what?

>How did you fucks meme the entire fucking vidya community into believing this game was dishonest?

Retards yelling and retards listening. The game is pretty good, reminded me of old shooters with actual enthusiasm. Ending could've been better but hey, I like what we got.

based falseflagging retard

you mean bad?
never listen to what v says

>you mean bad?
No.
>muh Prey 2
>muh prophunt

To be fair, Bethesda had just as much as an influence in creating this negative image
Game clearly was not designed in any way shape or form as being related to Prey, yet was called that anyway as a decision by Bethesda most likely, already creating a scenario in which the two are endlessly compared as opposed to letting the game stand on its own/speak for itself
This was also made worse by the fact that Bethesda did pretty shit marketing for the game; not only was there not that much, what little there was didnt really tell you anything about the game. Most thought the game was supposed to be some "spoopy" horror game, when in actuality it was more like SS2/BS and yet none of that came across
It also didnt help that the public demo they released and some control/audio issues that, because of how close the release was, made many think that the game itself was going to be rushed/buggy

what do u mean dishonest then?
you mean because they used the Prey name and it was not a sequel to the old one?

Entire games can be dishonest now?

It was my goty when it came out. It's incredibly sad and stupid what happened to this game only because it used the same name as an old shooter.

Literally the entire conceit of the Stanley Parable, which I also thought was shit.

>Game clearly was not designed in any way shape or form as being related to Prey, yet was called that anyway as a decision by Bethesda most likely
And yet OG Prey was nothing like the sequel was supposed to be anyhow.

see

blade the 30 yold boomer nerds screeching because it wasnt a sequel to Prey
Im a 30 yold boomer myself and I had more fun playing this game on release than I had with the old Prey which was a generic sci fi linear as fuck shooter
good thing I dont listen to v and just get whatever games I like

>linear as a pejorative
zoomer at heart

Totally agree. Original prey was mediocre. But even if it wasn't, sperging out in so much rage and indignation over a repeated title? I will never get this kind of autism.
I'm also a boomer myself, 34.

It brings nothing new to the table. If you’ve played Dishonoured and Bioshock then this game is derivative and boring. If you haven’t played Bioshock or Dishonoured, then playing this game first would probably be a really cool experience as it’s a refinement of those mechanics and probably the best one of these types of games.

>linear shooters bad!
>I am a boomer between
You are not fooling anybody

All you do is shitpost with your trip on, can you shut the fuck up for a bit?

I played both Bioshock and Dishonoured and Prey is the best game out of those 3. And yeah, they are all the same type of game. So what?
Do you know how I know you can't enjoy videgames anymore? you play for novelty and originality

I stayed a fact which you agreed with. “So what” doesn’t matter. That’s just your butthurt over reality talking.

Nevermind that OG Prey 2 actually had story connections to the first, my point was more that Bethesda brought it upon themselves by naming it Prey, perhaps as a way of garnering some positive hype, but in turn meant the game forever now is associated with the original when really it should have been allowed to stand on its own

dont fucking reply to him retards

Not at all. Explain how a game being part of a style or genre means it's bad. Go ahead retard.

Who was even the Prey in the newer game?

You are right, sorry.

arkane makes (or takes) amazing mechanics and stories but they suck so bad at pacing their games. prey could have been 10/10 if they cut out all the bullshit near the end

I heard that this game is like BioShock but in space, is that accurate?

>trannies shilling prey on Yea Forums

You know it's shit cause it's $4

I didn’t say it’s bad. I even said it’s the best one of these types of games. It’s simply a matter of how new you are to these games. Learn to read, butthurt fanboy.

>game has to bring something new to the table instead of just being an admitted refinement of an existing and niche genre
Fuck you.

Attached: received_2386745804927781.png (640x429, 379K)

I guess you were meant to be the prey, constantly being stalked by mimics and typhons?

>blade the 30 yold boomer nerds screeching because it wasnt a sequel to Prey
Not really. Boomers wanted a new System Shock and did not give a fuck about Prey. It's the fucking console kids who got into the whole edgy and contrarian phase who never played original Prey, but thought it was cool to hate on Bethesda and could not understand the appeal of immersive sims.
Above all, blame Human Head and the idiotic media that actually published their bullshit story about how great Prey 2 was supposed to be. It was some of the most dishonest and disgusting bullshit I've seen in the history of the medium, yet young cretins fell for it because DURR THEY SAY BETH BAD SO IT MUST BE TRUE DURRR!

Nobody who actually was following the industry back when og Prey was released actually fucking gave a fuck about the game. Everyone remembers what an absolute clusterfuck of shit it was, and how systematically dishonest Human Head was with every single game they released.

i think you mis read my room temperature iq friend

is like dishonored the same studio made it.

Humans

this, also no game has had true innovation since the 90s

>Nevermind that OG Prey 2 actually had story connections to the first
Where?

humans, obviously

Which is why zoomers get laughed at when they get mad their games get called boring and derivative.

