Jill is the type of girl you hang out and have sex with on and off. It's not the kind of person you get deeply attached to.

Why do people rant about the writing? There's no story to be told , it's a game about its characters, their problems, and the conversations you have with them. It's peak comfy and details like indeed make it more inmersive. You are no hero, you are just a regular bartender hanging out with her friends/regulars.

Also the website for the game is literally called waifubartending. It's a waifu game, and not a very interactive one, but the devs did make interesting characters beyond the waifus and the world they made was supposed to be a slice of life happening around the main character, Jill.
It's what they were going for and they did it well, but I can understand if it's not for you. On its own merits it's probably a 6.5/10.

The game's website promoted itself as waifubartending, the premise is to be a bartender, not some revolutionary in a dystopian world hence why shit happens around you that isn't your problem. The only thing I could get complaining about is the fact that a large chunk of the plot near the end revolves around Jill's failed relationship but even then by that point if you didn't care about the characters then you probably should've stopped playing.
Not everything exactly aged well in terms of references but the game came out well before YIIK actually came out and was a dumpster fire.
