What went wrong?
Poor balancing at launch making most builds unviable. Having said that, I really enjoyed it.
Good game overall marred by often questionable balancing choices that make endgame miserable. You don't see these flaws on 0BC, but as you go up the ladder, you begin to see just how bullshit there is in the game.
Also, every balance patch is just an announcement list of nerfs for the most part.
>Not enough variety of weapons with damage reduction.
>Some weapons are totally useless further limiting variety
>Very little exploration for a metroidvania
>On higher difficulties I swear to fucking god those wizards were reading my inputs
Nothing. There's a new update in alpha.
Will the blood sword ever be good?
Since the fucking EA that weapon is absolute dogshit
You should consider it as more of a utility weapon, i.e. don't depend too much on it and instead use it to buff up the damage on your skills/traps. But yeah, it's not my favorite weapon either.
disappointing ending
at least for me it was
Too easy if you just hulk smash with a power wep.
It's one of those games where you must beat it on the highest difficulty to get the "real" ending.
>t. never got past 0 cell
>Continuing with the game once its beaten
For what purpose. It wasn't fun enough to want to replay
Because the real ending is when you beat the actual final boss on the highest difficulty.
You do have a point though.
0 cell used to be much harder and the casual players kept whining about it for so long that the devs nerfed it. Now it's very easy and it satisfies those players. But on the other end of the spectrum there's players who have little trouble beating it and are like "is this all the game has to offer lol". I don't think it was a good call to nerf it.
it's next on my backlog, what's good and bad about it?
i REALLY liked hollow knight, and in HK threads this game was recommended quite often
Nothing.
It's one of the few "rogue-lites" (aka not a real genre) that's actually not completely shit in terms of balance.
lol what? tactics is just objectively better than everything else
Hollow Knight is more of a platformer from what I've seen. This game is more action focused. I don't know why people keep mentioning both in the same breath.
Boring. Shitty enemies, bad exploration, randomly generated shit.
I played Dead Cells a little (didn't like it that much) but from what I remember it's very different from Hollow Knight. It's more of a roguelike than a metroidvania.
nothing? it's a solid fun game.
Dumb people do it all the time on this site with lot's of different games that only look kind of similar if you saw two screenshots of them.
Don't take them seriously, one is a roguelike that plays more like ninja gaiden if anything, the other a proper metroidvania
The difficulty gap between the last level and the end boss is so big that it feels like there's one or maybe even two levels missing in between. I can cruise through the last level but never came close to beating the last boss. Doesn't help that there is (was?) a DPS damage cap.
For me it was fun until i saw everything the game has to offer in a few hours, after that it becomes a boring grind and you'll end up using only the weapons you find better or die miserably (for me the oil sword and another sword i don't remember + fire/ice grenade and ice shard) and the fact that it's made to be speedrun made it less fun
>metroidvania
But it's not, as you don't backtrack.
it's a rogue-lite, because it's perma-death but you keep the upgrades
Really shallow game, having reached the end, I saw how to beat it and I had no desire to because it was so boring to play that way, unlocked almost everything.
How did this get so much love? It's a good game but as far as sidescrollers/metroidvania's go there were better games out, Wonder Boy for instance.
I actually really like the game. At first I was bummed that it wasn't a true metroidvania, but I'm kind of glad it doesn't have a story or anything because I wouldn't replay it as much if that were the case. If they keep adding content I'm going to keep revisiting it because at the core it's actually a fun single player game for once.
>cheeseball the game on easy mode
>wow it was way too easy fucking dropped
>refuses to play it on a higher difficulty
>not good enough to play it without cheeseball items
lmao
I really loved this game and sunk over 100 hours into it
Then I hit 2BSC and began dying at stupid shit because I wasn't powered enough/got hit while cursed/stunlocked by a grenade bug and gangbanged by ninjas
Fuck that shit