It was a terrible buggy piece of shit at launch and I lost my save EIGHT times in the span of three weeks. I've had nothing but shit things to say about it after that, I don't care if it's fixed now, they put it out in that state, they didn't care.

Yu

gas yourself shitter
I was playing computer games when you were still in your whore cocksucker mother's womb
prob even before when you were a drop of sperm in your faggot father's balls

Its kind of right, but Prey feels far more difficult than Bioshock and feels like there's a lot more going on. I think it leans more to the System Shock side of things with its greater focus on inventory management and builds.
That said its the kind of game where it feels like you really enjoy it more on subsequent playthroughs. I only made it partway through last year before restarting now, and I feel like things are going at a faster pace now.

Actual spoiler
Humans are the Prey. At the end it's revealed the entire game events took place in the past, and you the player are the first example of a Typhon being imprinted with Human emotions, at which point the game ends with your "side with humans" or "kill em all" Infamous style moral choice. So assuming good ending, the Typhon become the Prey

Prey has nothing to do with trannies, the FeMC is cute

You have to understand that they had to rush it and release it before summer hit. It's not their fault.

can I report this faggot for being a faggot?

Fuck, that was an actual spoiler

The main character was someone that was on the plane that crashed into the Sphere during Prey, and Tommy was supposed to make an appearance to work with the main character

it worked perfectly fine on my machine
literally played it on day one
zero issues whatsoever
maybe your computer is shit m8

Yeah.. I shoulda put "Actual Ending Spoiler" or something. Sry.

There was a noticeable frame rate drop in the engine room, but that was it.

You can try like the rest of your butthurt anglotwink pals but you won’t accomplish anything.

Reminder to do always the opposite of what Yea Forums says.

Prey was an FPS that was in dev hell for the better part of a decade, and was notable for pioneering portal technology at a like 1999 e3 show? I think, maybe 1998 even. It kept getting scrapped and tossed aroudn publishers till it finally came out in 06 under 2k. It sold okay-ish, but not anywhere near enough to justify the assloads of dev time and money spent on it, and it wasn't even anywhere close to what it originally was, save the portal mechanics that got transferred over.

prey 2 was in development, but was facing similar development hell, being retooled and reworked constantly, then got cancelled. Bethesda who bought the rights, took the name and applied it to this game that bears a vague, at-first-glance resemblance to the crichton prey book, which features a similar grey goo type scenario. People wanted prey 2 because of some e3 trailers showing it as an open world thing where you're an alien bounty hunter. It looked good, but I don't think the product we received would have been anywhere close to that. The devs have gone on record talking about the plot of the game so it's 100% confirmed it'll never come out, and people are just getting pissed about nothing.

get the fuck back to discord, tranny

300% nuPrey was developed with the title "Neuroshock" and only changed due to corporate meddling.

Yeah, I was just saying I think they slapped the new title on it (and maybe even bought the IP, who the fuck knows) because of the vague similarities to crichton's prey. Look at the covers for the game and the book, even.

Thanks user!

The naming really was a stupid decision, but to consider it a critical flaw is to be very shortsighted.

Because they're similar in a ton of ways, even if BS is more streamlined. It's also made by some people who made the SS games and was literally conceived as SS's spiritual successor.

Doesn't make them any less generic

we shitpost, that's what we do
and we do it best

Did you have a good time user?

Why? I know what the code refers to.

The start is the best part of the game, though. Also there's only 1, maybe 2 if I'm forgetting, actual jumpscare in the entire game.

i think you got your memes wrong

worst bait ever

Why are people so assblasted about the name? Who gives a shit?

not played the game: the post

That opening sequence is one the strongest I've seen in a video game. I just wished the story picked up from there.

It's just easy shitposting material; it's best to ignore it.

People really, really want a sequel to Prey.

because bioshock advertised itself for years leading up to release as a "spiritual successor" to system shock and then was a dumbed down corridor shooter ripoff

Attached: dropped.png (590x513, 533K)

This game is absolutely great and I'm hoping for a sequel soon.

There are a handful of autists who pretend like they loved the first Prey despite it mostly being a generic shooting game.

This game was garbage compared to what Prey 2 was gonna be

youtube.com/watch?v=BPkHZfjK5z4

>Typhon being imprinted with Human emotions
I think there's more than that; Alex & Co. wanted to organically bring about the development of mirror neurons in a Typhon's brain through simulating BEING a human and then applying those changes to the Typhon so they would take on the adapted neurology that physiologically "switched-on" empathy for them.
That's what the neuromods did to humans; simulate what the brain would look like if you had X ability, then adapt the brain to that point.
It's why Alex said they spent all their time putting Typhon stuff into Humans, but now it was time to put Human stuff into Typhons.

Attached: 1560428592047.gif (366x245, 224K)

if it was so good why did it not release? checkmate faggot

bought out by bethesda and cancelled

you're a brainlet - leave now.

