I bought a 2080 in february and I have yet to play a single RTX game. I did try shadow of the tomb raider (trial) but I ain't paying $30 for that shit. Although I did notice the RTX shadows and it did make the game beautiful.

I hated battlefield 5 so much I unironically purchased hacks for it so I can dab on the game. Got banned after like a day. Its alright tho I got the game for free when I bought into RTX.

I never thought about it so ya where is it v.

The 2070 super is close to the 2080's non-A chips (which are the cheap chinese ones with Hynix memory).

2080's (a-bin) with Samsung memory are 3% worse than the 2080 super.

Because it'll be way cheaper and used better, more efficiently, and by more games in a few years. I'm just not that kind of 'cutting-edge' enthusiast, but if you are, nothing wrong with that.
Plus my 1080ti is already being wasted playing nothing but autism grand strategy games and dwarf fortress

Buying high end is useless these days unless you're obsessed with graphics. Modern games are made to run on console hardware which is similar to a Phenom x4 + 750ti toaster.

Because this first generation of rtx cards are going to be obsolete when the next batch of rtx games come out. They can barely run the current rtx titles. Anybody that bought an rtx card now for the raytracing got duped. We'll see with the next series of cards.

uhmm i'd say its a huge improvement considering pic related is what reflections look like in a lot of games.
also the rtx doesnt just apply to reflections. control for example has global illumination rtx, contact shadows (ao) rtx, and reflections rtx.
and theres plenty of other methods as well. cyberpunk has some weird lighting indirect diffuse stuff or something idk.

Global illumination is nothing new. It's a normal setting in games like JC3, is usable on any video card and imparts no hit to performance. Even garbage consoles use it these days without a hiccup.
