It's a great game! One of the best platformers i ever played!

Attached: CB59A0B9-91D5-4E54-BB80-8719AE2D5C69.png (400x400, 171K)

She has a nigger boyfriend and racists don't like that

>boyfriend
Theo and Madeline are just friends.

niggers and abortions

>indie platformer with infinite lives, two second levels and wall jumping

Attached: I'm the trashman.png (300x400, 188K)

>indie
>2d
>platformer
jeez, i wonder...

i've never seen anyone enraged, i've actually barely seen anyone talk about it
Its a pretty good platformer yeah, but the story is bad and predictable, the B Side levels absolutely suck and thats really it. Its pretty ok.

The fact she got blacked makes my pp hard

nice super meatboy reskin you got here

because every platform indie game is the same

It's a decent game, but the story sucks and the obvious sjw token muslim is pathetic. Even has European name, they just made him brown because DIVERSITY!

Can't say that yet since my Limited Run Games order STILL didn't ship out

>protagonist is female

No thanks.

>She has a nigger boyfriend and racists don't like that

to the point where the /pol/tards want everyone else to think that this game has some abortion symbolism in it

I don't remember him being muslim. When does he say that?

his appearance, duh.

tedium platformers don't interest me, sorry.

Attached: antagonize.jpg (400x400, 24K)

Oh no, brown people!

>I'm going to write this character with a european name, speech pattern, cultural behavior, etc but make him arab in appearance because I'm a diversity obsessed muppet
kill yourself.

The game tries way too hard to be cute. Don't match with die and retry

Isn't this game pro abortion or something?

I didn't see anything in the game that could even be remotely related to that topic. I have no doubt the dev is pro killing babies though.

Because right wing edge lords are huge snowflakes

Oh no, brown European people!

No such thing.

Is there any other game where its completely impossible to talk about because of /pol/

I played it recently. Great experience. I think it doesn't get talked about as much as other indie titles due to its difficulty, and perception as a "SJW" game due to the subject matter (which is an absolutely stupid perception, but hey, people are stupid). I am good at games, but when I found out that I had to get secret hearts for the final ending, I just dropped it. Many players never fully beat the game.

you going extinct cracker

You haven't even tried to talk about the game. There's nothing to discuss, it's just a simple platformer.

It's CalArts bullshit.

it's just Super Meat Boy for girls
the fact that people don't realize it is proof how little people play platformers

This is one of those games that would have worked a lot better if you could make up the story for yourself
Sort of like how every Elder Scrolls game lets you make up why you were imprisoned
Whatever the motivation for climbing the mountain, or collecting strawberries, or what have you would have been much better if there was 0 dialogue from start to finish
That way it feels like it is your personal journey instead of forced SJW depression garbage

If by "babies" you mean "weenie players who can't step up to a challenge", then yes. Chapter 9 is going to be deliciously brutal.

honestly the fact that they didn't get together kind of made the whole ending disappointing as hell. I guess the point is that Theo sees Maddy like his little sister since she mirrors all the traits and insecurities that Theo's actual sister has but still.

They're acquaintances that became friends over the course of their journey. Is that not enough for some people? Not every two characters have to get together by the end, and Madeline desperately needed friendship more than a relationship at the end.

it's mostly seen as SJW because the type of people who flock to it are actually SJW's. it's not like the game is any worse for it but goddamn you can tell like 50% of the people who played this game and talked about it online unironically used "Easy mode" for their first playthrough.

This and the devs look soi as fuck, also le mental illness/crippling depression is a common Tumblr theme. Also the musician is a tranny.

Attached: ALWAYS.png (800x800, 53K)

Avoiding all the identity politics bullshit:
>devs use mental illness bait to get lonely and outcast people interested, but its seen as a cheap hook by others, evn those with said issues
>game has incredibly simple mechanics that have been done before elsewhere, and better.
>game tries to hit emotional beats but they don't come off as authentic because of the way they are hamfisted into the experience.
>even then it affects some people here and they likely don't feel like admitting so, either to you or themselves
It's still okay, its just not GOTY material, and it won best indie last year.
Oh and the soundtrack is pretty good I guess.

probably because they saw that trap at the game awards and wanted to fuck it before they heard its man voice

Which game did it better?

I already played Super Meat Boy in 2010, so nah I'm good. At least that game had a distinct artstyle. This game has some of the most bland, soulless pixel art I've ever seen. It's almost like it's just another blase faux 8-bit indie platformer.
Also there is no level of satisfaction or difficulty in a game that readily lets you destroy sense of challenge in the name of 'accessibility'.
So not only is this game creatively bankrupt on a mechanical and artistic level, its entire narrative is a portrayal of 'depression'. Because how else are we going to connect to zoomers? LOL this game is so relatable. *posts drink bleaching meme* xD
This game is incredibly gay.