Because the devs couldn't make anything in nearly 10 years.

Because Bethesda saw how good it was and wanted to kill it

that's why i pirated

How long was fallout 76 in development again?
>In 2006, Interplay Entertainment and Masthead Studios started development of Fallout Online, a massively multiplayer online game set in the Fallout world. oh nonononononono

We need an image of her in a tux, stat

Online wasn't 76 you inbred bastard

Prey2 had a cool looking trailer.
Thats it. No, really.

They named it Prey so they could keep a hold of the copyright for having Prey in the title of a video game

kill yourself

HH would have never delivered and you fucking know it.

Fun fact. That is one of the theories for what the Matrix series is actually about and that Neo is an AI going through a similar process so its friendly to humanity and understands it.

This user gets it. I think they were trying to re-write the Typhon neurology in such a way that they could actually re-create humans through them. If the Typhon's brain is nearly a 1:1 mirror of Morgan's, and as such the Typhon would believe itself to be Morgan and want to permanently shift into that form, then you've basically resurrected Morgan. A clone of Morgan, created through Typhons and neuromods. You could bring back everyone important on the station this way, and from there either brainstorm a way to reclaim Earth or more likely just continue the process of "programming" Typhons to become human and recreate humanity that way.

no retard, they already own the rights to it, it's not movie logic
the cancelled prey game generated huge interest and they wanted to bank on the name

Besthesda liked it enough to make a live-action trailer for it, that’s pretty far along

>FPS
>Controller

souls games PvP invasions? EVE online single server MMO? like what the fuck is your definition of innovation?

Suck two cocks.

I miss buying games with bitcoin

And Human Head missed every single deadline.

This. Yea Forums has unanimously shit taste in games. For example: Yea Forums loves Obsidian games.

I'm like 3-4 hours into the game right now and as soon as I heard that audiolog talking about imprinting typhons with human emotions I FUCKING KNEW the main character was what that was

I FUCKING CALLED IT THESE STUPID BITCHES

I think they were more concerned with just stopping the Typhon by waking them up to the fact that humans are persons than repopulating.
With the pseudo-hivemind that the coral grants, the changes they made to not-Morgan could possibly propogate to the whole species and end the destruction overnight as all Typhonkind realizes they've been eating creatures like them.
It could work that way too. But even as Alex admits, his brother's been lost a long time ago. The Morgan we play is nothing like the one that started the tests. His personality has shifted too much.
Probably for the better, honestly. Since original Morgan was apparently a somewhat ruthless jerk. The one that made January is a cool guy by comparison.

>Because Bethesda saw how good it was and wanted to kill it
See

lol neither system shock nor system shock 2 sold well. both considered failiures infact, practically nobody played them- especially the first game. that means you didn't play them eithe
keep telling yourself these lies that you know what the fuck you're talking about and mentioning some dumb shit you read on reddit about "immersive sims" and how shitty abortions like arx fatalis and prey are spiritual successors etc. and similar wank

also bethesda is garbage, no different from square enix
they want money and only see dollar signs
prey was a great fps
this game was also refreshingly good compared to the shit that gets released and does well since it didn't insult your intelligence

I thought the same thing, dunno why the mc is pretty/handsome and he looks like a frog man. Made it impossible for me to trust him from the first moment.

That's even more pathetic because you played all those great old games and learned absolutely nothing from them

Played all the greats and got shit taste anyway

going along nothing to play, hey prey is $8 dollaroos, my younger brother said it was an okay game. Remember the original prey was mediocre shooter. decided to skip it completely when it was first released. $8 not too bad, so I buy. It's literally system shock 3, i say this to my brother, he says "yeah". I ask why didn't you tell me this and he says he was too busy playing it at the time. Yea Forums never talks about it because of shit taste too. feels bad it has taken me so long to play this game, so far it has been great. Going human mode this run.

>at which point the game ends with your "side with humans" or "kill em all" Infamous style moral choice
This is only if you've achieved a minimum level of Good Boy Points with the humans.
They don't even give you the choice if you made certain decisions during the story and terminate you. You don't get to just instantly pick the good ending if your decisions contradict it.
(5:20) - youtu.be/QdU2qnhz9sk
Same thing as if you take the escape pod; it's clear you don't qualify and the mirror neurons weren't activated.

I've been saying the same shit, but newniggers can't resist. Just filter the ebonics sounding namefag or stop responding to xir.

Inventory management with a controller is only acceptable in RE4.

>bank interest generated on a cancelled game that was a distant memory at that point, and only served as a point of controversy

None of the explanations I’ve heard on the name make any sense

Reminder that only newfags complain like this

>i'm being told that this is a horror game
>start the game
>wake up in some brightly lit apartment
>have to stand there listening to some fat fuck ordering me around
>take a scripted helicopter ride which has me sitting there for 5 minutes watching scenery lazily go by while some out of place synthwave is blasting through the speakers
>press escape
>uninstall the game

Your loss.

