It wasn't that bad. PH was utter shit, however. Only Linebeck was good.
outside the train concept isn't a bad game.
kino
PH > ST
Very comfy, except for that fucking flute
I like the fun choo-choo game.
Fuck you.
They made a good fucking game. What the fuck are you thinking?
Cute ghost zelda
One of the best Zelda soundtracks.
>My autistic son likes trains so what if we made a game about trains? Also, let's bury some of the best Zelda dungeons of the century below this really stupid idea!
>hey we have some pretty content here
>how should we connect it all together? an overworld like in the classic Zeldas?
>LOL NO MAKE THE PLAYER DRIVE A TRAIN LITERALLY ON RAILS
>ALSO ADD TEDIOUS SIDEQUESTS THAT FORCE YOU TO USE THE TRAIN
It's been a few years since I touched this game, but as far as I remember, the dungeons felt like your average Zelda fare. I don't know why people meme this shit like it was the worst thing ever made. Was it because of the slow traveling? PH and ST were crafted in the same vain as WW, so if you disliked the sailing aspect of WW you'd probably hate it in PH and ST as well.
I thought it was fun :) the sidequests were pretty much nonexistent but I liked the music, writing, and dungeons. The final boss was pretty cool too
WW, PH, ST, and SS all have that vehicle cancer. Significantly damaged what could have otherwise been great games. Fuck Aonuma.
This is unironically my favourite Zelda game.
In the context of WW's and PH's story, it makes sense to traverse the overworld in some kind of vehicle since everything is underwater. I don't know why they couldn't give us a proper overworld to explore in ST since you're in what is essentially a new Hyrule.
The act of sailing was fine in WW, my issue there is more the structure of the game not really doing anything interesting with it. That said, everything about ST's train worked but it was all so tedious to actually engage in, I don't remember a single train-based setpiece moment that I enjoyed playing. Not one, I wished they were all over the moment they started. I dislike the train more than a lot of people here hate Skyward Sword.
It's a shame because if both PH and ST had been made for stronger hardware, I feel like they could have been more than serviceable sequels to WW. The awkward DS stylus controls and slow as fuck traveling really brings everything down in both games.
The thing is that with the vast majority of games, the story is written after everything else is already done, because the story is by far the easiest thing to change. It was Nintendo/Aonuma that chose to make WW and PH about going around in a boat, it's not like some writer forced their hand.
wrong
PH and ST are pretty good.
I used a cheat that froze time inside the PH main dungeon to make it less annoying and had fun.
Also, fuck that puzzle where you have to close the DS. Stuck there 3 hours, gave up and when I came back it was solved.
Miyamoto dictates that every game must have a gimmick.
Maybe so, but WW discussion on the whole usually boils down to
>sailing is shit
or
>sailing is okay
I didn't mind it personally, so I don't know what else to tell you. That being said I wish Nintendo/Aonuma/Miyamoto or whoever would stop with this idea that we need some kind of gimmick in each game.
I like the tunnel with the giant enemy crab that you have to shoot with a cannon in the eye for massive damage.
Other than that the train parts were fine but boring. I also don’t like the evil trains since they just block my way
pleb
I liked PH more for the sole fact that I didn't feel asleep during traveling sequences (Boat in PH, Train in ST) it was so boring, jesus
the train parts are some of the weakest content in the franchise, but otherwise everything else is good-great.
>love almost all 2d zelda and can't stand most 3d ones
Is this normal?
>ST
>that final battle theme

Phantom Hourglass 2 with a better Overworld song and the Best Zelda, more or less.
Why do autist love trains?
I don't get why people hated PH and ST, I liked them.
I fucking love it.
temple of the ocean king was actually pretty good
where the game suffered was in the dungeons being bad and the FUCKING MUSIC jesus christ whose idea was it to reuse the WW theme and have all the dungeons have the exact same track
oh thought this was a PH thread and not an ST thread for some reason
anyway ST was pretty good actually. spirit tower was worse than temple of the ocean king but whatever.
It was BAD, it was at bargain bin just a couple of months after it release in some countries
>spirit tower was worse than temple of the ocean king but whatever.
Adventuring with ghost armor princess waifu is the best
>The act of sailing was fine in WW
It wasn't, made the overworld feel empty, even more in PH even if they had more freedom at designing a interesting sea.
Spirit Tracks was just laughable, linear overworld with enemies that you could kill easily.
this game had the best

TRACKS
youtu.be
it was cool how almost all the songs tried forcing a train motif in it. cymbal sounding like steam releasing, snares trying to sound like the clickity clackity noises that trains make
it was all really creative
Needed more trains.
I recently tried to beat it again after not making it through when it first released.
I got to the volcano region and just couldn't take it anymore. So much backtracking on the slow ass train with passengers that get mad, insta death enemy trains, fetch quests.
Side content and backtracking in most Zelda games is tolerable because transversing the world is fun. In PA and ST they made the overworld a time sink where the gameplay was dull and linear.
