First, learn the difference between SRPG and TRPG, it's actually rather important and unfortunately supposed "fans" of these genres don't get that.
After that, the waifushit is somewhat pronounced but still optional, and you can have fun outside of it easily, even in Fates, in which that "trilogy" was the worst the series had in waifubait.
Right now your options are basically octopath traveler as far as RPGs go. We'll get SMT 5 someday, but who knows when. If you don't care about it being more oldschool, the Mana Collection is a good choice that'll occupy you for a while.
Otherwise, Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, smash bros, mario kart, etc etc.

This installment is set to have the most depth of customization.
Most Fire Emblem games are actually pretty limited in customization options. Every unit has a class that fits a niche. More recent installments let you pick between two upgraded classes whenever you promote a unit, but older games there aren't any options. A Cavalier becomes a paladin, a priest becomes a bishop, an archer becomes a sniper, etc etc.

it moves a friendly character from one space to another distant space. that may not sound like much, but since these games are generally balanced around player characters only being able to move so many spaces, clever use of Warp can break some challenges in half.
also it can usually let you complete maps in a really low number of turns which is a pretty fun challenge in most Fire Emblem games (notably excepting Awakening)

That map is a joke. Even they can kill you with skills and status, they won't attack Xander at all because his Def is too high for them to deal normal damage. So you just end up with a million ninja huddled up in front of one guy while you casually pick them off one at a time.