Weak bait or a complete retard, can't really decide.

Just started my second run in earnest; hadn't really played since release. Got to Psychotronics and found a Psychoscope before quitting yesterday.
Nightmare mode with the survival elements seems pretty neat, if really minimal. Since I can just leg it over to a Med Operator and get fixed up instantly for free it isn't a big issue yet.
The broken bones penalty is fantastically painful to listen to. The grinding and grunting as you move made me legitimately prioritize curing it more than anything else.

The game acknowledges you becoming overpowered though, canonically. This is one of the few games where you go from weakling to a monster in more ways then one.

I really enjoyed this game. Especially how going outside of the ship to get to places quicker was kind of like a fast travel

That was Silent Hill 2

maybe you should have been alive and not retarded to experience it

Been awhile since I played so forgive me if I miss or fudge details.

Was the "fake" set up the protag had to deal with and discover just apart of the sim too? Was escaping early a sign of breaking the rules or abritrary "didn't stay in the test area" that the characters were unhappy about?

Why were turrets so shit? I went through the effort of getting all the upgrades for them but you used up so many parts to get them working properly but they had super shit range, stability, AND weaknesses.

No, January secretely shipped blank neuromods to be installed. That first test where they're all unhappy is because you have no powers. All the things they're testing you for are Typhon abilities, like telekinesis (move the blocks), or Mimic (hide in a room with nothing but a chair).
When you do absolutely nothing special they're confused what happened with the mods.
Then, because those mods were blank and nothing was done to your mind to roll back to, you keep your memory the next day when you wake up.
Nothing past the Typhon outbreak is planned as part of the initial simulation, and all that happened to the real Morgan, whom you are simulating yourself.

I found Turrets to be amazing. Playing on Nightmare and they absolutely shred Mimics and Phantoms. Stability is canonically bad. The emails say that's intrinsic to their portable design.

I wish they could take the random hazards from Mooncrash and put them into Talos 1.

yeah, makes me doubt how much of bethesda's fault was actually behind Prey 2's cancellation

>Game clearly was not designed in any way shape or form as being related to Prey, yet was called that anyway as a decision by Bethesda most likely
IIRC, Bethesda had them name it Prey because they had the IP on hand and thought it would make it sell more.

How is mooncrash anyways? Rouge-like Prey?

It's good but completely different from the main game. Controls are the same but the level design is almost the opposite of Talos 1.

And now they are working on Rune 2 which looks like shit
youtube.com/watch?v=iBideuSAFYc

>Rouge-like Prey?
Indeed, it's just the base game but with a subtle off-red filter applied.

Attached: 1560794517971.jpg (500x403, 71K)

cause she was a lesbian

We don't really know what Morgan was like originally though. The closest thing we have is October.

>RPing a Morgan where the empathy mirror neurons didn't take
>Typhon mods only
>hunt down and murder every human on the station
>engineer elaborate scenarios by pretending to help and then turning on them at the last moment
>recycler charge their corpses and make myself some new Typhon ability neuromods
I don't usually play the evil guy but you could do some fun shit in this one.

shame it doesn't count humans you got killed indirectly towards the hidden requirement to murder everyone on the station, that's some bullshit. but if you're just fucking around there's all kinds of things you can do.

Attached: 1549699686581.jpg (447x771, 92K)

>Typhon mods only
That seems miserable desu. No movement or inventory upgrades?
Do you just hold all the NMs you get until Psychotropics and start dumping them into scans?

it is honestly kind of a pain having a tiny inventory and not being able to hack, but these kinds of immersive sims I find get a lot more fun if you give yourself limits. made the first part of the game really touch and go with no upgrades whatsoever. couldn't even repair broken guns, that was the real nightmare.

and yeah, I had like 20+ saved up by the time I hit Psychotronics, by the time I was close to the end of the game I had almost everything bought out, even the useless shit like fear resist.

the zero grav sections are kinda bad

Wrong.

No inventory sucks but the typhon powers are ridiculous later game, not needing much ammo means you have infinite psi hypos, and the shotgun is still pretty decent even at only 1 upgrade level

Prove it.

Here's your proof

*unzips dick*

I loved them. It was a nice contrast to the really close combat of the interior and a good balance for people using the shotgun as a crutch. And the little things like how all projectiles convey a small amount of recoil that impacts your flight was neat.

I had no idea Chris Avellone was responsible for the story of this game.

Same for Alex's theme - youtube.com/watch?v=DbKJHHNiJZ4
I think he comes over the radio during it unless you just stand still when it starts.

Its pretty good. You have to balance out multiple characters in one run which makes it interesting. My biggest problem with it is that credits carry over between runs and you can use your cash to load out a character with neuromods and other gear, and I think that makes the experience too forgiving.

Kind of depends if it follows the new game+ style of some games where going in with crazy loadouts can be fun itself, but I'll see myself since I bought mooncrash just now.

