Mine had it after about a year and couple of months, just after Smash Bros came out, My left stick would drift upwards unless I took out the plastic cap and put it back on (which was a pain because the little grooves have to line up perfectly).

I switched to a pro controller anyway so it's not an issue.

Mine aren't drifting but the battery on my left one lasts about 15 minutes before it's dead.
I get under half a minute of wireless play time before the Switch tells me the battery is low. The right one is fine though.
Any fix for this?

If you have issues with your analog sticks drifting you can buy electronic contact cleaner (with no residue) and spray underneath the flaps. Move the sticks around and let the unit dry. Just make sure you don't turn on the device while you're doing this.

Remove the cap from the left stick, clean it a bit, and then put it back on.

Got it since day one, still no problem.

IDK what this is. My joycon works fine in handheld mode. When I detach them, if I'm not gentle with the left joycon, it will continue to ghost input in one direction AND disconnect the joycon. It gets fixed when it reconnects.

Does ordering just the sticks themselves actually work? With the 360 controllers you had to buy the whole stick assembly and desolder the old one/solder the new one on (just replacing the sticks themselves didnt fix the issue).

Playing them split for shooter games that support gyros is pretty crazy

Good for you but the DS4 has had major analog issues for years now and they have yet to be fixed despite the numerous revisions. In fact my month old midnight blue one starting to develop a slight drift, wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't accidentally open up the browser.

The PS4 is probably the console with the least amount of problems this generation. The Wii U has serious problems with the tablet lasting, the xbone power supplies are notorious for failure out of nowhere, the xbone controllers have a diode that fails and results in massive power draw from batteries which could literally explode.

I've seen 1 PS4 controller that needed a new USB port, easy replacement even for retards with no soldering iron. I've seen PS4 consoles that get dusty. That's about it.

If anything it has the most from faulty controllers and systems crashing all the time for seemingly no reason to the extremely low battery life and jet engine fan. Basically if you can think of a problem the ps4 has it.

Oh and a home screen that lags when you come out of applications. I don't even know how they fucked that one up because I don't remember that happening with the ps3.

Both of my left joycons started drifting. One got bad to the point where it would move when I wasn't even touching it, and I can't seem to fix it.
The other one went back to normal after just a bit of compressed air though so that's good.
I'd expect better from Nintendo. I still have Gamecube controllers that are holding up fine, when did they drop the ball? Why hasn't there been a hardware revision for the joycons yet?

I believe I had mine for about two months and then the left stick got all flimsy. I didn't bother getting new ones seeing how fast my original ones broke.

I did that just a couple of days ago for the Final Fest. I went to play again today and they were worse than they ever were, moving all the way in one direction and staying there all on their own. I cleaned them again, but I fear those warnings of this not being a permanent solution were very accurate.

If you've played on a ps4 before that's extremely unlikely seeing as Sony's own games like GR2 tend to crash on occasion. Third party games like Dragon Ball Fighterz used to do it fairly frequently but I don't know if that was or can even be addressed seeing as this seems like a system related failure.

I somehow doubt that given the stuttering and drifting is about as common on the ds4 as it is with the joycons with some complaints in places like Gamefaqs and Sony's own forums being as recent as this year and as late as 2014, within the launch period of the ps4. In other words its been a very common problem across every version of the controller.

Did you mean sparse? Because that's still pretty bad English. Regardless, when crashes happen on other systems they tend to happen on a game by game basis so a game that would crash frequently on say, xbox would crash frequently on the pc like a Bethesda game for example. But with the ps4 it's a lot more sporadic and random.

I'm using headphones + an old monitor instead of a TV when I play docked. I always use headphones anyway, so it doesn't bother me that the monitor doesn't have any speakers.

just checked both my joycons, my launch Switch joycons are still in perfect working order.

Think about it like printers, you buy the machine but you have to replace the cartridges and they are openly very scummy about it, i feel like the same could apply to replacing joy-con controllers, might be because in my opinion they look so flimsy and cheap but who knows

A quick spray of this in the joycon fixed it. WD 40 Electrical contact cleaner works well here but this was a bit cheaper.

Funny you would mention that because I had an MHW session today where it crashed during a Xeno, Kush and Rathian hunt with no connection between them because e different things were happening at the time of the crash and the rath hunt was even offline.
Normally I would blame something like this on age but this is a fairly new ps4.

More than likely, yes. A lot of people who say this happens to them also say they played smash by smashing the joycons. I play smash on the gamecube controller and i never abuse my joycons and their perfectly fine.

It's true that contact cleaner resolves the drifting issue for a couple months but it's absolutely inexcusable it's necessary at all. I've owned almost every console since analog sticks became the norm and never had this issue so regularly.

i keep coming back to the fact that my Vita from 5 years ago still doesn't have this issue and it makes me question Nintendo's Q&A

I have four joycons, the left joycon that came with my switch is the only one up to this point to give me problems. I was gifted my switch 2018 and only ran into this problem beginning of summer this year.

I'm aware of using wd-40 to fix the issue but haven't gotten around to it yet. I don't see it an issue or beyond repair and confident in the solution I've been hearing talked of.

Meantime I have two extra joycons floating around some I figure I'll buy a tablet and ac, giving my younger bro a console while saving some $$$

I had my left joy-con start acting up about a year ago. The other one started in march of this year. I had the left one fixed. The other will not because I'm just going to get another pair. Hopefully one that won't have that issue if Nintendo stealth fixes it.
