Out of the Woods - Wario Land 3 (5CK-HMH-JBG) - A remake of the Wario Land 3 level in the SMB1 Jungle style. Make sure to collect all the red coins for a surprise.

Indiana Toad: Pyramid of Doom (5MY-P62-PBG) - A puzzle story based level starring Toad in a desert as he tries to stop Bowser from stealing ores for money.

Indiana Toad 2: Mechanical Mines (HDT-6LH-VPG) - A sequel to Indiana Toad that involves going underground to stop Bowser Jr's grandest plan yet! Red Coins are optional. (Puzzle/Standard Level)

Marioware Inc (Twisted is better but here it is anyways RSM-PSK-X3G) - A Warioware styled level full of minigames.

The Sorrowful Tale of Skipsqueak (9YR-80K-0RF) - A standard/autoscroller level that caused by your murder of the poor and innocent Skipsqueak. Make sure to go into the hidden door for a "bonus prize"

Toadette & The Time Pipe Machien (9FF-KWN-NSF) - Standard/Short level that involves traveling back in time to stop Bowser from ruining the future. (Example 1-1)

Luigi's Inferno (GY6-DX8-41G) - A boss rush level that invovles Goombas and P-Switches, Koopas and On/Off Switches and much more.

Marioware: Twisted (The better of the two 40J-TKM-WLG) This is a more Warioware like level than the 1st one and has taken more advantage of the crazy stuff you can do in Mario Maker 2 much better.
Luigi's Mansion: Phantom Pipes (3HV-QC4-YTF - After finding the main area of the mansion walk around the mansion to get items you'll need to advance in the mansion to stop King Boo once again.

Snowy Shoe Shrine: (FQW-N04-BTF - A comfy snow level full of wonders, plants, and above all else shoes. Make sure to explore the cave to the fullest!)

Most of the time i make the course first and at the end i put the enemies in.

i create a bunch of different sections and before i weave them together i nuke everything and never finish a level

Decorate as I go, do a lap or two after I'm done to touch it up. Complete the no checkpoints clear check then end up touching up the end one more time.

basically this, I design in section (usually 1 or 2 screens per section), sometimes rearranging them if a particular section feels more challenging than another. I also have them fairly rough before I dress them up better and decorate, before scrapping what I have entirely and starting all over again.

I like twisters

I start with a basic idea of what I want to do, make a skeleton of the level so I have a framework of what I can work with and where I can hide red coins. Then I add details/enemies etc.

I have a pretty cool twister trick in my level. It's hard to come up with things that are unique and not bullshit.

I struggle to find anything interesting to do with twisters because they are so limited

Bit Crusade 3 is an adventure series of Mario levels that play in the traditional sense (scaling difficulty, hidden rooms and level theming). So if you like traditional Mario stages you’ll probably like these. The “game” will eventually utilize all 5 styles so there’s a little something for everyone. Every stage has five red coins hidden within that unlock a super bonus room at the end.

Little bit of both, I usually set the main groundwork first and place some decorations to give a genera idea of what I want each section to look like before making the next big section. You know what you're doing yet? I'm one of those who dropped it halfway through the spike section. First half of the course was amazing but moving upward into spike areas always causes a lot of camera jank deaths for me. I like the challenges you had just hope they can be a bit less extreme in precision demanded/damage caused. Will definitely replay once updated.

One of the only useful interactions with twisters that I'm aware of is that they work on top of thwomps (including sideways thwomps, which carry them abd can even pick them up off a semi-solid). I made a standard, normal difficulty level that involves a bit of this a while back that was fairly well received.

I'll live, no worries. It was fun for the most part. Everything between the first and the second checkpoint was very rough.
There are a lot of places there where if you bounce too high you're bound to hit an offscreen spike and by the time you see it, it's already too late. Hopefully you can prevent that from happening in the next version of the level. I'll be sure to play it, if I see it in this not-general that is.

I'm mostly disappointed it lacks a world creator so you could actually link levels, have secret exits, save-data for said world, having lives matter since they're retained between levels, & etc.

Instead it's just a retread of MM1 with some new toys, with the same problems MM1 had, especially with regards to level tagging.

I'm really hoping we'll get some sort of worldbuilder update. Even if it's halfassed and only connecting a few levels together that would be great. Themed player created worlds would be so good.

Yeah. It's much more forgiving and most of the offscreen spikes that you're forced to bump into if you go too high are gone.
To be honest, I kind of miss how chaotic the old the paragoomba bounce house was. The one halfway between the first and second checkpoint.

2nd one, same gripes. Can't pass the first spike pillar in 1 cycle. I snuck super-mario through the pipe with a well placed run-jump-crouch so I could skip the thwomp part

Glad to hear the level's better now. Did you like the final staircase with the trampolines? Between this one and the ghost house I'm havin a blast comin up with that final hurdle for the player to get past. I had to change the first goomba bounce house so the second half would have enemies where they were needed. I absolutely maxed out the object and enemy limit for the course. Right now, I also feel like maybe the spike sequence should be a little shorter and the final horizontal sequence should be longer. Like more after entering the mouth of the cave to be added inbetween the one trampoline gap you have to thread.