>Why were turrets so shit?
base are pure trash
now, if you fortify them tho, they can rip some serious ass

you know that part where you have to open a door with like 6 phantoms behind and you had to get some turrets?
i brought 6, fortified 4 and opened the door
i didn't even see a single phantom, the turrets mowed them down in 6 seconds

Imagine paying to play prop hunt but with bots only

Not really, if you just bought it you will see for yourself what I mean. I don't think its a huge deal breaker or anything though, its just my opinion. I think it cheapens planning the perfect run because if you grind for points/credits you can just load out everyone and don't need to worry about finding gear in the base.

what happened to the original morgan? dead?

Probably lost to weed madness and spends all his days being a wasteoid tokelord

Unconfirmed as far as I know. Probably dead though, between the experiments addling his brain, fighting through Talos, and that whole apocalypse thing.

Is the nightmare worth killing? He seems to drop fuck all despite requiring a tonne of ammo dumping. I've ran into him twice so far and regret killing him both times.

>ammo
>not using psychoshock and beating it with your wrench (tool)

He's the single best source of exotic material by far but you'll already be rolling in neuromods later game

Shotty strafing seems more efficent. My build is mainly mimic+wrench spam which does little to him as he kicks me away if I get close.
Ah I see. I haven't ran out of any materials yet so he is a waste pretty much, got it.

Does he remain in the area he arrives in? I don't want one skulking around the lobby forever.

Alright tell me if the game is good? I can get the deluxe version for $7 on Steam.

Attached: 1386342906698.jpg (720x636, 44K)

No. If you fight him he dies for 30 minutes. If you wait the timer out eventually he leaves and won't respawn for 20 minutes. Sometimes you need to engage him a bit after the timer for him to run way.

If you take a lot of typhon powers it shows up WAY more often and waiting it out also starts to waste tons of your time so you start killing it just so you don't have to wait

I've just got the three mimic + two health regens so far. I've met him twice in 8 hours, I just got to the reactor control room.

What do you want to know about it?
Obviously if you come into a thread about how good a game is you're going to get "yeah it's good" as a response at some point in there.

I wish the looking glass technology was utilized more, it's such a cool concept and you can do some creative shit with it but it goes nowhere really

why are all characters hideously ugly in Arkane games

Brainlet who can't understand how objects behave n zero-g detected

It's an art style choice. Make very exaggerated features to draw out their personality from the design at a glance.
Like a caricature.

Attached: putin.png (1000x968, 1.68M)

I agree. There are a few neat bits like finding the code to the safe near the simulation room, but it would have been awesome to have a whole section centered around them.
Arkane would have been the perfect people for it, too. Dishonored 2 had two god-tier thematic/puzzle levels like that with Clockword Mansion and Crack in the Slab.
The more I think about it, I bet the method they used to "layer" the two rendered areas on each other was the same as the Looking Glass stuff in Prey.

Attached: 1561146298208.jpg (297x319, 25K)

I loved how you could find every crew member and how they all had little stories you could follow

My biggest gripe with the game is the enemy design: black goo is not very fun to shoot at.

I think they're cool. Their design treads the line between biological and supernatural. Can't place what they remind me of... something from Bionicle? Bohrok maybe?

Attached: typhon.gif (500x322, 1.78M)

>We are Venom

>It also didnt help that the public demo they released and some control/audio issues that, because of how close the release was, made many think that the game itself was going to be rushed/buggy
Was that because the PC port of Dishonored 2 was so bad on release?

I wish I didn't know Combat Reflexes wasn't the most OP thing in the game.

Dishonest? It's just shit.

It's a running trend with these sorts of games. There's a very direct, standard method that can be used to trivialize the game if you want to ignore all the interesting ways to play.
Like in SS2, Standard Weapons was a completely OP weapon tree. Pick Marine, get an Assault Rifle, and the minimal Maintenance to keep it working and you're golden. All the PSI powers and energy/exotic weapons weren't as effective as the most conventional route.

desu senpai, Alot of things in this game is very OP. Its canonically suppose to be that way and the direct reason for a few aspects later on.

In mooncrash, I just finishedthe security guy's story mission so I unlocked everybody now. To get a perfect run, do you need to do all the story objectives or do you only need to do the story objectives once ever?

Attached: 1559394393537.jpg (287x480, 32K)

your favourite "game" is the witcher 3

You do stories once.
To get a perfect run you just need to escape with all 5.

bro you posted cringe, please bro

Im fucking dead

Seconding this; 200+ replies later and I still don't see what dishonest means in this context.

its a forced meme

OP even replied at one point saying he meant "dishonest" in its most pure terms, stop thinking everything is a fucking meme and read the got damn thread you fucking zoomers.

i played both bioshock and prey this year and bioshock does literally everything worse you dumb tripfag

be aware once you escape with everyone in one run the game is over and completely resets

>dumbed down corridor shooter ripoff
Pretty much living up to the shock series

>decide not to trust that fat fuck Alex
>don't use any alien neuromods
>get pretty far into the first three skill trees
>come across neuromod fab plans
>have 80 exotic material in inventory
>can craft enough mods to unlock everything
>only hitch is mineral materials which I need to stockpile for ammo
Damn. My only gripe with the game is that I've explored pretty much everything so there won't be anything left for NG+. I should just throw shit at Phantoms with max leverage to save ammo.

