it's 99.999999% improbable because it requires 100%perfect placement of the hanging body, 100% perfect placement of the stabbed katana so that it could push the lock without being swayed aside by the looseness of it's anchor point (which I'm assuming also killed the victim, so the stabbing point also needed to be 100% fatal) and a bathroom stall-tier deadbolt because any other kind of deadbolt would not be so easily locked with such little force. The katana and body would have to be spinning at an incredibly high speed for it to happen otherwise, and the high speed spin itself would create even more room for error

Honestly the worst trial in the entire series. They could have done something really cool if they just had him commit only the second murder.

Haven't played ZTD yet but I feel like Virtue's last reward at least was different enough from 999 that it could stand on it's own.
The meta elements were also woven into the plot much better than Danganronpa ever manages.It's just so stupid that every third case needs to be a double murder and every 5th needs to not feature a real killer and so on.
The actual in universe meta shit in V3 also comes out of nowhere.

I've been trying to get a bunch of my DR-loving friends to play it. So far, only one has even started.

The idea that a falling put shot ball would kill on impact is silly. The odds of it literally killing on impact are probably pretty fucking low. He would probably just have a pretty nasty concussion or brain damage, but he certainly wouldn't die immediately.

Also the odds of his head being in the perfect spot for a dead on impact is stupid. I shut the game off after the first cast of V3.
