Disgaea is unusual. The real focus of the games is on grinding forever so you can challenge the post-game content, as despite appearing to be a SRPG, tactics are nowhere near as important as large numbers in Disgaea. This would normally be terrible, but Disgaea offers tons of different ways to empower your characters in an effort to make the grinding process interesting. I got tired of the formula eventually, but I used to enjoy the series.

Octopath pretty much requires smart party management. If you're trying to unga through it that might be why you're not liking it.

I've been looking for one to play this last week but everything I've tried hasn't been very enjoyable. Tales of Phantasia PSX is shallow and the encounter rate is obnoxiously high. Legend of Dragoon seems interesting in terms of the world and writing but the battle system is so slow it's painful to sit through.

When I was a kid and teenager I loved animé aesthetic. It looked so cool. Now it all looks os so boring and samey. Is it the art that changed or me?
For real the style is so one note that I avoid any game with the look. I think the amount of low effort chink games with high quality but boring animé art has contributed to lessening the art.

The biggest weakness is that, for a harem hentai, there's precious few multi-girl scenes where more than one girl is on the screen. It's stated outright that they basically have massive orgies every night, even though each girl is assigned a specific night as her own, but we never really see it. At most, there's two girls on screen, even if more are involved.