Eh?

Not him but in what aspects is Prey better aside from graphics?

Learn to read retard

I just beat this for the first time last night. For the ending, is it possible to meet/save Danielle? Her audio logs made her seem cute so I wanted to save her, but I thought she ran out of oxygen out in space. When her robot she said "It never met me", I thought that might imply I could have.
Also were the robots just replications of the crew? Are they dead?

the gooks ruined it

My biggest problem with Prey is the amount of gay couples on the recordings you listen to.

>dishonest
what the fuck does that mean?
Prey is amazing, if I had to guess it sold poorly because it had zero hype.

modded?

You can see Danielle but she basically kills herself anyways. To see her you have to replace the broken water valve in the kitchen.

How did ou beat the game without meeting her?

OP meant that he was duped thinking the game is like Dishonored.

more options with skill tree, exploration way more rewarding due to resources system, characters you actually care about, world was fleshed out better
bioshock isn't bad but I've never understood why people think it's a masterpiece
you first tripfaggot
you're basically just saying OLD GOOD NEW BAD

No I’m not, learn to read retard

I know you can meet her, not sure if you can save her.
It's ambiguous about the operators. I see 3 possibilities
>they're real people using the operators as proxies for security and convenience (unlikely)
>they're AIs that were operating versions of themselves inside the simulation to give more realism and unpredictability to the experiment. (more likely)
>they're copies of real people's minds who were on Talos during the incident. Like how Morgan apparently copied himself over to the various operators (October - January).

Attached: taro of wisdom.png (359x329, 98K)

I dunno man, just never talked to her.
Where the hell was she?
I did that, but then after I killed the guy I couldn't figure out where she was.
Tried finding her in space, tapping on the pool window like the audio log said to, no dice.

Nice non-argument
Exactly what I would expect from a trip

All two of them? What's the big deal? I guess there's three if you play as a grill, but you're the real homo in that scenario

>October
There was ANOTHER drone I didn't meet?
What the fuck

Apparently I missed Oct and November. Embarrassing.

>Tripfag calling anyone else retarded
Not that user but holy shit buddy hahahahaha

Sure its a fun game and all and ive always seen positive feedback from v, but it also becomes a bit too dragging after sometime due to the lack of enemy variety once you reach more than half of the game.

t. can’t read

This. Some human black Ops troops and more flavors of security robots would have gone a long way.

Having a clean up crew board the station to kill all the survivors is such a fucking stupid cliche. Its not the mid 2000s anymore. Campy shit like that doesn't fit a serious setting.
I agree the Typhon could have had more evolutions, there could have been more robots and corrupted forms, more station security to contend with if you were heavily alien modded.

Honestly thats probably the games only flaw, a very limited enemy roster, though looking at Arkane's other games that seems to be a thing with them. Maybe its a design choice they made in order to keep maps detailed and expansive, like a tradeoff?

Attached: 1563694748268.jpg (985x1024, 67K)

If you kill him immediately after he opens the door to the freezer she won't be there. You have to go into the freezer.

Is this worth a playthrough if I've already been spoiled completely on the story?

The gameplay is good. You can jump over and climb on top of most everything, and you're given an item that can basically produce a ladder anywhere except on glass. It lets you do a lot of exploration. Has a lot of text logs/lore like Deus Ex too if you're into that.

Yes, even if you know the general plot it's still fun to discover how all the pieces came together

>more options with skill tree
While Prey's skill tree is more directly complex I found BioShock to have a lot more variability in general combat and "in practice" had a lot more playstyle variability.
Everything was snappy and stuff like weapon/plasmid switching was instant. Prey is really slow to swap weapons and gadgets and it makes me feel like I'm only supposed to use one tool at at time.
>exploration way more rewarding due to resources system,
BioShock also had a resources system and crafting, and rewarded exploration often with ammo and resources. I definitely preferred Prey's verticality, inventory management, and no arbitrary ammo caps, though.
>characters you actually care about
This one's very surprising to me. I cared FAR more about the Rapture cast than the Talos one.
Ryan/Tenenbaum/Cohen/Mcdonagh/Fontaine were far more interesting than Alex/Igwe/Danielle/"The Cook". I was playing Prey just last night and I can't name even half as many characters or what they believed as a 12-year-old game now.
>world was fleshed out better
In a sense, yes. We DID see more detail about the daily life of them, and stuff like all NPCs having names was excellent detail.
But I thought Rapture was a much better fictional world than Talos. And a better world with less exposition carries more weight with me. It's more interesting that there's an Objectivist surgeon hopped up on gene-meth lobbing Molotovs at me while screaming about "Semen on everything!" than a corpse with a name and a backstory.
I love both games, I just prefer BioShock

Reasonable claim as long as you don't go to the straw man/blatant lie of "two enemies" I see some anons make. It's better than something like CoD but not quite the variety of DMC. About on the level of other immersive sims like Deus Ex and SS2; ten or so enemies with small tweaks like elemental changes for variety.