Attached: 1562401969056.jpg (250x244, 8K)

So every game with an optional easy mode is trash for you?

I prefer the superior mountain climbing game.

Attached: diogenes.jpg (500x500, 217K)

By all rights I should have hated this game but it was legitimately one of the best purchases I made last year.

Easy game, enpowered woman with a nigger boyfriend.

I completely overlooked it because I'm so tired of pixelshit

I don't believe anyone who compares it to Super Meat Boy beyond the superficial "hard platformer" has actually played both games

There's nothing wrong with difficulty modes, it's mostly the 'inclusive' attitude. This is why journalists went shilled this game super hard. They could actually beat it. This specific subgenre of platformer really only offers worth in its difficulty and the satisfaction of beating a tough screen.
So what's the point if the challenge is scalable?

Attached: celeste2.jpg (1200x675, 50K)

Why burger always think brown people = muslim? Statistically most muslim people are seanig

>game has a mode that lets game journalists beat it

And into the trash it goes. There can be no tolerance for this kind of safe space anti-difficulty trash.

Insecure incels seethe at the fact that this masterpiece was made by a tranny and a group of SJWs.

I don't hate it, I've never even played it, I just hate how journos put it on a pedestal for being easy

So you're mad because there's an easy mode and the game says "if it's too hard just use easy mode" ?

Sounds like you have issues, dude.

Attached: 465165416.gif (444x250, 3.99M)

Unironically yes. Letting casuals into the industry just encouraged garbage practices like paying to win and complaining about people being "tryhards". Something being videogamey is now a mark against the game, instead of being a selling point.

It's time these idiots are permanently thrown out of the industry, and we enforce gatekeeping.

>NOOOOO STOP HAVING FUN ITS A GAME MADE BY TRANNIES YOU CANT ENJOY IT!!!!
I bet Yea Forumsirgins would be all over this if the devs were jap

Attached: 1563768554210.png (785x1000, 254K)

Easy modes have been in games for decades, dude. You're way too late to complain about them now.

I'm not too interested in it because it's a plot-based platforming game based on games I played ten years ago. I do want to try it when I get in the mood, but it's not my kind of game anymore.
I do like that the porn scene agrees that Celeste doesn't shave her pubes. Depressed people with long hair and lax grooming are cute.

Yea Forums's retardation knows no bounds

Attached: 1467823021309.jpg (970x880, 114K)

There's art of this game, let alone lewd art? That's news to me

Its a 2D pixel art platformer that tackles themes about anxiety and self reliance. To top it off it had a strangle hold on the title of Indie Darling for practically that whole year RIP Iconoclasts. Its a fine game, great even, but it checks every box in the vidya contrarian starter kit and therefor a whole lot of mouth breathers start foaming at the mouth when they get the chance to bitch about it. The hate is just another byproduct of mob mentality, people who are too busy complaining about twitter screen caps to form their own opinion, and a general lack of critical thinking. Honestly there is plenty to not like about it as it occupies a fairly overcrowded niche, but you'll rarely ever hear about that from the common complainers.

Attached: 1448943703416.jpg (569x629, 91K)

Sounds like a lot of people here have issues, to be honest.
Seems like there are a lot of sheltered guys who get genuinely mad from seeing an active female protagonist and a brown dude hanging out in a video game, like that's somehow threatening their identity. Hmm. Really makes you think.

It's not too late to strip them out of the industry and/or demonize them as the downfall of video games.

I hope you appreciate the irony in a game about climbing Mt. Blatantly Obvious Symbolism having a 'this is too hard' mode.

>I already played Super Meat Boy in 2010, so nah I'm good.
Do you faggots only play one game of each genre in your whole lives if the game was a 10/10? I swear this is the stupidest excuse Ive ever heard, and I see it constantly
>I wont play X because Y already exists

I enjoyed it, but after finishing half of the B-sides someone would have to pay me to come back to this game

Attached: D0L8pDfWkAE8epW.png (316x237, 47K)

And the point of the game is to enjoy it. If you're not enjoying it because you're not good at platformers and just want to see how it ends for yourself, why frustrate yourself with extra difficulty you know you can't beat?

People who ARE good at platformers can tackle the challenges the game throws at them, including the B and C-sides, and the Golden Strawberries. People who aren't good at it don't have to and can just see the story to its end, with a big fat "ASSIST MODE" stamp on their profile in exchange. What's the problem?

This thing that has been around forever is now the enemy and it's not too late to wipe it out before it does [THING WHICH IS BAD (which I made up)].

