Depends if western or japanese. That's reducing things a bit (a lot), but if western, I expect some kind of big map to explore, almost/definitely open world. Plus a lot of dialogue choice, and I expect my character to be alone most of the time (though some wrpg definitely have party members), which makes for great solitary experiences. In japanese RPG, I don't expect to have a lot of freedom in my choices, and I expect a more linear game, but with a heavy focus on story, characters and companions, world design and music. I tend to prefer jRPG more, because ultimately they feel more upbeat and comfy. I don't care about player's choices that almost never mater in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather explore a cool world with my flashy and interesting companions. Both have their own merits and both should be experienced.

Meh. He has his moments but I still think he is overall among the weaker characters in the cast. Morag and the Zekenator being adults make them much more fleshed out and interesting. The one scene that really fleshed him out was the one where he wanted to quit after Pyra gets abducted. It showed his humanity, he needed more moments like that.