Its fatal flaw is bethesda tier sjw writing. Makes the game unrecommend-able. I liked the game but cant recommend to anyone because I never support sjw propaganda.

It actually does as of version 1.09 but it's implemented through needlessly obtuse steamworks shit. You have to enable the right controller type (eg 360) in steam's general controller settings and make sure you get a popup recognizing the controller when you connect it. You then then DISABLE steam controller support in the game itself and it'll work. Fuck the people memeing on you for using a controller, it's a pretty comfy game to play in bed and if you're shooting often you're playing the game wrong

What SJW propaganda?

Threadly reminder not to fall for it.

Almost every character is Asian or Black.

In the end you find one group that is matriarchy tier with niggers and everything. You are supposed to save them. I hate niggers and roasties so I didnt. Then after the game ends those niggers/ roasties judge if they should kill you or not based on if you helped them.
Yeah nope, gave it a negative review.

And? The idea that everyone in the future will look mixed race by today's standards isn't a new or SJW idea.

I'm only responding to bait to keep this thread alive because I like this game

Shut the fuck up, I love that trope.

It's pretty an obvious conclusion from the moment you finish the tutorial. During the helicopter "ride" there is a single frame where the screen panels fail and turn blue.

There is a NG+ mode that lets you keep your gear and abilities so you can be massively OP.

golden pistol is best weapon anyway.

Nu prey is 10x better than old prey. Honestly shocked that people would don their rose tinted glasses to defend an average quake 4/doom 3 clone that released around the same time as FEAR. the game had cool tech but it did absolutely nothing good with it. conversely, the Looking Glass tech is basically central to the entire nu-prey experience.

and 'prey 2' as we saw it was just a scripted demo not at all representative of the final game. we've seen so many of them yet people still fall for them and let their imaginations get the better of them. I have no idea how that game would've worked on the decrepit 7th gen hardware. I think a lot of the ideas that were due to be in prey 2 just got recycled into what became dishonored anyway.

dumb tripfag living in some bizarre universe where dishonored isn't derivative of thief and bioshock isn't derivative of system shock 2

Nightmare is barely more difficult than hard. The survival options are more annoying than difficult.

>shilling this gay ass SJW trash
Oh boy I can't wait to be forced to listen to another dozen or so audio logs about two ugly western dykes for the next hour
kill yourself prey shill, your trash game flopped for good reason

Why is it inaccurate?

Fine, just have them board and try to kill only a specific subset of the survivors, or only the typhon. Does that calm your titties, princess?

Its in the top 5 best selling games on Steam right now.

There's a gay couple that exists, it's so traumatizing.

Higher difficulties just increase enemy health, I'd be hesitant to even put it on hard because the combat isn't the highlight of the game.

>escaped station
>still got good ending
nani

>pirate it
>hey, this is good

>it recognizes the save file from my pirated copy

Good fucking game. I hope it gets a sequel. I still haven't even touched Mooncrash. I'm letting it simmer while I get through my second playthrough of the main game. Should I go typhon mode on this run? I used a lot of neuromods in my first playthrough, but 0 Typhon mods.

Are no mods playthroughs possible?

They don't touch enemy health at all, they decrease the damage you deal and increase the damage you take.

Decreasing the damage you deal is essentially the same as increasing the damage NPCs can take AKA giving them more health

>Are no mods playthroughs possible?
Yep. A lot more restricting, but it is fun.

Yes and no, because they still take the same damage from external sources.

A fair point if a bit trivial.

>tfw no Prey 2017 animi

Traps and the gloo gun are more important

It would have to be a miniseries or movie. I guess maybe some kind of 8 to 10 episode one off season where you get more backstory at the beginning and more explanation about the events that lead to what your woke up to on Earth after the simulation.

Thanks user, you too.
It's nice that they're both good games

Attached: thumbsup.jpg (301x267, 25K)

Yes, keeping environmental damage the same is an interesting quirk. Do physics hurt enemies AKA if I throw a big box on a typhon from a balcony, will it hurt it?

Just meme it until Panic Button does a Switch Port to make the game sell again.

It deserves to be played.

Not in a game with a lot of environmental elements. It encourages you to use indirect sources of damage, like puncturing propane tubes and employing turrets, since those are more effective proportionally now.

>a 30fps console cryengine game on switch

Also again like i said the engine is gonna be a problem.

It could be possible. Bethesda is taking interest in the system.

Just got to Trauma Center and there's this burning thing that's wrecking my shit. I don't even have a weapon aside from my Wrench/Stungun/Gloo

Prey is going to be classic "high brow" vidya Youtuber bait in the next few years.

