I've never held one of these, how is it? as good as a 360 con? better? worse? I feel like I need a backup controller and genuine new in box 360 controllers are drying up. I'm wondering if I would be just as happy with a new bone con instead.

Worse shape, better d-pad. Much more fragile too.
the latest revisions (ever since the xbox one s) are pretty great, it feels better than a 360 pad and i used to love those, makes those 360 pads feel like cheap plastic toys. they fixed the bumpers from the early versions of these back to the 360 bumper design. you will have to buy a battery pack though if you want wireless. but the advantage is that there's no retarded bulge in the back of it for the batteries.
I got one along with a USB dongle for my PC. Very comfortable, and you won’t have to retrain your muscles if you are used to a xbox 360 controller.
the USB port is shit, you can disconnect it with a light wiggle
I think the bumpers on the 360 one are better but the rest is a improvement. The PDP controllers are great as well if you want save some money and don't care if the controller is wired.
how I know if I'm getting good revision or shit revision?
and what you mean I will need a battery pack? it doesn't come with the AA battery mag?
Don't listen to this. The shape is a lot better, it's actually a really nice controller. It's heavier than the 360 though.
are they as good? how are their 360 cons?
Do you need the wireless adapter for it?
if you only use the usb cable to recharge it, it won't get this bad. i have no trouble with disconnections.
if it has an audio jack you have at least the fixed bumper revision, if the plastic around the home button is the same as the ones around the face buttons and not the same plastic as the bumpers (a separate piece) you have the newest revision with bluetooth, which is the one you want.
the newer controllers have bluetooth too but you get worse input latency
You can tell by the smoothed out part right below the Xbox button and above start and select. The white ones are also revision models. These models have Bluetooth so you don't need a dongle to play wirelessly, and if you don't have BT then you can use any standard Micro USB to USB A cable to connect it to your PC.
well shit guess i'll get one from amazon then because i checked everywhere if it's bundled with it
it has a 2 aa battery slot internally with a latch. it comes with two aa batteries but it's thr most comfortable if you get the play and charge kit since it's basically an internal battery pack that you can replace but also can recharge and lasts a long time.
this. get the wireless adapted for the least latency.
This, I keep fucking braking them and it's bullshit. I've had the same 360 controller for 5 god damn years, i've broken two Xbone controllers over the course of two years. Fuck microsoft man.
i preferred the 360 after trying out a xb1 controller before returning it
it's getting old and the thumb sticks are looking worn but it works well
until the right stick gets slightly stuck and slowly drifts around
i'll keep going until it's unplayable
i only use it for casual games like kingdoms of amular or dark souls though
no aiming required
i've been using my xbox one controller ever since i got it in 2014. still works perfectly, no drifting, no breaking.
better than the 360 in every way
I'm not actually a fan of the overly tactile clicky d-pad, as I feel it limits responsiveness due to the pressure needed for actuation, but most people like it
They don't have the grip the official ones have but I think material wise it's like a dualshock2, so it's still pretty good. I think the Dpad is a bit better, it sticks out more and is bit more durable. I picked one up for 25 euro's while the official one cost me around 60.
I have no experience with their 360 controllers.
nah, i got eneloops up da assss. I like never having to plug in usb cables
I don't suppose the Xbone cons work with the 360 wireless reciever do they?
they do not. there is a separate xbox one receiver, which exists in both big (old) and small.
