I just started but I'm a bit disappointed it's not like the earlier games where you can combo between X and Y to do different sorts of attacks. How do synergy attacks work when you're playing solo? It seems like the A button prompt rarely comes up, and they never use it when I'm doing mine. Do you have to switch over and activate them? Same goes for the breakable spots. Sometime the CPU seems to do it with me, other times I have to switch and activate both.

You just have to be in the same area as another character and use the zr powers wheel. R is for solo powers and ZR is for synergies when playing by yourself

I hate the grinding in this game to be honest, it's excessive, out of place, and the need to do so much of it kills the fun/progress constantly.

Ghost Rider isn't too fun to play and kinda slow. But he's my favorite Marvel character so I'll use him regardless. Loki, Venom, and Deadpool are my teammates.
I really want to switch out Venom and Deadpool since they play great as AI, but I don't have fun with them myself. But I'm on superior difficulty, and I don't want to work on leveling someone else right now. So I'm stuck with them.

I'm really excited to see how Punisher works. Rare to see him playable.

He can clear out an area by himself not even joking. He freezes enemies, and almost all of his attacks are giant AOE's. His only issue is he is squishy as hell, so give him lots of defense/health. He's worth it.

The best I could figure out was getting in a group of high leveled players and doing that lvl 8 kill 100 guys trial for small cubes. You get 4 cubes a run and with high leveled characters it takes less then 10 seconds to complete. The problem is finding people to grind with

I'm crushing trials while under leveled because his ZR+X synergy with people like Hulk and Iron Fist not only does a fuckton of damage it clears the entire room. It hits in a gigantic radius and pops up everyone for massive damage. Just did the Ultron trial free because one synergy knocked every single Ultron Mook off the map

One of the most fun teams is the classic Avengers lineup of Iron Man, Cap, Thor, and Hulk. They're all fun to play as and have lots of obvious synergy.

It's about as good or better in most respects, but there only being one costume that's a palette swap right now is weak and much worse than 1.

That said, between free character drops, a real alt costume for every character being sporadic free updates, and the Season Pass adding 3 small campaigns and over 12 characters, by the end it will absolutely have the most content of any game in the series by far.

I think its best to wait, allow the Switch to become like the DS and get it while cheep then you can either pirate or buy this game for cheap with everything already included. Right now Nintendo and Team Ninja is just drip feeding us content, we need to wait till August for Cyclops and Colossus, and then almost another month for Marvel Knights.

It's a Marvel game with X-Men featured prominently (the first time in a long time) during the height of MCU hype that's exclusive to Switch and published by Nintendo themselves. It's a tour de force of branding as marketing. Plus I'm sure some people bought it on principle for being a major game release that has overtly sexy women all over the place. I always thought 1.5-2 Million was the minimum for the game, but I guess it's blowing past that.

Hard mode suddenly makes a lot of the weaker characters way more useful since they are typically the ones that have elemental attacks. Little shit gets a lot more health and stagger break characters can't easily deal with all of them since there's no stagger bar to break. But when they are frozen or webbed they take way more damage and can easily be cleared out.

Marvel must have told the devs early in production that they needed to include Inhumans because they were totally going to be the next big thing. But then when the entire thing went up in flames and got scrapped all they had to do was add a single hallways for them.

I expect a Black Bolt/Medusa freebie duo like Cyclops & Colossus. I want to believe that Inhumans were originally planned to be in the Pass but X-Men or F4 took their spot in it. If the F4 pack is last then I'd seriously consider the possibility of it being a late addition.

Using my two main characters and two low levels is how i'm doing it. I have Gwen clearing out fodder while Psylocke kills big guys. Even low level ai can be useful if they have shock or ice attacks since they can stun shit for you.

They said that Blade/Moon Knight/Punisher/Morbius are "a few" of the characters in the Marvel Knights pack, and it would make a lot of sense to add Shang-Chi in it since he's getting a movie. It's all but confirmed that we're getting more than 4, so I'd bet on DOOM.

This is a really fun co-op game. It's pretty different from the first 2, and I'm not prepared just yet to say it's better than 1 since they have different strengths, but it's definitely better than 2 (and I still enjoyed 2). I think with all the DLC and FLC it could surpass 1.

