Jrpgs

>jrpgs

why would anyone ever play this shit?
>choices dont matter
>shallow romances
>shitty turn based combat
>stretched out long to compensate for lack of real content
>shitty humor

>choices don't matter
In modern WRPGs they don't either. The days of classic CRPGs are long gone.
>shallow romances
No videogame anywhere has good romance.
>shitty turn based combat
As opposed to what? Skyrim terrible animating at the enemy simulator?
>stretched out long to compensate for lack of real content
Same as modern WRPGs.
>shitty humor
Arrow in the knee references in every fucking game is just topical humor now, isn't it?

vs
Political Correctnes down your throat

easy choice for me

>skyrim is the only rpg out there
meanwhile all my points apply to all jrpgs

>In modern WRPGs they don't either. The days of classic CRPGs are long gone.
when in doubt assume wrpgs are just skyrim knockoffs
>No videogame anywhere has good romance.
I agree with this, dont care about romance in any rpg because im not a horny 14 yr old anymore
>As opposed to what? Skyrim terrible animating at the enemy simulator?
Turn based combat is awful, that and combined with random encounters kill any enthusiasm I have to play any jrpg, its a slog, it adds nothing to the game and i despise it. Every time i play one i end up falling asleep about half an hour in
>Same as modern WRPGS
thats just an issue with a lot of games, not just rpg's but like i said, you have you wait 30+ min in asinine fighting before you get to the story, at least you dont have to wait 5 min every time mashing a button to fight an enemy in a wrpg
>Arrow in the knee references in every fucking game is just topical humor now, isn't it?
and most jrpg's are generic weeb shit unlike the at the time refreshing stories in the 90's

I mentioned Skyrim only in combat. Everything else also applies to any modern WRPG, along with a bunch of other shit I didn't mention.
>diversity, sexual deviancy, general SJW-ness
>ugly graphics and characters, in equal parts thanks to excessive focus on realism and the above point
>no moral ambiguity, specially for the PC because mentally-fragile people can't handle the thought of playing as someone even slightly amoral
>dialogue wheels
>quest markers
>relationship values
>tacked-on online element so the game's harder to pirate and can be memed on as a service
>Season Pass, paid cosmetics and unlocks
At least half of these apply to every single WRPG released in the past decade and a half.

I think you're thinking Persona = every JRPG ever. I can't think of any others that are dating sims, though I can think of totally different genres that have dating aspects.

>OMG I CANT WAIT TO (((PLAY))) THE NEW FINAL FANTASY XXIXIXIX OMG OMG AHHH MIKUCHAN SO KAWAII DESUNEE

OP, Yea Forums is supposed to be anonymous. You don’t need to attach a picture of yourself when you post.

goosebumps: choose your scare shit sucks and "classic" wRPGs are forgotten for a good reason

>wanting """Romance""" at all

Saints Row 4 had great romance

enjoy your random encounters every 2 steps

>MFW I cried like a bitch when I first saw the MH world trailer on e3
>Same with the dmc5 trailer
I felt like a train of nostalgia hit me in the fucking face
I had never cried in like 7 years or so before those two
I guess nostalgia is my weakness

This. I will never understand why Yea Forums was so mad about outer worlds not having romances. They always fucking suck and the previous game from Obsidian Deadfire had absolutely abysmal romances.

>choices dont matter
so... just like wrpgs, then?
>shallow romances
if you want a dating sim, play a dating sim.
>shitty turn based combat
there are plenty of action-based jrpgs.
>stretched out long to compensate for lack of real content
not really. most jrpgs are loaded with real content.
>shitty humor
so... just like wrpgs, then?

Tokyo Mono Harashi something something Gakuen Kitan.

because wRPGs are pure shit, for instance

>top
>combat is brainlessly holding O
>cannot die due to the fact you can use essentially limitless items at all times with no cooldown
>magic consists of nukes that don't take any strategy to use, limited but can easily be made back around frequent campsites
>side quests involve boring fetch quests
>considered a huge disappointment, one of the worst in its series

>bottom
>combat consist of a braindead single click on an enemy
>cannot die due to the fact you can use essentially limitless items at all times with no cooldown
>magic consists of nukes that don't take any strategy to use, limited but can easily be made back around frequent rest sites
>side quests involve boring fetch quests
>considered one of the greatest wRPGs of all time

the standards for wRPGs are lower and the only people that praise wRPGs are those who played them as children and are blinded by nostalgia. This is why there are people who go back to play classic jRPGs despite not playing them as kids yet after one or two wRPGs they drop the genre (especially the horrid cRPG subgenre)

Persona 2 duology is though, also it has way better combat than, say, Planescape.
