Is this any fun? It's bretty cheap right now and I like space stuff
Elite Dangerous

For better or worse it is the best sandbox space game (?). It has its faults but if you like space games you will at least get 90 hours of enjoyment. More if you enjoy the grind. Make sure to get Horizons so you can actually land of planets.
no, it plays like a shitty korean MMO plus the developers are fucking retards
>people find a way to get more money so they can fuck around and have fun since you need to spend money to keep your ship if you blow up
>developers nerf it within hours
>pvp is an unbalanced shitshow of shieldstacking and how healing a person with ONE healing laser can tank 10+ people firing at a single target
>developers dont do a single thing about it for months
>developers start teasing aliens being a super big threat
>do absolutely fuck all with them for months at a time besides shitty breadcrumbs worth of things happening in text logs
>make them immune to normal guns too so you have to grind newer special guns that can actually damage them
>developers add a "new" weapon thats supposed to be "advanced"
>literally inferior in every possible way to the stock version performance wise and its just a shitty copy pasted model of the stock gun with a slightly longer barrel
i wish elite was good
Also you forgot to add the best part after the "special alien guns" bullshit
>devs literally just removed aliens
Great for powering through audiobooks
It's alright. It can get quite monotone to a certain point though, one space station feels exactly like the last, some moons you land on seem practically void of any real difference.. The combat and actual spaceflight though is neat. I just hate how they lock a lot of customization options behind a paywall; even when you pay for the base game and expansion; you don't even really get a whole lot. To be fair this is cosmetic stuff, but I fucking hate the default schemes they give you.. It's almost like they intentionally designed them to be ugly and suck to encourage people to buy their cosmetics.. Hate that shit.
No, it's pretty fucking boring honestly.
Imagine space trucking simulator, 99% of your time will be spent flying through empty space, ferrying passengers or items from one system to another.
Play Freelancer.
Underspace now has a demo, info can be found on steam.
Wait, FTroop removed the Thargoids?
>E:D
>players find a profitable trade route
>not even a month later the developers nerf that trade route into the ground
>rinse and repeat
wait what?
I stopped playing right after they stupid alien gun shit, probably a year ago at this point. Why'd they end up removing them?
I thought that was the whole point of the story?
>Imaging space trucking simulator
If it was a space trucking simulator it could have been potentially relaxing. ED is literally a loading screen simulator.
Whoa, what? Can I get some more info on this?
Treat it as Space Trucker Simulator. I honestly felt like I got my worth out of it at either full price or half off or something, but you have to know what you're getting into. This is not a game. This is a simulator wearing the skin of a game. Nothing beats the aesthetic feel of atmospheric approach of a big colony on the dark side of a moon and docking your ship. It's fucking awesome. But there's so many places to go that have almost nothing and characters to transport that you never really see and that makes you not remember or really give a shit about any of it except for a couple places where you can make big bucks transporting cargo. Also, a HOTAS stick is required. You will not enjoy the game without it. I'm just giving you the reality check about what you're getting into, because I thought this game was gonna be the fucking shit.
Loading screen and ganking simulator.
>completely decked out top tier shits in groups of 3 hanging around stations and blowing up literally everyone on sight
miss me with that shit
>devs literally just removed aliens
Wait, what? I haven't played Elite in months, did they pull the big bad thargoid "threat" out of the game?
I never bothered with that shit, as the above stated faggotry about needing to heavily overhaul your ship just to fight a single enemy type was beyond retarded, but still, what the fuck?
>me
>few years ago I discover the magic of LUA scripting
>it even worked in multiplayer but nobody should be crazy to use it in PvP
>turn on the infinite shield script and some others
>park my gimballed ship in one of those conflict zones
>proceed to AFK through the night while I slept, raking up kills, bounty and reputation
>after awhile the game just flat out crashes due to the amount of bloat data the battle had, without me losing any progress
Felt good man
>Also, a HOTAS stick is required.
I agree with everything in your post except this. HOTAS will certainly make you more immersed in the game, but from a purely gameplay perspective it is not required. It can even be argued that mouse and keyboard is more competitive, assuming you set it up correctly:

absolutely top tier flight model with basically nothing to do but grind the most basic tasks for enough money for a new ship.
i need to emphasize each of these point. flying around with a HOTAS is the absolute best cockpit experience you can get bar none. the grind is EXCRUCIATING, and if anyone discovers an efficient way to make money its nerfed in a week. the tasks you have to grind endlessly have no depth whatsoever. fly to conflict zone > scan for bounties > kill > turn in for cash. buy items > fly far away > sell items. none of the items even do anything either, their literally just entries on spreadsheet. not even a basic sort of economy like in X where if a station has certain components they start producing other commodities.
you can have fun with it if you're into that sort of thing but its shallow as shit
Perhaps. I suppose it is down to personal taste, but I did not have a good time with mouse and keyboard. Possibly because the defaults are garbage.
Isn't deep core mining still a great way to make millions of credits?
Wide as the ocean, shallow as a puddle.