Appreciate that Mighty isn't a pushover and the bosses are actually pretty involved and not just mooks with 1 or 2 special attacks or QTE gimmick fights.

Biggest thing I don't like; the separate character XP. I guess if you want to autismo grind you can, but what's even the point? It was fun always switching teams and this game punishes you for that. Unless you get enjoyment from grinding up 36 characters it seems strictly worse.

It actually sucks that if I want to play with a friend online who's early in the game, I can't bring any of the characters I used because they'll be way over-leveled. I wish I could carry over my character and costume unlocks into a new game at level 1. I'd totally replay this with a different set of friends over if I could bring like, Loki and Magneto in from the beginning. What's even the point of unlocking Thanos, by the time you get him there's nothing left to use him in.

I gotta assume there is some sort of level cap for max difficulty, haven't played through superior yet.

I'm suddenly a little concerned about how the DLC missions will work and where they will be leveled, will you unlock it for all difficulties completed when it comes out? It isn't for a few months, it would be easy to get your favorite team of heroes to max level, so it would be a huge bummer if you couldn't play as them through the new content without being overleveled.

Okay, that's cool. I still think it's a huge issue. By that point, I'm guessing I'll only have a very small set of characters that are level 65, and I'll be stuck playing them through another playthrough. I was already sick of Wolverine by the time I beat Mighty, he's a fun character but in a game like this variety is essential, no one character is deep enough to keep you engaged for 20+ hours.

Two simple things they could patch in to remove this problem, which is my biggest problem with the game:

1) Obviously, an XP share mode like the previous games. Can be optional. This would singlehandedly make this game a contender for best MUA.

2) Let me carry over my character and costume unlocks to a new level 1 save. Would make replaying with friends fun, that was the best part of MUA1; beyond the first playthrough, using the costume and character cheats and everybody getting to play Silver Surfer and what have you from the get-go.

This is going to be a nightmare to accomplish without the dlc characters giving you free points.

The issue I have with Gwenpool getting in is the concern for how they would make er work. You can't really do much in the way of comic related stuff that isn't just having her attack with word bubbles and sound effects. How would you realistically make her ability to jump in and out of panels work?

Basically, it's not fun trying to sync up character level with stage level. Being overleveled makes it a pushover and being underleveled makes it a chore. I almost feel like this game would be better off if levels just gave skill upgrades and stuff like that as opposed to raw stats.

It was a fun first playthrough but now I have a level management chore where if I want to play with a friend online I have to save a special character for it and make sure I don't overlevel them. And if I want to play Superior, I can't use anybody I didn't use to beat Mighty without grinding them up. This is the opposite of fun. I like this game overall but this system sucks.

God dammit, is the most effective way to level just focusing on 4, getting them to end game, then having them powerlevel everyone?

Void spheres are for resetting an individual characters upgrades so they are pretty much useless. All the characters with healing just have it as an extra gimmick and it's not significant. The best stats just seem to be either mastery or strength depending on the characters types then going into the energy grid and maxing that out for the +1 revive and the 10% experience before going into the strength grid to get the 6% extreme healing so you can just fully heal yourself when you use the attack.

they reset your ability increases, in case you want to do something like put 4 ranks in one skill and have the others at 0, but honestly I think it's better to just do them all evenly. Once you are high enough level it shouldn't matter.

At very least it scales as a % of Wolverine/Deadpool's health, IMO if they made it "actually" useful they would end up super OP. It is a little lackluster, but just think of them as having extra health.

Whatever you use for damage is most important, you just have to win DPS races and from what I hear the defensive stats don't really do much of anything anyways. Energy is important so you can spam moves, though.

Melee/PIercing/Projectile(fist gun and sword logos) all do damage based on Strength
Ethereal and the other I forget the name are based om Mastery.
if you look on their ISO-8 equip screen it should show the damage types they are capable of performing, though it doesn't differentiate the sources. If you pay attention you will see things like all of Psylocke's attacks are Ethereal. Her team bonuses especially with all the other Xmen characters will stack several STR bonuses, but won't improve her own attack damage. Not a bad thing, though. That team is basically constructed just to buff Wolverine to +17% STR which you then stack with ISO8 and primal rage to beast everything.

It's a cool stat system but the characters that need STR and MAS suffer (like Magneto).