>Prey
>A Bad Game
>or a Misunderstood Classic?
>ft. references to System Shock 2 and Dishonored

That enemy is hard to kill in the early game. I Gloo gun'd, threw explosive canister at it, gloo gun'd it immediately after that again and then spammed it with pistol and gloo gun alternating until dead. I don't remember how much it took, just that the gloo gun is broken and you can do it, user!

At this point, the ONLY GAME that comes to mind that I know that the Switch can't run, and never will run, so no chance for a port ever, is Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

But of course, it all comes down the developer competence. Ark: Surival Evolved on the Switch should be avoided at all costs. Hellblade: Sensua's Sacrifice on the other hand, is a highly competent port (and makes me wonder just how powerful the Switch is, as I don't even think Nintendo themselves know, which was the same deal with the Wii U, except that the Wii U was never pushed to its limits ((and no, Xenoblade Chronicles X was not pushing the Wii U to its limits))).

There are pistols everywhere. Theres also a shotgun in the Security office which you can get right off the bat. Mag dump into it. You can kill them super quick if you aren't a huge pussy about it.

The Switch is as powerful as Nvidia Shield on paper.

However, I have no idea about custom API's etc. because it's using the Switch's proprietary OS stuff vs. being a weird Windows tablet thingy.

They shouldn't have named it Prey

Attached: 20190721_222325.png (2336x991, 276K)

The Wticher falls to like 540p and looks comically bad on the Switch, dude. Its a laughable ugly mess. The hardware just isn't up to the task here.

The NV Shield set top box can pull up to 20w. The Switch is limited to about 10w in docked mode, 5w~ in handheld mode.

Imagine Prey, but there's no loading screens between areas and it's fully interconnected. I would kill for a remake like that in the future.

Attached: 1561139121341.png (512x1024, 193K)

Question about this game, how bullshit are the hard modes?
Is it worth it going for Nightmare, or just sticking with hard mode?
Also what are the best survival modifiers, I'm worried weapon degradation will be retarded like 99% of games.

>So, what's the game?
>You Shock™ your neurons with notCybernetic Modules™
>soooooo, nuPrey?
>we were thinking Neuroshock actually
>nah, fuck that, we have to keep the copyright on that dead niche single entry franchise that barely anyone played
>it's gonna be called Prey

i thought that was just an arbitrary limitation and Nintendo recently unlocked it?

or maybe not a remake. Just a remaster.

Attached: 1561139396098.png (512x1024, 280K)

It loads pretty damn fast on my SSD, but it would be nice if every area was connected, and enemies could traverse the entire facility. One continuous facility with a finite number of enemies to hunt down or hide from would be cool.

>i thought that was just an arbitrary limitation and Nintendo recently unlocked it?
No, its a thermal limitation.

If you didn't like weapon degradation in System Shock 2, you won't like it here.

Attached: xerxes.jpg (184x184, 10K)

Was it the CPU that Nintendo had downclocked then? I don't think I'm having a Mandela moment here. I'm pretty confident something about the Switch had been arbitrarily locked but now it isn't necessarily so?

The clocks of both the CPU and GPU are lowered vs the stock Tegra X1 to lower power. If they didn't do this they couldn't keep it cool. It isn't some arbitrary thing you can just disable. If you let the Switch's SoC pull 20w it'd overheat. There isn't a big enough heat sink in the tablet.

I'm trying to bruteforce it. Just hitting it with wrench few times and running back till he goes to non-alert mode.

Attached: 20190723032856_1.jpg (1920x1080, 252K)

I found what I was thinking of
eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2019-nintendo-switch-boost-mode-analysis

>boost mode
It briefly goes to default Tegra 1 spec on loading screens and shit before then going back down once you're in game. Interesting, but not nearly what I had mistakenly imagined. Oh well.

has a game ever did weapon degradation in either a realistic or non-infuriating manner?

No, because realistic weapon degradation would mean you never have to service or repair them outside of freak occurrence. IRL you can fire thousands of rounds through a gun and all you have to do is oil it. Firing a couple hundred rounds is absolutely nothing.

This. In a game the length and pace of Prey, you wouldn't have to service a future pistol. In fact, micrograv of space stations might even reduce maintenance needs by reducing friction.

So no, no game can really do realistic service outside of autismo milsims because it's just not easily translated to a 20 hour game.

I'm playing my second run on Nightmare with all the hard mechanics on and they're really minimal. Basically every once it a while you slap spare parts on it. If you have the "dismantle" perk it's fine. I get 25% durability back on each repair right now, I'm on the 3rd real level, and have like 50 spare parts.
desu I wish it was more restrictive; this is a non-issue to deal with.

Attached: 1489389210447.jpg (720x855, 32K)

It's not as restrictive as SS2, but yeah, that just makes it even more pointless to enable.

I have it enabled right now. Outside of the occasional jam because I didn't pay attention, it's just extra busywork
