The reason Tidus resented Jecht is actually because his mom was so into Jecht, that she kinda neglected Tidus when Jecht was around.
Jecht realized this and actually tried to make up for this by spending more time with Tidus, and being a blitzball pro, he tried to teach him blitzball.
Jecht wasn't very good expressing his feelings and he was a bit too tough on Tidus so he ended resenting Jecht more.
Jecht was a tragic hero.