After the first spikes you crash through I have no idea what you are supposed to do and how it's possible to make the jump

The spike sequence is quite long while the last part is really short, yeah. I personally think it's fine that way, but that might be because I've played through parts of that level a bunch so I know what to expect and when to expect it.
Newcomers might be wondering where the checkpoint is halfway through the spike part because it's so tough and they'd like a break from the intensity of that part of the stage or at least something they can reliably fall back on without losing too much progress.

I like to do part by part and constantly replay to see what I feel like people would like to do next so it flows nicely. If the next part feels jarring/disconnected from the previous I usually take it out. But I do sometimes copy/paste over and over so that the spread of each area is similar.

I liked Sarasaraland. Definitely worth a like and download. Kind of reminds me of something I'd make. Though I do think that maybe it could have used more powerups in the beginning and at least one checkpoint. The boomboom appearing right next to me fucked my shit up, as I ran into it. I feel like the second half is easier than the first, as it's more generous with powerups.

Still, I liked challenges. Kept me on my toes and coming back for more. Keep up the good work.

Yo, same guy who replied here. Definitely liked it. Was a nice comfortable difficulty, I also liked how everything was interconnected. Clever how you wove an actually castle level into it. I got within 3 seconds of beating the WR. Shit

No sun in the second half, and it's a lot more forgiving than the first, I promise you that. Many cape feathers, a star and a Yoshi is offered. Also, a checkpoint close by.

Many people say the actual airship section itself is the easiest part. As the maker I'm inclined to agree.

This is full of all kinds of troll shit and stupid mistakes, the second jump segment in pulls you off the screen, the bomb jump almost certainly kills you if you take the time to jump on the middle bombs, if you spin jump into the star box on the air ship it kills you... This isn't fun at all, nope.

That's pretty much the only difference.

in nsmb the plants attack sideways and you can jump on them

I struggle with the same thing. So, I died once, and it was at the beginning after touching a goombrat. Now, I've been playing Mario games for like, 26 years, so keep that in mind. Personally I would rate it mid difficulty. There were a couple of close calls here and there, a few moments where I almost died, but I wouldn't rate it expert or anything.

Definitely normal to high normal difficulty.

I was really proud of this one, it's the longest I ever spent on a Mario Maker course, but not a lot of people Complete it. you must find and defeat 10 out of the 15 bullies in the course, a few of them are well-hidden, But I tried to make sure at least 10 were easy to find. There's even a little Hub area where you can split off into four different paths that Circle back around. I have I have I have another level like this, But you hunt Boos instead of bullies. In both cases I was inspired by Super Mario 64. But I think the bully level is the better one.
I've made plenty of other levels, some of them I'm thinking of reworking because I realize some iffy design decisions I made, and my underwater level is just a flat-out stinker, and theres one joke level, check them out if you're interested, But this is the only one I feel like shilling For now.

First course I've made.

It's a pretty short course that just requires you to hit a switch of some sort near the start of each area. If you're quick, you can cheese that a bit and make it much easier.

Last screen's a pain in the ass, not gonna lie.

There are literally several ways you could have taken the star out, one of them was twirling into it with your cape. Even if you somehow manage to charge in there like a retard several times, you could have saved yourself by twirling to the right and landing on the tank. On top of that there's a checkpoint literally seconds before it.

I'm still not entirely sure what you mean, but if I had to guess you're talking about Mario being "pulled" off screen when you jump on one of the koopas, as in, you jump so high you can't see yourself. Yes, that can be a problem, but it's mitigated by how large the middle one is.

Basically, I think you just don't like dying period and want to be coddled.

Oh and I'm replaying it again, and I see you can avoid gettinf "pulled" off screen by not holding the jump button. I literally put them so close you could have avoided it all together. I playtest and re-playtest my levels. They're not perfect I'll admit, but I seriously think you're exagerrating.

people claim they're really good and that it's the level's fault, but if they regularly clear kaizo stages then they wouldn't be such bitch niggers. Unless a stage contains a bunch of shit like off screen thwomps, leaps of faith, no tells, enemy spam, etc. then they have no reason to say a level is shit other than "I'm salty for losing.".

I rarely if ever use bosses. Typically I only use boom boom to chase players. They're like forces of nature rather than a required boss battle. I'll admit I'm getting kind of sick of seeing him too. Wasn't tired of him in Super Mario Brothers 3, but by the middle of nsmbu I was done. And I was beyond done in 3D World

Oh and now this is interesting. With the way RNG manipulation works in this game, if you ground pound on the drops it seems that bowser launches a fireball right as you jump in and kills you 100% of the time, but if you don't ground pound he never does.

the bettle after the checkpoint thends to glitch in the spinys for some reason but you can reset him by going ofscreen, also the 30coin bait got me multiple times, and i think the trap after the springs is unavoidble, you have to dmg boost
