Honest to God, why the fuck even bother? I remember when people were trying to get Smash 3DS (or something else I forget) that took them all day while it took me 10 minutes to put Snake Eater 3D on mine

I bought a 2ds xl just for mh3u and 4u
Put over 200 hours into them so far, and I'm not even close to g-rank in either, so I'd say it was worth it

Yeah, it's definitely worth it. MH series alone gave me more than 600hrs of fun on 3DS alone, money well spent.
