IF YOU'RE AGAINST LOOTBOXES THEN YOU'RE AGAINST CAPITALISM

I can never understand what Yea Forums's stance on capitalism is.
They seem to be extremely pro-capitalism, but then pirate everything and/or hate the idea of paying for games, seem to despise all companies and developers, and if it was up to the majority of this board they wouldn't pay a single cent of a video game ever again in their lives.
It's a weird "i'm right wing but i want all my shit to be free" mindset i can't wrap my head around.

>They seem to be extremely pro-capitalism, but then pirate everything and/or hate the idea of paying for games
You can be pro-capitalism while also pirating video games
Not paying for some shitty fun simulator is not some commie tactic to tear down the evil rich.

Reminder that lootboxes are not gambling because gambling implies you have a chance of winning. With lootboxes, it's a complete loss no matter what prize you get. Cosmetics for your virtual doll, I mean character, have no value. Also, fuck the children. If you need the government to step in on this issue, you're a bad parent. G*mers just don't like paying for things.

Being selectively pro-capitalism only on certain products or industries makes you a really shifty person that isn't firm on their own political stances.
At least to me, such a person would instantly become untrustworthy when it comes to any subject.
If you can't stick to your guns on this, how can i trust you on anything else?

i'm against both, so w/e

>Being selectively pro-capitalism only on certain products or industries makes you a really shifty person that isn't firm on their own political stances.
Well you can blow it out your rump, commie
lol

How is pirating games not capitalist? It's maximizing value and minimizing expense. Sucking corporate dick is not capitalism. Consumers should act out of self-interest.

Being in favor of people's freedom to sell their labor and then use money to buy things they want doesn't obligate you to buying things you massive fucking retard.

Yea Forums is not consistent on anything.
The beauty of an anonymous imageboard is that you can talk straight out of your ass then deny everything if/when you get called out.

who was this post even for?

I guess you can take this route if you're full on anacap.
But then it de-evolves into Mad Max eventually.
Because
>It's maximizing value and minimizing expense.
Means that getting a gun and robbing someone for their shit is the most optimized and logical approach to such a mindset you can apply.

>Boomer parents that can barely use computers should be up to date on how game companies keep rebranding micro transactions
Do you actually believe this? The average normalfag console user already is uninformed enough to fall for it.

>oh i see you pirated the sims 3 five years ago come comrade it's time for the communist revolution
no

>NO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS EVER
>GOVERNMENT PLEASE PROTECT MY COPYRIGHT

Imagine being a corporate shill in 2000+19

Ideological adherence to capitalism is fucking gay. I want what works best for me firstly, and for society secondly.

No it's not, because destabilizing my immediate surroundings and robbing people, thus alienating me from society is not a valid strategy. Are you 16? Read microeconomics.

literally no one said this

There’s a thing called “whales”, and “bait and switch”, fuckhead

truly one of the best games of the decade.

Don't think, consume familiar brand product
Don't think, pay 60 for unfinished garbage without playing first
Don't think, piracy is a crime that hurts "everyone"

>if you don’t adhere to textbook ideologies you are untrustworthy

As an individual on Yea Forums, I am unquestioningly in favor of whatever permits a player to play said game and attain maximum content with minimum expenses. I have literally zero loyalty to any corporate scumbag and have no reason to ever defend their countless greedy schemes to find a way to monetize content that would otherwise be either free or attainable through standard gameplay loops.

Retarded bootlickers here either already have some kind of monetary incentive (be it because they are game journos, members of a game publishing company, etc.) to spread the narrative that piracy is bad and any kind of consumer-friendly practice is Communism, or they are legitimate lobotomized drones who are functionally incapable of independent thought. Regardless, I wouldn't take to heart the opinions of anybody here who supports enthusiasts being fucked over in favor of Actiblizz/EA/Tencent getting a few more shekels added to their annual profit margin.

Let’s face it, it’s hard to reconcile /pol/ hyper conservatism with Yea Forums sometimes . We hate blacks women and minorities and call people cucks but as soon as it involves our little circle of things we like all of a sudden we’re anti capitalist. We’ve been pretending to be retarted for so long sometimes it eats itself backwards

>game is rated E
>but still needs separate instructions (not listed on the box) on how to keep your child safe from predatory microtransactions
Game companies better straighten up before the government gets involved

>work with old homeless people daily and get them registered with various programs so they can get basic jobs and start them back on the right track
>every single interaction is a pain, they dont know how to use a mouse, type, or even what a link is
>have to essentially do everything for them except typing in a username and password, which I cant do for obvious reasons
>when I tell them do make a name and password almost all of them freeze up and are completely lost and I have to spend a very long time talking them something that simple
I dont know how people honestly think that normies are good with computers, half of them cant read anything more than a 3 syllables, and completely skip any text thats over a paragraph

Interesting take. You do know capitalism is an economic position, not a social position? China, for example, has embraced market economics while holding the state apart from this in a way that doesn't allow Chinese companies to control the government. In the EU, unelected beaureaucrats make governmental policy decisions while simultaneously being corporate controllers.

>we

>we

Don’t pretend you don’t post in Yea Forums hive mind!or that most people don’t.

GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STEP AWAY FROM ALL OF MY CORPORATE RIGHTS AND ALLOW ME ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM FREEDOM TO RAPE AND DESTROY THE ECONOMY FOR MY SHORT TERM PROFITS
>someone pirates a product
HELP! HEEEEEEEEEEELP! GOVERNMENT PLEASE ENFORCE MY RIGHT TO DEFEND MY PRODUCT FROM THESE VITRIOLIC THIEVES WHO SEEK TO DESTROY ALL THAT I HAVE BUILT UP OVER THE YEARS! WE NEED YOUR PROTECTION AND ENFORCEMENT NOW MORE THAN EVER!

LOL WHAT? Pirating things is EXTREMELY pro capitalism because you, as a consumer, are taking advantage of an option that's available to you. If game developers didn't want people to do this, they'd create incentives that can entice people to buy the game instead. Since the incentives that they DO put in all suck at the moment, obviously people are going to pirate. Not everything is about the seller in capitalism. That would be fucking stupid.

I'm a fascist, so it sounds about right

>every thread is people violently disagreeing
>Yea Forums is a hivemind

fuck nu-neo-new Yea Forums conservashits tbqh.

I honestly cant wait until they start cracking down on pirate nigger scum. Lock these criminals up. If you're too poor to afford video games you probably shouldn't be playing games.

The video game industry doesnt represent the whole of capitalism.

There needs to be a second bill of rights that ensures corporations of a certain size cannot infringe upon the public's individual liberties.
I guess we would have to start with the government obeying our existing bill of rights though...

What you're describing is "brand loyalty" not capitalism.

/pol/ cockroaches need to leave Yea Forums permanently. We can enjoy our humorous racism, sexism, general xenophobia, etc. in peace and tranquility on this board, but that's because it's bantz in good fun, and now that even whites of all flavors get shit on for their ethnic roots, it's damn near perfect. /pol/ shits up the place and suddenly it's an armchair political crusade where any insinuation that you do not align yourself with binary American political parties means you are some form of outsider now, despite the irony of /Storm_Lite/ themselves being invading outsiders. It's exhausting and it absolutely isn't fun.

Yea Forums is the most anti-pirate board on 4channel.
"capitalism" on Yea Forums means corporations can do whatever they want and you have no rights other than to fuck off
"communism" on Yea Forums is whenever the government does literally anything (except corporate welfare and shooting brown people)
lootbox threads are full of corporate dicksuckers pretending to be lolberts and ancaps, who are conveniently nowhere to be found in piracy threads and when they are they're proclaiming their love for state intervention.

Your fucking kidding me how the fuck
Is a capitalist company supposed to outcompete their product being taken for free. Theirs nothing capitalist about it

Piracy is a service problem. That's how Gabe Newell is worth several billion dollars.

/thread
Abaonding this cancerfest

That doesn't mean that the statement "Piracy is not capitalism" is wrong though.

>Is a capitalist company supposed to outcompete their product being taken for free.

Welcome to the free market bitch. The invisible hand smack you the fuck down.

If you gave players the choice of paying money to just buy what they want or paying money for a chance of getting what they want, people would choose the first option everytime. Literally the only reason people defend lootboxes are because they dont want the government to get involved but honestly it's entirely on the game industry. All they had to do was not be the absolute most greedy fucking devils of all. They just needed a little bit of restraint but they fucking went so overboard with chopping games up to sell extra content that most gamers want the government involved. Blame EA for this shit. Ide rather just have games come out as full packages and only have DLC if it actually feels like the product was finished to begin with and the DLC honestly feels like something extra rather then "hey we know youd normally have this but we shaved it off before release to get another 5 bucks off you". Let's be honest if lootboxes were removed from games or forced their companies to give the game an R rating, pretty much everyone would be happier.

>/Storm_Lite/
Nobody knows what the fuck you're talking about, schizo.

That's their job to figure it out. Not ours. That's why publishers hire analysts and researchers.

We're the buyers and we'll take whatever option is best because that's what capitalism is actually about. The consumer taking the best option.

If they can't compete and are going to have a cry about it, they shouldn't have bothered going into this industry in the first place. That's just being a pussy.

Nice selfie, loser.

Except it perfectly validates piracy as a form of capitalism. A free market would never use government intervention ala copyright laws, so corps have to compete with free versions of their own products.

Yeah I pirated portal 1 and 2
Tell me why I should buy it again? Cause steam made a nice UI?

capitalism is everything that isn't communism and the market didn't even have a name to differentiate it before marx coined the term. Everything the free market does is capitalism, and piracy is a function of the free market.

Go back to where you came from. You faggots are as transparent as can be, and as virulent and manipulative as your Jew boogeyman.

This but unironically

>IF YOU WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND STOP LOOTBOXES THAN YOU'RE A HYPOCRITE WHO WANTS THE GOVERNMENT TO CONTROL EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, I just want fagboxes to die by any means necessary.

This post earlier was meant for u

Because it is. Want it to not be an option? Feel free to write to your government official about it and try to make harsher laws about it. Doubt they'll listen, but give it a try.

wtf bro you can’t regulate anything or else you are Stalin

Portal 1 and 2 are some of the best selling PC games of all time.

this post brought to you by nazbol gang

Attached: horsehook.png (540x321, 26K)

Millions bought Portal exactly because of the nice UI and achievements and other integrations, and Gabe basically put no DRM in to stop you. Steamworks is quite literally the easiest software to circumvent and he doesn't even care.

The system works, since you got the game for free, but others paid because they were given the incentive to.

>Pirating things is EXTREMELY pro capitalism because you, as a consumer, are taking advantage of an option that's available to you

based retard

Says a moron that doesn't know what capitalism is. I hope you keep being an idiot my friend.
