Don't forget that they're part of the chad hive mind

Oblivion is, objectively, the best Elder Scrolls game.

I loved leading Umbra into the city and watching her massacre dozens of guards

Why was the art direction in Oblivion so awful?
Morrowind Imperial Soldiers had a interesting Dark-Age, Imperial Roman and Gothic Renaissance aesthetic design, Nords were glorious Wagnerian Teutons wearing chainmail and horned helms, Orc armor was awesome samurai armor with a grotesque faceplate. Now it is all just generic bad fantasy.
Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

>Anyone else know what I'm talking about?
No, but I believe you, because Bethesda seem to have lost all their creativity after Morrowind.

Dont forget they can fucking gang rape you despite being on endgame stats
>The virgin ordinator vs the chad imperial city guard

You need to pay more attention to the environment.

Oblivion does have a more traditional fantasy aesthetic, overall, but look at each town's region. They're all different and interesting in their own right. The architecture varies a fair bit in each town, as well.

The Legionnaires aren't generic; they're Romans with heavier (more like post-Roman European, but retaining old influences) armor. The inspiration is in the name. Generic high fantasy is usually inspired by later French and English pre-Renaissance knights.

Don't get me wrong; I loved how Morrowind was the most unique, aesthetically. That doesn't make Oblivion or Skyrim bad, though.

Oblivion Imperial soldiers have barely any "Roman" influence left in their design, and the plate armor they wear is just generic clip art bad fantasy plate armor.
Morrowind steel armor actually looks like something you could wear.

Super advanced AI, never seen in a console open world before.
>2019
Ai is so bad it’s extremely goofy and entertaining.

Honestly oblivion is a treasure

The hilarious part is that large pockets of what the AI was gonna be were sliced to pieces and they simplified it to just be generic scripted pathfollowing NPCs who spout random shit like they have autism
It was gonna be much more complex, they would've even implemented a holiday DLC if it wasn't for consoles

try best RPG

To be fair, the Roman influences in the Oblivion Legion armor are mostly fantasy-tier aesthetics (not like legitimate segmentata), but Morrowind steel almost looks like armor you'd buy off of Amazon for a convention.

Iève read about this but desu if they really wanted to do that why didn't they do it with skyrim or any fallout games 15 years after the fact?

Kinda feels like either they gave up or this shit was never gonna make the cut in the first place

Why did Oblivion have mostly terrible looking armour?

Attached: dwemer.jpg (972x620, 296K)

oblivion was a roaring success and they realized they could phone it in and people would buy it anyway
skyrim just reaffirmed this

oblivion dwemer armor makes me think they just turned on wireframe mode on some armor unused armor and just colored in between the lines

why did they decide to make the dwemer armor shit after morrowind? it was fucking cool how it looked weirdly robotic and industrial

I didn't even see the point to dwemer gear being in Oblivion, it's not like there's any ruins in Cyrodiil. Are we supposed to believe there's just massive amounts of dwemer stuff going across the borders?

It had the best Daedric Armor

i remember people smuggling dwemer shit being a big problem in morrowind
though it was mostly like cups, coins, tubes, and other misc shit

To give oblivion credit, which might be a little more than due. Seeing an NPC go back to its house and sleep at night while doing shit during the day blew my 11 year old mind at the time

i'll never forgive them for changing from rusty gundam armor

That I will grant you, they went overboard with it in Skyrim

This but unironically

Shivering isles is top shelf stuff

never played ESO
please tell me thats not really daedric armor
>9gag

Because Morrowind dwarven armor is literally robot casings instead of something meant to be worn by people

No this is it

Should've paid the fine!

An armor so shit that Skyblivion is changing it entirely

IMy favorite is oblivion's. Look at that shield and helmet.

The chestpiece could use some work but it's prettier than both others anyway.

based and oblivionpilled

Doesn't look completely finished, but otherwise I like it, the helmet is especially a big improvement over the oversized kettle in Oblivion

Exactly, Skyrim is shit by default.

Im sure it will look fine once they make it look as old as its supposed to be.

>shit character models
>shit animations
>shit dungeons
>shit AI
>glitchy as fuck even for a Bethesda game
no

The random dialogue was bad, but for it's time the full NPC schedule packets was quite advanced

If only it was anything like it was promised to be.

Sophisticated AI is very demanding of hardware, console parity pretty much guaranteed it was going to get downgraded.
