I've been browsing the internet since dial-up, user. Don't play the seniority card on me. As for the waifufags, they were far more tolerable prior to ZSS. I like ZSS, I despise Other M barring a design here and there in terms of the potentiality of Samus' teenage years in the GF. What made Metroid a good series was the GAMEPLAY. The world building is something that can be completely discarded if necessary. A lack of a tragic backstory about Sammy's mommy and daddy won't horribly ruin the series, especially because Nintendo keeps downplaying Ridley as a rival by making him non-threatening. He appears and re-appears more than Bowser at this point, and they never give him time to rest. Him being shoved into Samus Returns was in particular a jarring decision born out of story related fanservice and nothing more. At this point you might as well give an emotional backstory to Team Rocket.
