But yes anyone with a fucking brain can tell you that TPCi's hilariously awful care for Game Freak (and letting Masuda open his mouth since he is notoriously terrible at PR) is the biggest reason why the forecast is so bad. TPCi is huge, but GF is small, and they rely too much on merchandise revenue to really pay attention to GF going up in flames. That's the problem.

Hell, even Nintendo can fuck off when it comes to Pokemon. The entire brand has evolved on a focus on merchandising. Despite being the top media franchise in the world, beating out Star Wars. They're complacent on mediocrity just because most of their profits come from merchandise, and it's become a sin to ask for the developers to put more money and effort into these games, and they never will. They don't have to to sell 15 million and make more than 2x more on merch.
Next year will have a new half assed game, and a new anime just to sell merch for these new pieces of media, and the endless cycle will continue.

nah, im pretty sure Nintendo themselves wish they can grab gamefreak by the balls and get their shit straight.
But they can't because ownership is split with TPC, they don't have as much power.

They still own a 3rd of the franchise, and there is speculation Nintendo owns a majority of Creatures Inc, the owner of another 3rd, so essentially Nintendo owns more of Pokemon than they let on.
Nintendo is obviously in on the deal, they're still a company, so I wouldn't put too much faith in them. Out of all of their franchises, Pokemon is the only one not to suffer from a badly made video game. You'd be stupid not to take advantage of that.

The only way they can make people at least feel a little better is if Pokemon Home can actually fucking do something instead of being Bank 2.0

X and Y, and also Sun and Moon, have outline filters to be stylistic when the actual models are of better quality without them.

The point is that they can be easily edited to be better by fixing the textures

I'm not a Pokemon fan (I'm just in this thread because the little bits and pieces of this controversy I hear are neato) but didn't they leave the low quality textures as they are? I remember there being as huge debacle over an N64 quality tree.

The 3ds models are actually severely overdone for the hardware.
There's a reason the game chugs in double battles. Many models have more than twice the polygons they need.
Now it would make sense if gamefreak did this to future proof the models so they didn't need to remake them on new hardware, but since they apparently need to remake models anyways it's just fucking stupid.