I'm also pretty sure that Psylocke's melee string uses STR for some of the attacks that don't use psychic energy, since I noticed some hits were doing way less damage. She's still definitely a MAS character but it was interesting.

I'm sure they will, but the question is will they force you to play them at like level 45 on MIghty before you can play them on a higher setting? I know half the point is to use the new guys in each one as well, but c'mon not everyone is going to want to use them or at least not ditch their single favorite character from the base game.

Yeah this is one of the bigger problems. They literally don't even give you a real map, just a minimap. I miss the big MUA1 levels like Asgard where you could take branching paths and had some minor backtracking. Made it feel more like a "world". Wakanda could have been cool if it was a big jungle you had to explore and not a sequence of rooms and corridors.

World War Hulk would be cool, but I'd wish he could use weapons. I'd prefer Joe Fixit, but then again I'd want him to have new voice clips. Suit Luke, Anti-Venom, and Spider-Verse Miles are spot-on though.

Aside of some of the content missing from the previous entries like collectables and some special interactions, it's one of the best Marvel games fan service-wise so far. The roster is great despite the initial lack of the F4 and features a lot of the iconic villains of the comics as well. Storywise I'm liking it a lot due to most of the characters having small moments to shine on the cutscenes.

I’m really enjoying Elsa, Deadpool, Spidey, Ms Marvel, Crystal & Hawkeye so far.

Free DLC, these characters take significantly more work than previous games, but apparently the game is this years 3rd best selling Switch game, which gives it sales of more than 1 million, just on opening weekend, the game has probably already made back it's development costs, so there's a chance that we will get a sequel, possibly an X-men Legends 3, and with a higher budget.

That's what i mean. If my friend and i were online in MUA 1, we could freely switch between any of the 4 heroes on the existing team. Now only the can change to any of the other 2 characters while the 2nd person is stuck with 1.

Deadpool, Hulk, Psylocke, Wolverine, Iron Fist, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel seem to be the strongest ones from my experience. Particularly the team of Wolverine, Iron Fist, Psylocke, and Deadpool is absurdly strong. Hulk is just a beast in general.

Magneto is one of the best characters in the game but he's not absurdly broken. His normals are some of the best attacks in the game, especially his heavy attack which drags enemies together and lets you follow up with his specials which all do C damage minimum so he's insane at room clearing. Only real downside is his damage is split between strength and mastery so you can't just pump one stat. Otherwise he's basically the best controller type caster character in the game.

What else would you be doing? Seriously, isn't that a large part of the content? It was in the previous games.

Nearly every character is a top 5 room clearer when synergizing with Hulk's clap, it's like the top 3 attack in the entire game. Replace DD with any melee striker type like Wolverene and you'll see how weak he is.

You can have multiples of the same character on a team.

And that's basically the best team composition in this game AFAIK. I used to think Hulk + Iron Man was OP and Hulk is still probably top tier, but not having that 17% STG free bonus holds him back and no other team I've used punches above their weight like the X-Men comp does. You can even swap out Nightcrawler for Magneto or Elecktra and still shred everything.

I swapped out Nightcrawler for Iron Fist and it's just as good if not better since IF is in the top three stunners with Hulk and Psylocke and every single one of his abilities synergies with that team.

Everyone's abilities synergies with each others on the team I just mentioned. You lose out on some STG bonus if you swap out Nightcrawler for Iron Fist, but Iron Fist is pretty strong so probably not a big deal.

I didn't have any problem using Nightcrawler since he's insanely mobile and shits out both damage and stuns with synergy attacks, but once I unlocked Magneto I swapped him out for his overpowered heavy attack.

Yeah, that's my problem too. All I did today was grind one of the challenges for hours leveling some characters to beat the Doctor Strange boss fight. It's really unfun to have to stop progressing just to tediously grind out characters to overlevel.

Dr. Strange's boss fight is a pain but you shouldn't have to overlevel to beat it. I did about a dozen or so trials before going back to beat Dr. Strange, and that's the only boss fight I got stuck on throughout the entire story mode on Mighty. Only reason I went back to doing trials after that was to unlock Magneto.

This game feels like Marvel vs Capcom 4 except without Capcom. Good lord there are so many MvC callouts.

At least it's fun although it may get tiring long term.