Actually, you're right.
Super Kong in Donkey Kong Country Returns, the Invincibility Leaf in Super Mario 3D Land, and Luigi's Assist Mode in Super Mario Maker 2 all improve their respective games. They don't cheapen the experience at all. Maybe I'd play old games too if they existed back then!
At least those games are actually made for children.
It's not about having an easy mode. It's about a game letting you toggle cheats on the fly with no repercussions, in a subgenre predicated on its difficulty.

Oh, I've played plenty of other single-screen precision platformers. This one just doesn't do anything new, so I am going to draw that comparison to emphasize with little value it has otherwise.

>Dumb anime poster is Dumb
Like clockwork.

>Game genre is based around overcoming difficult challenges
>implement a mode that strips it away
Be honest, you just want the (You)'s, right?

Attached: celestecore.png (1920x1080, 3.64M)

>assist mode
C'mon son.

It's not predicated on its difficulty though. It's predicated on fun, which is subjective.

Do you also whine about AOE 2 cheats?

That's not the assist mode mark tard.

>game has double jumps, wall jumps, spikes, moving platforms, and a crudely drawn artstyle that attempts to ape 8bit/16bit games
GOTY, very original - especially within the indie space.

This game impresses no one that plays more than 5 games a year.

Attached: 1ieyc6m18qq01.jpg (750x488, 85K)

Do they label them as being a specific mode or toggle for incompetents unable to complete the game, rather than an easter egg/console command?

Attached: cute picture for a cute post.jpg (1046x1500, 536K)

This thing which has been around forever must be destroyed because I just compared it to this other, completely unrelated thing which is bad and gross.

If this was a conventional platformer like Mario I'd agree with you, but the fun you have in this game is by being tested by its mechanics. Which you can disable.

But the game isn't predicated on its difficulty, but rather on a logical progression of improving your skills and confidence to be able to complete the challenges that lie before you, or simply see the story through to the end. I have zero issue with people completing the A-sides with Assist Mode. I DO have issues if those same people then use Assist Mode on the B-sides or C-sides to claim they beat them, as those are intentional challenge stages without story and using easy mode on them is being a fag.

Garbage game for trannies between dilating

Characters are annoying and juvenile. The platforming is really well done though so I enjoyed it. You already knew why people dislike it though, didn't you?

I mean, yes it has difficulties.
The easiest being brain dead tier.

Attached: difficulties.png (475x537, 16K)

That's only because you choose to compare it to Super Meat Boy. Nobody is forcing you to do this.

*blocks your path*

Attached: n++.jpg (320x180, 10K)

>literal teen characters are juvenile
No way. I never would have seen that coming.

>literal teen characters
All the characters in the story are adults. Neither Madeline nor Theo are teenagers.

This isn't a game with exploration elements or anything, it's a single-screen platformer. I'm not gonna compare it to Sonic Adventure.

I don't believe that for a second. They're written like teenage character tropes. If they have any official age, it's just an arbitrary number.

>I mean, yes it has difficulties.
That's not what I asked, is the easiest difficulty labelled as being for those people who "Really want to enjoy the videogame, but can't actually play the game".
No, make it an easy mode, don't go out of your way to say "You're not any less of a player for using this!", if anything it should be the opposite, but I digress.

It only took off so well because it had a cheat menu disguised as an "easy" mode, which meant journalists gave it 10/10s for being beatable

You don't really have to compare it to anything. You can judge a game by its own merits.
Also it has tons of exploration, what are you on about? There are branching paths, alternate rooms, missable collectables in hidden areas. Even the very first stage has this.

No it took off because it has good controls, game feel, mechanics, level design, and loads of polish.
It's a tight polished package.

>If they have any official age, it's just an arbitrary number.
Now you're just being retarded. Theo's younger sister is in university, and Madeline says she handles her stress by getting drunk and getting pissed off at people online. They're both young adults, likely in their early to mid 20s.

there's yellow hearts?

They're adults written like teenage character tropes. The soiposting isn't just dumb kids memeing about arrested development: I know Internet videos where thirtysomethings make dabbing jokes and say "bloobies" for blueberries without a hint of irony.

I bet Theo's got a tight, polished package to be honest.

I actually love the game. Beating the Summit B-side was one of the most satisfying experiences I’ve had in a platformer

Have you seen how millennials act?

Blue crystal hearts are hidden in each stage and must be puzzled out to solve and obtain. Red crystal hearts are always at the end of each B-side. Yellow crystal hearts are always at the end of each C-side.

I thought you couldn't polish a turd?

Unsure if I like Celeste game because it's actually good or because I completed the messenger before it.

Messenger a shit. Conflicted game design. Unrealized gimmick. Reddit tier writing and story. Celeste was literal leaps and bounds better.

