles and to be able to knock Iron Golem off his bridge. Nito, 4 kings, and BoC could have used a bit more tuning but at least they are unique scenarios. (Seath I think is just a failed idea I'm not sure if it's even possible to make that fight not suck)
>Regardless of your opinion, it’s objectively the best game ever
I mean, I love it, and it’s the best souls game, but there’s so much wrong with it to say that it’s the best ever.
>but there’s so much wrong with it to say that it’s the best ever.
It's good that I didn't say that then, and that you're quoting a statement that I didn't make.
Higher quality than most games doesn't mean flawless and it doesn't mean best. Learn how to read and stop putting words into other people's mouths.
Yeah, that’s my issue with all the souls games bosses. It’s basically just memorizing these bizarrely choreographed, spinning, wide sweeping attack patterns, getting in one or two hits, then rolling through yet another 8 hit combo just to get two more hits in. Repeating the process until they’re dead, and dealing with the odd bullshit/undodgable attack every now and then. The boss fights simply aren’t fun.
>Consumed King's Garden (mostly swamp)
>Cathedral of the Deep (half swamp)
>Farron Keep (swamp)
>Profaned Capital (half swamp)
>Smouldering Lake (swamp)
>Road of Sacrifices (half swamp)
>The Ringed City (half swamp)
>The Dreg Heap (swamp)
This game is a fucking slog, I sincerely have no idea how people can continually replay this. It easily has the most boring individual levels in the entire series. Don't forget reusing areas like Untended Graves, or Catacombs of Carthus which is not only a stitched-together copy-paste like something out of an Oblivion mod, but then used AGAIN in the even worse Demon Ruins. It peaks at Undead Settlement and goes steadily downhill after that.
You literally said it was the highest quality game ever released.
Im guessing so you had a reason to return to firelink frequently and you wouldnt miss out on npc interactions
he's just fishing for (You)s effortlessly after reading the thread quickly to figure out the bait
>You literally said it was the highest quality game ever released.
>it is objectively of higher quality than almost all games that have ever been released
You're pretty dumb, aren't you?
I didn't even read the thread. There's just not many games that reach the level of overall quality of DaS3. Disliking it because it doesn't appeal to your personal taste doesn't change that.
The game had far too many interactions like that, and you practically have to have the wiki up full time on your first play through just to find out how not to kill an NPC on accident. I remember when my sorcery npc dropped fucking dead for no reason without warning. There was no way I could have known that going into the catacombs would get him killed.
I paraphrased, but that’s what you said, and it was a retarded thing to say. All souls games are objectively poor quality with stupid, frustrating mechanics, and more glitches than you can count.
2>1>3
When are we getting some more news on Elden Ring?
>but that’s what you said
No, it is LITERALLY not what I said. If someone finishes a race second, and I say he almost won, then I literally didn't say that he won, which is what you're pretending I said.
Language follows clear rules, you can't just make shit up as it suits you.
My only problem with the game is that it is more linear than the others.
>overrated
I see people shit on the game based on their own personal taste instead of what the game is supposed to be
>boring
It plays like the others. Not sure how this is genuine criticism
>Uninspired
It is clearly inspired by both DS1 and Bloodborne. The only uninspired game of the series is Ds2.
true but it has the most polished gameplay
TGS or Gamescom probably.
I realized I'd never get or be good again after I got stuck at the cripple brothers fight.
can I ask you a serious question?
How can you tripfag? Do you feel no shame? Are you one of those basedboy liberal faggots that are loud and have no self awareness at their negative influence to those around them? Do you not realize that there are places on the internet for people like you? Like reddit, twitter, tumblr, etc. So why do you come to an anonymous image board and then choose to be a little faggot snowflake with a tripcode and a name?
It literally isn't. For any of them, unironically.