Attached: 1464725321953.gif (480x270, 1.57M)

One minor expository detail and one character literally doing what I did in my teens doesn't exactly negate an entire game's worth of characterization.

I didn't know there was a c-side. Do you have to finish core? That's where I'm up to.

If they do so does you, retarded nigger.

I want to FUCK Badeline!

Personally, I'm pretty indifferent to babby modes, even in games where difficulty is obviously integral to the intended experience, but it's pretty comical all the same.

I have no argument to defend casual easy modes other than appeals to seniority and nostalgia.

This is the same attitude that huge fans of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale have towards criticism of their game. No one is denying that they're separate products but people are going to draw comparisons that make sense to them. A lot of indie games are very derivative of what came before them or what seems to be 'working' in the industry. This type of platformer being one of those things that does well in the market. I unironically enjoy the controls and level design in this game. I just have plenty of other problems with it.

You seem to think that modern day 20 y/o's are indistinguishable from teenagers.
For the most part they aren't, you can pick your poison for why that is.

To unlock the B-sides you need to find the cassette tapes hidden in each level. To unlock the C-sides you need to complete Chapter 8's B-side, and to unlock the heart gate in 8-B you need 15 crystal hearts, meaning all the A-side crystal hearts and Chapters 1-7 B-side crystal hearts.

It's a mediocre game that was shilled incredibly hard by the game journosphere because they're all friends with the guy who made it

>ask about yellow hearts
>proceeds to tell me about blue hearts, b-side and shit I already know
You are weird.

That's a very big strawman. I'm not saying you shouldn't think critically. I'm saying you should consider this game different from other games, and accept that it follows a different design philosophy. Genres are not just about setting strict boundaries and then trying to create perfection within those boundaries. It's also just a neat way to categorize fundamentally different games.

>Yellow crystal hearts are always at the end of each C-side.

Saying
>Do you have to finish core? That's where I'm up to.
Doesn't tell me much. Are you at 8-A? 8-B? I can only assume the former since you should understand you'll unlock something else by completing 8-B since it requires everything else completed first.

>already told you you get the yellow hearts by finishing the C-sides
>tells you how to unlock C-sides since you demanded further clarification
>"You are weird"

You are weird

Post more Badeline

>This game impresses no one that plays more than 5 games a year.
I barely play 2 games per year. I checked out Celeste after reading this thread and it doesn't interest me much. It doesn't look bad, but puzzle-platformers typically don't hold my interest very long and Celeste doesn't look particularly mind-blowing.
Plus the art style looks like exactly the kind of pixelshit that didn't need to be pixelshit and has a really awkward contrast between the pixel and non-pixel styles.

>I barely play 2 games per year.
this is why Yea Forums is shit

>I barely play 2 games per year.
Play more video games, faggot

I heard this game has a weird difficulty setting where you basically make your own challenge. It might be seen as a plus for some people, but I like when a game is actually forcing me to face hardships instead of going "here, you have all those awesome abilities that can trivialise the game but hey it's optional!"

I wanna be the guy and Boshy did that, same for Wings of Vi.

Yes, Variants Mode. It's like Assist Mode except to increase difficulty even further, and you can only unlock it by beating 8-C, the final level of the game.

Game is fun, sometimes the amount of precision needed can be annoying
I've finished a few c sides so far

>just another pixel shit platformer

The only positive aspects that stand out are the music and the small twist on how the girl deals with her "dark self."

Other than that, it is Super Meat Boy reskinned as someone else stated. I am not saying it is bad at all. I am saying it is overhyped and did not meet such high expectation.

>But the game isn't predicated on its difficulty
It kind of is, as what I guess people are calling a "single screen platformer" but I think of more as a "precision-puzzle platformer." Basically Celeste is a game where each bite-size scenario presents some kind of a 2D platform/physics puzzle that requires some hand-eye coordination and reflexes (and usually a lot of repetitive trial-and-error) to pull off.

Post those records

Attached: 798789324324.jpg (1280x720, 72K)

Good game. Certainly not 10/10

It's just another platformer from the bunch. It does nothing new.

>it's just super meat boy reskinned
>super meat boy is reskinned jumper, which was made by the same dev as celeste

I'm just careful about what games I decide to spend my time on these days and don't waste time playing utter garbage.

I had fun with it and got everything up to C-Sides. I am too casual for C-Sides.

They are 3-screens each. If you cleared the B-sides you can do the C-sides, user. Don't give up.

>I wanna be the guy and Boshy did that, same for Wings of Vi.

those games are actually good tho

For me, I find the art design vomitous. Seriously, fuck anyone who draws in this derivative, Calarts style.

Hey, remember when gamers were saying that indie games were going to save the industry?
